Yeah I preordered that after much debate between that, Nomad, and Journey. First new phone in 5 years, and first leather case ever. I have the Sequoia Green coming today also since the Bullstrap aren’t shipping till November.
This is disappointing to hear. I’ve had the Golden Brown leather case sitting at home for a week now debating on whether or not I was going to use it due to the issues with last year’s leather cases from Apple. Was genuinely hoping others wouldn’t be experiencing these issues but looks like I’ll be returning it as I’ve heard/seen numerous people say they have the same issue. Thanks for sharing your experience. Looks like I’ll be going with ESR or Moment.
Edit: Initiated a return for the Apple case. Looks like I’m going to go with the Decoded leather case. Looks very nice. I’ll be sure to post pics for everyone.

I was on the fence on getting since the iPhone 12’s leather case failure. I’ve never been a fan of the exposed speaker cutout, but at least I know I will get some nice patina which is what I am looking for

I’m going to order one from Amazon as the one I got off Apple doesn’t smell like leather at all?
That’s more about people saying it smells like real leather this time.
I‘m ordering a bunch from Amazon because the Apple Store by me is out of Midnight and I’ve encountered the phone popping out of the case issue. Got my first one from Best Buy and was fine for the last couple of days.
ESR brown leather just came in and it’s pure sex. The price is right, the quality surpasses the apple cases and the leather quality is there. Also has MagSafe.
This is a must buy. More pics on the way this one doesn’t do it much justice. Looks and feels very high end. Super bummed I can’t smell it getting over the rona and all.
They even give you a small leather swatch you can use as a keychain or whatever to show you the quality of the leather.
no rubbery coated feel and esr claims their leather will patina well. We shall see. After using many leather cases from apple and Samsung no other case had me just running my hands up and down it like this one. I would blow this thing if I could lolol

Nice, I suppose if all one is doing is opening to check the grain I would consider it still new for return. Good idea.
I’m going to give it a shot if they ever start selling it on Amazon.
Yea not sure why they don’t have them listed on Amazon yet. Only direct on their website so far and it took like 11 days to get here.

Additionally, what does the front look like in comparison to the Apple leather case? I really like how the Apple case is very minimal on the front. Some cases seem to sit up too high off the screen. Also can you see the stainless steel band with the case on like you can with the Apple one?

It does have a front lip but it’s not bad at all. I think they probably feel that if they made it flush people would complain.
My wife got the dark cherry leather case for her iPhone 13 Pro Max - most of the cases were sold out so we went with an Apple leather one for her (her first leather case!). With and without desk lamp light. Pictures really don't do it justice, looks a lot better in person. Smells like leather too and doesn't look like it has a sticky painted coating that the 12 leather cases had (but I could be wrong about this - we'll see how it ages). Coming from years of using Apple silicon cases, the leather case feels a lot slimmer (her comment).
They came in this afternoon and it was interesting to see slight variations between them in terms of color and cutouts. My original one was closer to black but I ended up picking one that has more of the subtle blue coloring.
The cutout on that one for the silent switch was also smaller than the rest but it had more of a symmetrical bottom cutout. Since my phone is permanently silenced anyways, I’m able to live with that trade-off considering it also had the best grain in the bunch.
Amazon and Best Buy both take returns easily so this was the next best thing since I couldn’t get to audition them at my Apple Store.
