It could be a good strategy to release the MBP before The conference in june , because , If there are tooo much stuff to show off , the impact will be limited ,
I think that releasing the I phone and other Imac stuff will be good enough!

Is there any chance the new MBPs will have the chicklety keyboard of the MB? I know many of you on here don't like the MB keyboard, but I love it and would like to see it in the MBP! :D

NOnonononononononoooooo...

MB keyboard sucks. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
Must keep original PBG4 Aluminium bezeled keys!

If Apple does upgrade the MBPs to LED screens (and TBH there isn't any reason to believe they won't, even if it is optional or only in the top model) then I can't see it coming before WWDC because that will be a pretty big update.

I expect we will see a few comparisons showing how much better the new screens are by his Steveness.

if anything on the keyboard needs to change it's the size of it. There's so much space wasted on the MBPs that is really only because Apple wanted to advertise a "full sized keyboard" on the 12 inch PBs...

I would think that Daddy Stevebucks would do a "both and". Stevenotes are full of re-hashing recent announcements, and releasing the MBP prior gives them two bites at it, without the risk that the MBP release is overshadowed by a focus on the super-secret Leopard features (like a Microsoft Office Assistant for iWork that looks like Steve and says "Boom!" whenever it demonstrates something? :D ).

I think the only things that would preclude a release this week are (a) a brand new enclosure and (b) a significant CPU upgrade (which won't happen).

I should think that everything else - minor enclosure updates (magnetic latches), LED screen, Santa Rosa, even a new GPU (ATI Radeon x2400?), would still be OK for a pre-WWDC announcement.

My , god , I'm so impatient to get those new computers...
I just want to be monday or tuesday , to get more informations....
My credit card is ready steeve!:)

<snip> ...even a new GPU (ATI Radeon x2400?), would still be OK for a pre-WWDC announcement.

Nooo!!! Not the HD 2400! It's crap!
On the ATI/AMD site, it describes the HD2600 as for Performance Thin notebooks, and the HD 2600 XT as for Performance notebooks. The X1600 was also described as for performance thin notebooks. For this reason, the MBP is going to get either the 8600GS/GT, or, hopefully, the HD 2600. Probably not the XT, but we can always hope.

I used to say that too but after using my wife's macbook on a regular basis I found that I like the keyboard much better than my powerbook.

The keys have a larger surface area, less travel, and a crisper feel.

It is much easier to use the Macbook keyboard on a plane flight or in a confined area. It is easier to type on the Macbook keyboard without miss hitting other keys in those situations.

Amen. I was really skeptical of the MB keyboard, but having moved from a PB, I LOVE this keyboard. As you said, it's very very crisp...

Back lighting would be nice, but I can live without it.

I have to say though, I'd live with a keyboard made of pebbles for the aforementioned and rumored dedicated h.264 chip and a decent Robson solution (I say decent, because most reviews I've seen so far seem to be mediocre at best, though that is on Vista)

definitly , apple must change it's policy toward the GPU of it's laptop.

When you compare The new MB and the old MBP , the speed differences are Low (CPU , GPU (x1600) and Ram)
So , If apple want the people to buy THe pro's , they have to put heavy stuff in them!
I mean the price difference is HUGE! about 1000$ , for just a larger screen? A bit More hard drive? this is dishonest!
I mean , they must improve the MBP GPU to create differences between the Laptops!

Not necessarily. The fact that MBP *has* a dedicated GPU makes all the difference in the world. For many, the metal case and bigger screen does the trick. And the rest are just buying it for better throughput.

If they put in LED screens and Santa Rosa, that's a huge difference to Macbook. Even if they didn't even change the GPU at all!

yes. :)

i can't help but be curious as to why so many people here think that a removable hard drive is 'imperative' on a mbp?

it seems to me that the need for more storage would be much better solved by purhasing an external hd/portable external hd.

that would seem to be much more practical as:

1) one then has 2 drives that are 'always' accessible when one wants.
2) one hd can be used as a backup.
3) synching becomes easy (it must be a mess with swappable drives).
4) one can easily be plugged into any computer one wanted.
5) swappable means more fiddly stuff on the mbp.

or am i missing something here? hmmmmmm:eek:

any thoughts?

I'd agree with all that. Saw a 400Gig external HD for £85 ($170) in PC World this week - bargain really. Besides which, even I managed to just replace the HD in a 3 yr old PB this week. (Old one died) So you don't have to be that techy to do it anyway.

As for the design - the current design is hard ot beat I think - it's just fine as it is IMO, but agree it's bound to change at some point. But if you look at how laptops have evolved over the years, they've come from big bulky things to something like the powerbook which is a model of sleekness and minimalist design.

Mind you, anodised black might be nice.

Lol, I knew it would be an unpopular opinion.

I dunno, I just think it feels nicer and classier. I find regular keyboards really cheap.

I would've agreed with you before the MacBooks came out. But now seeing how easy and elegant that solution is, it makes no sense for Apple to leave out such a feature out of a pro machine. RAM and HD are two things users are most likely to upgrade in their machines, so it behooves Apple to make that process as easy as possible.

Oy. The fact that I am posting in a thread predicting a JUNE release plus the serious lack of rumors over the weekend is not promising. :(

J If they put in LED screens and Santa Rosa said:
Yeah, than I would spend my money elsewhere.

I wish they would spend less time on making something thin and quiet and more time on making something with better cooling and more power (not necessarily thick and loud...).

ATI HD 2600 XT would be nice, the non XT version is not very impressive though.

Ok, the traditional websites of rumors were silent this week end , last uptates are from 18 may!
Let's hope they'll got some fresh news today

And for the stock , I can't imagine apple having a Shortage until they release their new model , especialy if it's in june! They would loose too much money!

Moreover , I can remember that , last week , The announce was done monday for tuesday!
so , We may expect the same things....
But , I would be sooo disapointed...if not

Next week: MBP
Following week: iMac/Mini
Week following: WWDC + iPhone

I always think September - MacExpo Paris is the iMac show of the year. If they are going to be revealing an new case its going to be WWDC or Paris.

I agree with MBP and iPhone though. WWDC is an iPhone and iPod event with tons of Leopard secrets.

SEptember?!
I realy think this is not possible , until september apple would loss the scool sales...
and this is not a good strategy..
