Saddle Brown XS Max after 3 weeks of use. This includes a week at Oktoberfest in Germany with frequent leather-on-leather friction from sliding in and out of the pocket of my leather lederhosen as well as fingers sometimes covered in sausage grease and/or beer. The only thing I did to it was a couple second scrub with a magic eraser to help remove that slippery coating Apple applies to it. It looks slightly darker in these photos than it does in person.

At first I really wasn’t feeling the saddle brown. I have used peel or totallee cases for my last few phones. To me it just felt slippery but I tried the magic eraser and wow. It’s a really nice texture now.

Thanks for the tip.

I really enjoy the leather cases and have used them since my 5s. Here is a pic of one that is 1 year old and 1 day old. I did use a gray leather case on my 7plus and was going to get a Forrest green for my Xs Max but they were out of stock so went with my standby of Saddle Brown. The X case just got a light coat of Lexol which is why it looks a little smudged plus it appears lighter in the picture than it does to the eye. I also feel that these cases protect the phone better than one would think. Though they are fairly minimalistic, they have protected my phones from drops on several occasions with absolutely no damage to the phone.

Gonna sound weird, but could someone show me a pic of the saddle brown screen from the front with the device on? I love how the saddle brown ages, but I’ve always used black leather cases. I’m worried about whether I would like the contrast on the front from brown case to black bezel to screen.
For some reason I have a issue with the way the saddle brown looks on the front on the max :(. I had it on my x for forever and didn’t mind. Maybe it’s the larger screen or phone for me but my ocd is much less bothered by the black leather case with the gold.

Yeah, the black leather looks so good with the gold!

Midnight blue at 11 months with a few different lighting angles. It's mostly black these days but the edges (and the scuffs) have that hint of blue. I'd like something a little lighter but we all know how the lighter colors age, saddle brown aside.

Glad it helped you. Yeah, the wax coating Apple applies makes it so slippery right out of the box that it feels like it’s going to slip right out of your hand. A few seconds scrub all around with the magic eraser right out of the box and it feels perfect and much more grippy. From there I just let it age naturally.

I don’t want to be too drastic (I ruined a black leather case a couple of years ago by putting too much polish on it) but what do you recommend to use to rub the Saddle brown case with? A micro fibre cloth?

Agreed, but I still love it. By far my favorite case I’ve owned for any iPhone.

Oh, definitely! I hadn’t considered the leather case because the bottom part of the iPhone was left exposed. I gave in after seeing this thread and got the saddle brown. I don’t think I’ll have any other case for everyday use.

Here’s my Saddle Brown after 3 months - has a very nice darkening and the leather feels great. But I’m kind of tired of all the nicks, scratches and even tears that happen easily.

Might move to the Lopie cloth/leather case or the Radius X case/exoskeleton.

My saddle brown after couple of months. Aged pretty well, but on the top of the case its lighter a I dont know how to achieve the darker look like the rest of the case have. Any tips? Thanks.

My midnight blue aged the same, where the spots my fingers rest were much darker than the rest and it eventually evened out. Just stop thinking about it and use it normally.

So is the saddle brown for iPhone XS not on amazon simply because of this thread. I'm trying to find it on amazon and it doesn't seem to exist? Anyone else see it?

What type of texture has the magic eraser provided? Pictures?

Just curious, why use amazon at all? Ordering right from apple is really quick and they have an incredibly easy return process as well.

Just an FYI I ordered both an Apple leather and a Sena leather, near twins but I'm going to keep the apple and return the Sena. The sena's front lip isn't uniform and at the bottom there's actually no protection at all, looking at it from the side you can see the bottom edge of the phone projects ABOVE the bottom of the case. It's really too bad because everything else about the case is great, the leather looks and feels wonderful and it has great metal buttons that are as good if not better than the apple.

It's a slim leather case and I know it's not supposed to be super rugged but with basically the entire bottom of the phone unprotected it's just not going to work for me.

EDIT: I just want to add that Sena's customer service is excellent. They responded within hours of me requesting a return and supplied the return label. Really wish this case worked for me because otherwise they are a great company.

I just bought the Taupe color in addition to the Product Red. I had Saddle Brown on my last phone so I wanted to try something different this time. I’m hoping the Taupe will patina as half as good as the Saddle Brown.
