My last Andar (14 Pro) was $50, shipped. It looks like one for the 17 Pro will be closer to $75, shipped (using one of the 15% off coupons that float around). Legit 50% price increase. I'm not sure I want to pay that much for a case that I might not even like.

Mine comes in tomorrow and I hope this is the case. I just hope it's not a metal ring underneath that.
I had high hopes. It feels pretty nice, fits well, and the camera ring is almost certainly plastic underneath, so I don’t think it will effect signal (I will test).

The leather doesn’t feel as natural as some others I’ve had, maybe more like post iPhone 12 apple leather cases, but it’s hard to say this early on. It just feels more processed (at least the blue one). I also ordered the brown one, which isn’t in yet.

My biggest complaint is that it feels thicker and bulkier than I wa shopping. I actually prefer almost no screen lip on cases, since I’ve used a screen protector since Ceramic Shield came out and the glass traded scratch for shock resistance. I don’t want to find out the hard way that Ceramic Shield 2 still gets micro scratches in normal day-to-day use, and would rather be able to start “fresh” with a new screen protector whenever I feel like it.

I’m really hoping I find a great leather case that also minimizes bulk, like the old apple cases did. Come on Blue Bonnet!

Also, I can’t compare since I returned the Lonli Classic due to signal issues, but I’m pretty sure it was a hair thinner overall.

I haven’t decided whether I’m keeping this or not 🤷🏻‍♂️ maybe I’m searching for the impossible? Perhaps I’m just feeling the effects of slightly increased thickness in the 17 pro?

In the meantime… the hunt continues! 😭

Here’s my pre-patina Andar Aspen in Camel Tan on my Air. Great fit, good buttons, and very comfortable in the hand. At 37 grams I wish it was lighter, but that’s not a deal breaker for me. I’m enjoying the retro vibes that remind me of the iPhone 8/X era.

Looks good. I’m waiting on the Bluebonnet case for the Air to arrive. I do wish case manufacturers would give weight in the descriptions.

I rarely use the camera control button but just noticed my Andar case's button cover doesn't register when I slide my finger on the button to toggle through the camera settings.

Any consensus on what the "best" 17 Pro Max leather case is from Amazon? Le Pelle? Belemay (Crazy Horse or Vegatable Tanned)? Lonli?

They all seem to be relatively the same case and same price. I suppose I could order them all and return, but hoping to avoid that hassle. My only requirement is a camera button, no cutout. Leaning Belemay Crazy Horse but ironically that is one that has almost no discussion here.

If that has a metal ring, I would avoid.

I purchased the Belemay and Lonli for the 17 Pro and am returning both.

Lonli Classic - Azzuro Blue Leather
+ Good buttons
+ Leather was nice, but not great
+ Accurate bottom cutouts
= Rear camera cutout was larger than the Andar
- Fit along the bottom of the phone could have been better

Belemay - Vintage Brown Crazy Horse Leather
+Leather is unique, it scratches, but looks beautiful and repairs itself
+ Bottom cutouts are good
+ Good fit, better than the Lonli
= Rear camera cutout was larger than the Andar
- Buttons. This is the deal breaker for this case. The buttons are horrible. If you hold the case up to the light at an angle you can see space between the buttons and the phone. Easy return for me after using the buttons

Thanks for the input. I ended up ordering both versions of the Belemay shortly after posting to make the shipping cut off. Might be a quick return if the buttons are like that though.

My go to leather case on my 15 Pro was a Keyway, but it seems they did away with the full leather design in favor of TPU rails like Nomad. And it has a camera control cutout anyway.

I see what you mean about the Lonli bottom fit, but I think I can live with it. I think the leather is nice, better than the Andar case that one of my friends has. The Horween leather on the Nomad case is a touch nicer. But I like the camera surround on the Lonli better, so I am keeping the Lonli.

I did an Ookla Speed Test on both Nomad and Lonli cases and without case and the numbers were not noticeably different either way. I only get 1-2 bars of reception at my house (when WiFi is off), and as a result there is a fair amount of variability in the test. When WiFi was on, no differences either. My conclusion is that neither the Nomad with the metal surround nor the Lonli with the leather (plastic underneath ?) surround made any impact on reception at my house.

Almost forgot I ordered a Shieldon royal blue leather case at the same time I got the green. Fit was extremely tight and honestly I didn’t like the black buttons. Main thing though was the blue (my favorite color) just doesn’t look right with the orange no matter how much I try to convince myself it’s a Gulf racing livery.

Debating between that Ryan London open bottom and the bullstrap. Anybody have thoughts?
If you want your 17 to look like 16 then bullstrap. Personally, I hate the look of BS plus they are shady af. Ryan London with open bottom looks sweet with the cutout on the back just like apple's cases. Imo it's most close to what apple would have released if they still made leather cases.

That is what a leather case should look like.
