How well do those camera control buttons on cases work? I'd rather get one with a button than a cutout, but if the cutout works more reliably, I'd lean toward getting that.

Plus, how do you think brown or tan leather will look with Cosmic Orange?
Buttons and cutouts each suck in their own ways. First off rarely do case makers do buttons with good enough material and feel while press. Then cutouts are by default harder to work with due to the recess (which can be a good thing depends who you ask), and then that side of the wall will inevitably be structurally weaker.

I think any warm brown-ish leather can work with Cosmic Orange, this has to be the year that is the easiest for leather cases to match.

Yes I understand the limitations with the regular buttons, but my concern is specifically with the Camera Control, since it has a touch sensitive slider.

However, the feel for my regular buttons on my current case is great, despite the fact it's just some cheap noname Chinese silicone case. The difference here though is this 12 Pro Max doesn't have a Camera Control button.

It is hard to describe, you may need to touch a button-covered camera control yourself to get the issue. The thing is at the same time a push button and a touch bar, so when an additional layer is on top, even if it manages to translate the touch perfectly, you still would find the button part awkward because it is quite elevated compared to without a case.

However, cases with cutouts are just worse, for the reasons I listed in the above reply. Any decently protective case is doing to have thick-ish walls, so the cutout just feels like a bottomless well sometimes, because it is too thin to shove my thumb in. Sliding actions on it also clearly suffers.

I'd still go with a case with a button, give the case a chance, maybe it can function and feel good. Compared to cases with cutouts are just crippled by default.

Some of the cases have a cutout for the entirety of the area of the button extending all the way to the front. The problem here though is that it is a weak point for the case.

This case landed yesterday. Lovely crazy horse leather that looks and feels like it will patina well!

A pretty decent price too at £23 from Amazon uk!

This is worse than a pill shaped cutout IMO. You gain back the touch feel of the naked phone, but absolutely give up the protection around that area. This is the same as leaving the type-C port / speaker bottom exposed, never made sense to me.

Can anyone tell me the quality of NOMAD, compared to the others?

I thought I would be buying a Andar for my new iPhone Air, but then I saw this case from Nomad. I really like the open style, and then it still protects the phone from a drop. But I will not buy it, if it isn’t top quality.

In general, Nomad cases are solid. And the smell of the CXL leather out of the box is intoxicating, as long as that lasts.

I have their rugged folios for my iPad and iPhone, and the only knock I have against them is that they don't employ sleep/wake magnets in their iPhone folios, for users that prefer that style of case.

I've started to survey what is on the market in preparation for my 17 purchase, and that doesn't appear to have changed.

My knock on that Air case design is that it isn't fully enclosed, and cases like that are at risk of losing their "grip" on the device as they're used and age. I've seen that happen with Vaja cases, where the decline begins with one corner becoming loose, and the rest follows, before the integrity of the entire case becomes compromised, and the risk of the device separating from the case increases.

Prior to the Nomad, I had a Tucch detachable folio, and it had a good quality/value ratio, if a bit bulky. Shieldon is their line of leather cases from the same company, so I'd expect the quality to be similar.

Hey everyone, am I right that besides BS (not a big fan of them), there's no case for the 16 pro that is closed at the bottom, has a leather frame for the camera, and the new camera control button?

It is like the Nomad modern case with a TPU bumper around
I think their old cases were like this. The 17 Series ones are completely leather:

Fully Wrapped in Leather. Now with a Dedicated Camera Control Button. The Full-Grain Leather iPhone 17 Pro MagSafe Case in Saddle Tan is built around one idea—every surface wrapped in premium leather.

The Bluebonnet now say preorder with ship date of Oct 1. Anyone know if that includes current orders? Did not say that when I ordered a few days ago but mine also hasn’t shipped yet.

Andar now giving a lifetime warranty with 2 replacements per year!

Just ordered a camal tan and a black to go with my already received stone gray as I had a buy one get one free voucher emailed to me - nice.

That's Bullstrap in the mud!

I ordered the Pro Case on Monday and still haven't received any indication of when it will ship. When I ordered, it said only 2 remained in stock. It's funny, though...I checked all the other products at the same time and they all had the exact same "Only 2 remaining" note. I'm guessing it was just a way to fake high demand in order to encourage ordering.

I've replied to Farhad's (the CEO's) automated "thank you for ordering" email hoping to get an update, but nothing. Also tried the website chat feature which appears to do nothing. I'm not getting my pre-ordered iPhone for a couple of weeks, so I'm not sweating it yet.

In the past few years I've usually ordered a Bullstrap case but being in Canada I always got hit with import duties making it even more expensive, plus the price of the case is in USD for us Canadians.

I noticed yesterday that Otterbox is now making a leather case for the iPhone 17 PM. Anybody tried this one yet?

I'm also in Canada and got hosed on a Bullstrap case by duties and shipping fees a couple years back so I know how you feel. Thats why I swear by Luckycoin now. Same quality, or better, for a third of the price. Their website says the 17 cases are available now but the site still shows the pictures of the old 16 series cases. https://luckycoindesign.com/product...ompatible-with-magsafe?variant=45171601408196. Shouldn't be too much longer before they become available on Amazon.

Thank you! I do recall you mentioning Lucky Coin on Amazon but I could never find them for the current iPhone there. I’ll keep checking though.

Yeah, they are taking orders through their website but I don't know what the shipping is like. I've only ordered them through Amazon in the past. I imagine they will have the 17 line on Amazon soon. But if you can't wait you could try ordering direct.
