Leather Cases - Patina Proud Photos

There are photos on the website of the updated contemporary cases.

They have the same camera protection as the open bottom cases now, in fact they’re basically the open bottom with a button attached rather than the poorly designed version they launched for the 15 Pro series.

I messaged them and they told me they were the exact same as the final sale ones they put on clearance, but I think I got a very confused customer service representative who didn't know what I was asking. They outsource the chat feature on their site.

Either way, I'm glad they're also making the new version of the closed-bottom with the additional colors for the 15 Pro too. I may have to grab one in Ocean or Terra since I have like $45 worth of points with them. Bullstrap always kills it with their colors.

Yeah I’m waiting for that one…

Sorry yeah I was on my work iPad on the clock when I was typing that last reply. I just didn’t want the button getting scratched by any outside elements. But I think it’ll be fine I’m really careful… no different than the camera area that’s exposed (and I don’t use camera protection)

Is the camera protection decent though? I get worried over time the area will compact a little with the weight of the phone and end up offering no protection.

Never had any issues with the camera protection not lasting on BS cases, the thicker padded leather camera protection works really well, and is the most comfortable to use as well.

I see. Yeah the contemporary will be a bit different without the bottom exposed. Everything but the open bottom seems to be lining up to be very similar to the minimalist case. I believe that is a good thing.

Hopefully you don't have to wait too long.

BS got back to me and below are their responses:

* they don’t plan to launch new colors for the contemporary/closed case
* they don’t plan to implement a camera control button and it will remain a cut out

Both of these are bad answers to me so now I’m back to square one for deciding on a leather case

New colors- This is more options than were given for the initial launch of the case. Still not the full Bullstrap lineup, but at least some more options.

Camera control - Honestly, I don't think any of the major players in the leather market will be adding a button on their cases anytime soon.

Bullstrap may not be the perfect fit for everyone, but if you're on the lookout for a beautiful variety of colors, they're definitely a top contender alongside Andar. If leather is your preference, just keep in mind that you might need to forgo the Camera Control button.

I myself I have been enjoying my Bullstrap, but there are definitely some things I would prefer to be different. I am definitely exploring my options. I have a RYAN London Shell case on order and see how I like it compared to the Bullstrap. Options are never bad right?

The leather market has grown so much in the last year in the absence of Apple making leather. Some really great choices out there, but also some major misses.

great response!!

my husband went RL for his leather choice. I heard about the metal camera ring having the tendency to chip though. But we are a careful family. I just have used BS in the past and just love their cases. So I ordered one for me and my son. Will report back when all has arrived ☺️

I genuinely believe in sticking with what you know. If you had a positive experience with Bullstrap, I recommend continuing with them. I have seen complaints about their customer service on Reddit, but I haven't encountered any major issues. I appreciate the rewards and discounts offered to loyal customers, which keeps me returning.

Honestly, I feel similarly about the metal camera ring chipping and the leather case developing patina. Both tell your story—your patina story. I'm actually looking forward to the journey of the leather patina alongside the aged look of the metal camera ring.

Which color RL did you end up getting?
 
Day 1 with BS minimalist on the natty 16PM. I usually go RL. This case is perfect for me even has some tiger stripes which I love. Fit is immaculate and buttons are perfect.

Unfortunately disappointed with the colour of Bullstrap that arrived versus what the Maverick colour shows on their website. I’m also in Canada so I have to pay shipping and duty on any case they ship, even replacements. This happened a couple years ago with the Ocean colour not being what was shown either. I understand that leather varies but this isn’t even close to green.

That looks like they sent the wrong colour completely. I’m also in Canada so I feel your pain.

The funny thing is that the inner fabric is green…

Edit to add: I’ve reached out to Bullstrap via their chat and the agent said they would get back to me by email in the coming days. Last time this happened with the Ocean colour for the 14 Pro Max, they sent a replacement. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Bullstrap so I assume they will make this right. Just sucks I have to pay shipping and duty again coming to Canada if that’s what they choose to do ($15 USD shipping plus $25 CAD in duty/taxes).
