Also tagging @AVBeatMan - Just got my Andar Aspen delivered and popped it on so these are initial reactions.

While the leather is thicker than the Apple leather case, the overall case is thicker too. I forgot how much I missed open bottom cases (what I've preferred and used over the last 4-5 years). This may bother some tho.

Extremely powerful leather smell - almost overpowering as you open the box.

Putting my phone into the case - I noticed it didn't quite align right so it needed me to snap the top portion down and then the bottom portion fit. And yep, you do not want to take this on/off frequently because, I just tried to take it off and it is VERY snug (like break your iPhone trying to remove it snug). (Imo, this is a great thing as the Apple Leather case pops out edges now and then for me).

It is very slippery. The case has an oil on it as fingers remain slippery after handling and it leaves streaks on the iPhone screen when using screen immediately after touching so I guess that means the case is conditioned? It's not excessive and I expect break-in will not be impacted at all.

The camera guard appears to be metal so if you're like me and put your phone on stuff - that's something you'll want to be careful about.

Buttons are hard to press but my experience with other cases is that they ease up over time. Volume buttons are same height as each other.

I love it. It isn't as thick as some of the old cases I had for my 12 Pro Max (no longer being manufactured), but it is much better than the Apple Leather case. It smells amazing. I've found my case for the next (hopefully) 2-3+ years. I'm tired of upgrading too frequently so we'll see how it looks!

Edit: Buttons are breaking in and noticeably easier to click vs fresh out of box. Almost Apple level now.

The last pic of your leather case looks similar to my current "golden brown" apple case colour/tone..

That looks amazing. Wish I had space gray so I can match it with the brown. I have the Sierra Blue with black Andar case so I won’t see any patina. Lol.

Anyone use the BookBook cases? I usually get them as the leather is as good as the Andar cases but find I end up not using them?

I’ve have a Nomad folio that I used for maybe a week and never again. Folding cases aren’t my thing at all.

^^Nomad’s horween is like a sponge for conditioner. Soaks it up and takes on a beautiful lustre with real nuance and depth. My iPad Pro rugged folio now looks ridiculously rich and expensive. Love it.

Put some leather cream and try to poolish with circcle movements, this is how i keep my nomad case shine and beautiful

I’ve been saying use Venetian shoe cream and buff it off with a horsehair brush. Looks great and keeps the leather supple. ??‍♂️

Are you a MagSafe user? Is it still working as expected with the case being thicker than the Apple leather case? My Jet Black Andar arrived yesterday and I had the impression that my iPhone 13 Pro charged fairly slow on my MagSafe Duo charger…

damn.. today’s a careless day.. placed my iPhone on my thigh while i’m packing some stuff… and it dropped…
tho my leather case protected my phone but it has some unnecessary “battle scars”… ?

Would it be fair to say the Nomad is easy to scuff? I’ve seen many photos similar to your and they all seem to have more nicks than say an Andar or Bullstrap. Perhaps the Horween leather is softer?

I dislike wireless charging because it gets my phone too hot. I’m such a light user I barely use 25% of my battery a day. Sorry - not a MagSafe user here. Interesting - I wonder if the extra distance would slow it down a little! Hopefully another Andar user can comment (who uses MagSafe).

I have had the Andar case on my iPhone mini for about a week and the case does not seem to be thicker when comparing the two. I do use the apple magsafe wallet as well as a magsafe charger rigged onto my old magnetic CD slot mount and have had no issues! I would say the magnetic strength is very close to the original apple case. I was worried about that since I drive a lot and my phone is being held up by the magsafe charger through some rough roads but its been great.

I can't speak to the speed of charging, as I use magsafe to charge my phone when I sleep. But in terms of strength, I have had zero issues with the Belkin Car mount or wallet. Has felt just as strong as the apple case. But again, not sure on speed...

Man I'm glad I randomly checked back in here. I long ago gave up on a leather case for the 12, but I think I'll have to give that andar case a go.

Yes the Nomad leather is very soft but personally I love it.
