As for Apple cases, i have two. Midnight and Sequoia. Midnight fits like a glove, tight corners! Sequoia left lower corner does not “securely” go over the iphone steel band…thus, easily “peels” back with any little pressure. The case does not come off the phone but the corner peels back.

What is weird is that Midnight color Apple leather cases seem to have best fit vs the other colors.

My GB Apple leather case fits very snug. It’s not particularly easy to remove from the phone

I’ve been using a GB Apple leather case on my 13 PM since launch. I have an Andar Aspen in Camel Tan due in this week… you kind of put a damper on expectations. Lol

You can maintain your high expectations. I have the Andar in Camel Tan and it is an exceptional case. It is everything I was hoping the Golden Brown Apple case would be but was not.

The slippery concern is a non issue after a week or two of use. Mine is already much grippier the more I have used it.

In terms of the power and vol buttons being more prominent than the apple case it is true, however, in my opinion having used both cases I much prefer the buttons on the Andar for the reason that they are more prominent (although they are not metal like the Apple). They are very clicky.

The leather smell is even still there even after I’ve been using it for the last week. I am confident this case is going to have an amazing patina after the next few weeks of me using it.

All of them are not easy to remove from phone. It is whether the corner peels back easily. Apply just a tiny pressure with your finger on the corner…does corner of case peel back a little (aka come off the iphone metal band)?

No, it’s very snug. More peel back resistance than my old iPhone X leather case had and close to my old Rhinoshield solid suit. I have zero complaints with a the fit.

LOL, sorry about that. Just sharing my thoughts/experience with the case. I ordered the Andar after seeing it online and reading some rave reviews - it didn’t quite meet my expectations, but it’s still a very nice case. IMO case preferences are entirely subjective, so you might like it more than the Apple case. I’ll be interested to read your thoughts when it arrives.

After a month status post old sock and towel rub:

Saddle brown on my 12 mini worn every day since 12/2020. The sides were half worn down so I grabbed a regular old towel and wiped it down to match (kinda crazy how easy the top layer wears off!)

Curious when you ordered your case? I placed my order back on September 23rd, and it doesn’t look like it’s going out with the “batch 1” preorders today.

Wow... I ordered Oct 20 and when I did the site said it would be available 11/1. That's unfortunate. Yeah, an email went out today saying first batch got sent out but I don't see any shipping info on my order.

Tempted to cancel it and just try Andar but now I see they're sold out too. .... these companies severely underestimated demand I guess.

The wallet holds about 2-3 cards. The feel and even smell compared to Apple’s leather is completely different. This feels and smells like shoes and belts that I’ve purchased in the past. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for Apple. This is as natural as it gets. I’m beyond impressed.

Can you get 3 cards in this one? Any pics at all. The only thing holding me back is that I have 3 cards I need to carry

In case anyone is interested…Week 3 post old sock rubbing on my 12 mini. I personally like it better like that than the brown paint rubbing off.

Alright I’m not one for sandpapering my case, dipping it in liquid air, torching it at 300 degrees, soaking it in fish oil, giving it a back rub, feeding it protein shakes, and running it over with a car but if that’s what I have to do to make it look like this then count me in.

I started with a saddle brown 12 mini case. Had a slow day at work and just started rubbing it with a bath towel laying around. It took me a while then I switched to a sock just rubbing the paint off over time. It took me a while but I wasn’t very aggressive or focused on it. The paint comes off pretty easily.

Then I rubbed it with some leather polish I had laying around and that’s pretty much it.

Some have used 70% alcohol wipes and kept at it to take the first layer off, which hopefully will let it Patina over time with the skins natural oils.

I like the colour against the black iPhone 12 mini.
However, despite the textured pattern, the back feels hard and smooth. I thought it might have a bit more give and grip.
We’ll see how well it lasts. That said, I didn’t have high expectations given it was only $10 USD

Wow- so to clarify, you are saying most of this was rubbing with a dry towel or sock- no solutions at all used, except for the leather polish there at the end? Would there be any reason to go to this effort with a Midnight case, since those look almost black anyway?

I used rubbing alcohol then followed up with Obenauf’s LP to help rehydrate. This is 3 days later and it’s darkening daily.

I could probably strip it more but am going to give it time to see how it does on its own from here on out.

Not really because I haven’t compromised or thinned the leather just the orange paint Apple put on top it. The case texture was drastically improved also so it feels like decent quality leather now.

After Obenauf’s LP it feels fully hydrated not dried out from the alcohol.
