Advertised colour vs real colour View attachment 2088745
Asked Andar on this and their reply. Does not hurt to also run a sales pitch while at it:

I am so sorry for the confusion on the color of our Aspen. Since full grain leather is a natural material and individually tanned, the color of every product will vary. I understand that this may have been confusing upon arrival but that is also the beauty of leather! Over time, the leather will also patina uniquely, making it look more worked in. However, this is completely normal:)

We do offer leather cream to make sure that your product is looking pristine and buffing out any scratches it may develop as well!

Perhaps mine will look gray!

just took off my orange leather case ive had on since launch day.. made me realize how much it has darkened in ~3 weeks! can see some wear on the left side but overall its just a slightly less vibrant orange all around.

iPhone 12 black leather case after 15 months of use and abuse. Turned out great.
Also side by side with the 2 week old Midnight for the 14 Pro.
Also Umber… I’ve been using black cases since the iPhone 5S. Let’s see if I don’t regret this Umber.

That’s what I was afraid of (the orange losing its vibrancy), and why I went with Ink. Guess that can’t be prevented with any lighter/brighter colours though.

I would say it went from a neon orange to a more muted pumpkin orange... its an overall even tone for the most part. I knew what I was getting into from the 5s days.. and have wiped it down with a damp microfiber to avoid excessive staining from pants. I dont think it will get much darker than this with care. ill attach more pics when I have a chance.

I hate to say it but I think its going to age like a rotting pumpkin. lol

Got my gray Andar in, and it is a beaut! Mine does not look like the Dune Bullstrap case in color, but it also does not look like the pictures on the site. It does have a brownish tinge, looking like it’s midway between a tan brown and a chocolate brown. It’s not a pure brown though, the gray is definitely in there. It’s a unique color/tone for a leather case and I think it will patina beautifully.

The volume buttons are extremely clicky. Power button is more mushy but it responds to single solid presses which is generally all I need from the power button. The metal ring around the cameras doesn’t look bad at all, although I also appreciate the Bullstrap approach of covering it with leather as well.

I’d say if you’re at all intrigued by the gray Andar case, you should get it. It’s very striking in person without looking garish. And it feels incredible in the hand.

Photo of the case against a gray sheet for comparison and macro of the grain:

What color phone are you pairing with?

what do you think of them? thinking of grabbing the natural leather case
The leather is really good quality. It does scratch pretty easy, because the leather is so soft. The buttons can be hard to press, but overall, I think they are really nice cases. I always like having one, so I can throw my phone in when I'm going anywhere outdoors, because the protection is top notch.

I just want to echo the same sentiments about the Andar Aspen Stone Gray leather case. It’s definitely much darker than pictured on their website. No doubt the leather quality is top notch and overall the case is great. The color is definitely different though and I wonder if it has to do with Andar treating their cases with their leather cream before shipping? Also, the Magsafe magnet is much weaker than the Apple leather case. My Apple leather wallet slides off with ease compared to being attached to my Ink Apple leather case.

Is the main magnet weaker or is it the absence of the stabilizing magnet?

Can someone tell me what to use/to do in order to soften the Apple leather case?
I have one in Midnight and one Umber.. the Midnight one feels much smoother/softer while the Umber one feels grainy/dry. I dont know why, has anyone else noticed?

One of my favourite combos - Wisteria leather case with Sierra Blue iPhone 13 Pro

Outdoor lighting, early evening, setting sun - I think this is a great Spring time colour for here in Australia, overall a very calming colour to look at. I think it would also match nicely with the iPhone 14 Pro Deep Purple, hopefully Apple releases something similar for it

I’m the other way around. My midnight feels grainy and dry. After 2 weeks of use. My Umber feels softer.

That colour in the second pic looks great! I can't get mine to look like that, regardless of the light that it's under.

I just put it near a window and let the natural sunlight em up. No direct artificial light on it.

My review on this case: quality, solid feel grip. The case and lips are ever slightly thicker and taller than apple’s. IMO offers better protection without much weight. Slippery when new. Andar probably put their leather polish on it when these are made.

The MagSafe is definitely weaker than apples. I suspect that the support pillar magnet is not there and there is some movement below the MagSafe battery pack. Overall it is still very much sturdy and passed my fling test. Buttons are clicky and built well, no stress pressing them.

I also think it will look smashing with the purple phone.

And the smell…heavenly….
