How's the Decoded one compared to the old Apple leather cases? I'm waiting for my Decoded in clay to be shipped and I'm worried about the thickness and leather feel...from these photos it seems even thicker than the Andar one.

I had RL for my 14 Pro and despite the fact it had good leather feel, it was too thick for my taste and I'd prefer the Apple's thinner leather case. Also, how's the leather feel? Is it smooth/soft or rough/hard? thanks!

It is thicker than the Andar, but not by much. It doesn't feel thick on the phone but it's not as slim as the Apple leather cases. I don't have my 14 Pro Max leather cases at hand as they're at our other home so I can't post comparison pics until the weekend.

If you're familiar with Nomad Modern and Horween Leather cases for the 14-series the Decoded is about the same thickness as those ones. I'm thinking the slightly thicker Decoded cases might help for a little bit of drop protection but only time will tell.

I’m afraid there’s no such case on the world that can offer the lightweight of Apple and quality leather at the same time. You can get an idea of how thick the leather will be by looking at the weight (for example, my RL is about 5 grams heavier than the apple one).
It’s a trade off between leather quality and weight.

To me, the leather quality by Apple is absolutely unacceptable so I decided to give up on the lightweight and precise construction in Apple cases. I’m happier now with RL even it’s 5 grams heavier and look thicker.

I've already answered you on these points?

It’s on par with Apple’s in terms of thickness, maybe a minuscule thicker if I’m being picky! The leather is lovely and soft; feels great to hold.

I’m gonna get a picture of my navy decoded, in my NT pro, tomorrow.

It's a lot thinner than RL and from memory, I wouldn't say it was thicker than Andar - unless they have changed their cases this year slightly? I remember the one I had for my 14 Pro briefly being fairly thick

Yes. Told them about the problem and initiated a return. Will take them up on their 50% off offer and buy again when the new cases are available. Honest mistake by them.

That's great news! Did the give you any timeframe when the new cases are supposed to arrive?

That is too bad. That is why I prefer the Apple leather cases, as they were so minimalistic. May just go cases less this year, if no leather case can come close to the thinness of Apple cases.

Aren’t the Ryan London and Bullstrap the same case just with different logos?

I ended up going with bullstrap simply because they were available sooner but would have preferred Ryan London simply for the cost difference
The cost difference is not as big as it seems, especially if you are planning to keep your phone more than a year. I have owned many BS and RL cases and in my experience they are very close but not the same. The BS leather feels better over time for whatever reason and how can you not like the warranty which if you really wanted to can use to your advantage in selling one of your 2 yearly cosmetic replacements to offset the cost. The fact is no one pays the full retail as there is always a promo code anyway or when you setup an account you can spend a few minutes doing the one off items and accumulate enough rewards for $10 to $20 off. That being said, RL are great cases for the price point. I just found way more manufacturing issues on them and being in the US, I wasn't even going down that road of returning them. I am also curious to see how BS full coverage leather cases look when they release later this year.

Those are some interesting differences in wear patterns. I’m confused between bs and rl. They look like the same exact design specs. Rl looks like a small handmade shop and BS imports from China. Are all the coming from the same factory?
I’m fairly certain that the plastic underneath the leather is all the same. And the only differences to me is just the leather used. I’ll post my sienna, ocean blue and ryan london saddle brown when I get them all.

All very fair points - I keep forgetting about the warranty. I love the leather and don’t mind the open bottom at all.

These cases are light years better than Andar (that’s what I used for my last phone) for the simple fact that they don’t have a metal ring around the camera that inevitably chips.

Andar is not a bad option for those wanting full coverage but to your point, the metal camera ring and the buttons are a big downfall for the case. For whatever reason, my Andar case buttons for the 14 PM series were very inconsistent either one or two of them would be mushy. Not sure if I was just unlucky or what, but definitely preferred the more tactile feel of the RL/BS cases.

Looks like another contender popped up. All these cases look identical.

Got the Nomad Modern Leather case. So much better than last years. Buttons extremely responsive. Only negative thing is that it smells of plastic. Hoping this will go in a day or two?

I ordered a nomad I just did not like the tpu sides

Exactly why I returned my Andar. No action button and metal camera ring that will scratch.

Makes sense. I ended up going with BS for the warranty

Wiiuka skiin more case has arrived. Very smooth soft velvet leather. Does leave finger stripes as seen on one of the photos. Color wise it’s sierra/brown. Smells like leather but not the regular shoes leather smell. A bit different. Not sure how it will keep, could be a bit sensitive to stains and fingernail imprint. Comes with a action button 👍🏽 and metal black buttons. Bottom side is open. No problem for me. It’s is slightly larger than the silicon cypress silicon apple case. Can I still enjoy the natural titanium.

It’s a shame too because I absolutely love the leather they use. The camera ring is just poorly designed but I could have looked past it if they had an action button.
