I’ve switched to a Spigen case because the saddle brown leather is just too slippery, I’m nervous every time I go to take my phone out my pocket. I love the way it looks and I’ll still use it in “safer” environments but for everyday use I’m not a massive fan.

If you haven’t tried - you can try like some other suggested, try use magic eraser or dry washing sponge to scrub off the wax layer...

I made a move for the same reason this morning. I had my phone in my lap while my wife was driving and she took a reeeeally tame turn and my phone ended up under the seat. Silicone may have issues with collecting lint but it certainly isn't going to slide around.

as stated above you need to rub the wax layer off and then it gets MUCH better, much more grip.

Forest Green, used since launch. About 1.5 months. Holding up surprisingly well.

lol, thats a fair assessment. Maybe try the magic eraser trick.?
I think I'll leave it as is and accept the fact that leather is more slippery than silicone. I don't think any amount of scrubbing/treating/saturating is going to change that.

Very true it wont be as grippy as silicone but itll be much better than it is now. For me silicone just too hard to get in and out of pockets. But hey thats why Apple makes both right? To each their own.

Dang, looking at these pictures is making me want to put my forest green Apple leather case back on my phone. I think the color is beautiful and leather just feels so nice.

Have my second Apple black leather case arriving today after ruining my first. Tried to scrub off the shiny coating and now it feels too sticky. Tried to get Apple to exchange it but they wouldn’t.

Just a warning to those wanting to speed up the worn in look. It doesn’t always work.

Just let it happen naturally- only takes a week or so of constantly picking your phone up etc and it’ll start to change

For sure, I find them almost unusable between getting in and out of pockets and how dirty they get so quickly.
Dirty as in having to wipe off pocket lint? My wife has had the salmon colored one (don't remember the official color name) on her 7 for over a year and the only way you'd ever be able to tell it isn't brand new is by the shiny wear spots on the back where it meets whatever surface it's set upon. I have the midnight blue silicone and leather cases from Apple and the leather is the only one that looks dirty.

The pocket thing, on the other hand... completely legitimate gripe.

Do you have to constantly clean it? On leather thats not dirt, its patina. lol

I realize that. I've been around this thread for the past year.

I've never cleaned my silicone case and I'm 100% sure she hasn't either. If I have a moment and turn it around and notice some lint I'll wipe it off but I'm cleaning fingerprints off my screen waaaay more than I've ever had to wipe off my case.

I think you took my lol the wrong way. Wasnt laughing at you not knowing that, was laughing at the fact that when its on leather everyone refers to it as patina but when its on other materials its just dirt.
