Because some people here don’t think products should be available if they don’t approve of them, even though they wouldn’t use it.Why is that?
Nope, no matter how many times I see a picture of this sleeve, I have no idea what the thinking behind it is, or who is possibly going to buy it.
This is what kills it for me. Although I’ve never been much of a fan of sleeves (since I grab my phone so often), I thought I’d give it a go if it meant having an Alway On Display.No. Sadly for $130, it’s not that cool.
several reviewer‘s were asked that question, and the answer was, nope. You have to tap the screen to get the time to show up, and even then, the entire screen lights up. It’s not put in any type of special time only mode, it’s literally just your normal lock screen.
I doubt it... my 90 year old mother would find it difficult to remove her iPhone from this case.Perfect for grandma I suppose.
Too bad the iPhone doesn’t have AoD. I’m not really sure why that is. They’ve been using OLED for 4 generations of iPhone. Would have been nice with that case.

No it doesn’t, reviewers have said it doesn’t stay onThat’s exactly what it does in that window. The MagSafe NFC chip in the sleeve tells the iPhone to display the clock which dims but is always shown.
I’m jealous! There are people out there that can use an iPhone without a case and never drop it (my father, for instance), and I wish I were one of them! I take it out of the case every now and then to enjoy the feel of it and the design when I’m at home, but have to put it back on when I walk my dogsI’ve never used a case on my phone because I like to enjoy its design as it was intended.
Meanwhile, I’m increasingly replacing my iPhone with an LTE Apple Watch which I use to check the time, view notifications, play music and interact with Siri. So my iPhone stays in my pocket for longer periods of time. Something like this makes sense since I’m not constantly pulling out my phone every 2 minutes.
I’m not particularly impressed with how it looks but I do see the point of a sleeve.
THIS! I have bought many of their sleeves for protection with a naked iPhone - super nice quality!I used a leather sleeve with card holder for many years, through several iterations of iPhone (iPhone 4 to 6S): http://www.ikonic-edge.com/
This was the best I found. I really liked how the phone was protected in my pocket or bag, and that when I was using it, it was caseless (looking and feeling better because of it). I’m not sure why I stopped using one (iPhone 7 on), I think it’s because I started using a micro wallet for my cards and apples silicon case felt nice. However, as phones got bigger, the silicon case added too much bulk, so now I use a slim case with my 12 Pro: Tozo ultra thin hard case, which doesn’t add much bulk and feels ok. Considering going caseless again.. or maybe a sleeve.. now I’m confused 🤷♂️
Apple often leaves tiny clues in their products and accessories that hint at how they envision their products being used.
For example, I am reminded of that ipad leather sleeve that came with a separate cutout for the Apple Pencil. I interpreted it as Apple’s way of saying that when not in use, the Apple Pencil ought to be held stationary to avoid excessive battery drain. That’s also probably why Apple didn’t release an ipad case back then with an integrated pencil holder, because they knew that doing so would only accelerate the rate at which it consumed battery.
It’s less of an issue with the 2018 iPad Pro because it’s constantly charging the pencil, so you will never be caught dead in a scenario where you want to use the pencil but it’s dead.
I don’t yet know who the target audience for this is, but I don’t think that Apple is as clueless as everyone is making them out to be.
People really should be spending more time trying to explain Apple, not explain Apple away.
That’s some wonderful assuming interlude for saying: don’t criticise them they know what they’re doing.
Looks like a class action waiting to happen. Something gets inside, my guess a coin, and bam, scratched screen.
So... the display stays on (just the pixels needed to display the time) and displays the time when in the sleeve? If so, why can’t Apple enable that functionality without buying a sleeve?
