LED MacBook Pro Update in June?

Hey everybody , does anyone have information about the release of new MBP?!
I just can want anymore!!!

You're in the same boat as about 90% of the other members. We don't really know, mostly rumors at this point. It's expected to have an update next week, but I dunno. I can afford to wait when Leopard comes out.

Personally, although I could wait until Leopard's release, I'm not going to.

Tiger is still an awesome OS and it's almost like some people are forgetting this in the frenzied anticipation of Leopard...

I won't begrudge paying £89 (standard pricing for single licence of OS X in UK [$180 USD - $50 more than Stateside  ]) for a Leopard DVD when it's released. I'd rather have my kickarse new hardware now to play with and upgrade as and when the software's ready... I can't really see Apple introducing a hardware revision in between the one that's expected imminently and Leopard's release, so afaics the only benefit of being without a new superfast MBP for several months is to save £89 on Leopard when it comes out (assuming it's on time in October). If we say a June release date for new hardware that simply means saving £30 a month, basically for 3 months. Putting aside £30 each month ain't gonna break the bank.

Added to which, it's not like you'd be paying the £311 ($622 USD) for a Winblows Sheista "Ultimate Edition" DVD is it?!

I was under the impression that apple had decided only to put LED displays in the macbooks for now and not the pro's. It is just a rumor I heard recently form a usually relaible source.

But aren't LED displays better quality? Why would they put it in their consumer level stuff and not in their pro stuff? It would be nice though, I don't really wanna spend the cash on the mbp but the recent macbook updates were a little lame so mbp for me :)

In any case: ZOMG!!! MBP FTW +U3SD4Y w00t!!!

If anything it would be the opposite - at this point at least, LED-backlit displays are still an expensive technology (one reason, for example, that Sony only puts them in the premium versions of their SZ laptops)....... it would frankly more sense for the more expensive MacBook Pros to get them first.

I think the one issue is that the rumors have pointed to Apple ordering 13.3" LED-backlit displays, which someone might have assumed were for the MacBook, but may perhaps instead be for a 13.3" MBP.

Either way, from what Jobs said in his letter, the plan is apparently to move to LED-backlit displays across the product line, so sooner or later they will all get them.

42% of NTSC.

The viewing angles are pathetic though, with colour shifts from a 1 degree change in angle colour accuracy is moot.

So the LED backlit Samsung displays are actually a step up with their 45% and better viewing angle. Nice to hear, though 45% is still kind of low. But I guess anyone needing that kind of color reproduction gets an external monitor anyway.

Thanks for the info. :)

Isn't it kind of obvious that:

1. This tuesday Apple released a minor MB update.
2. Before or at WWDC Apple will release new MBPs with LED and SantaRosa? Maybe even with something more innovative like partly flash-based disks? And, hopefully also all new iMacs (Yes I know WWDC is no consumer fair).
3. A couple of months after WWDC (autumn 2007) MBs is going to be updated to LEDs.

Sidenote: do you remember the patent that described the screen as being the camera - like the screen actually being the iSight...that would be an awesome new feature...

I will be happy with just less graininess and better viewing angles.

Hey... I know quite a bit about computer hardware and stuff... except when it comes to screens.

Can someone explain to me what gamut and ntsc are?

I know I can google it... but I am heading off to bed atm and was hoping someone could give me a small explanation. :)

or am I just better off googling it?

MBP Spec

Hey , guys
Few weeks ago , I was very excited to buy a MBP,
And last week , the new MB was released with Only a speed bump....
And , I was wondering about what could be the future MBP spec?

I think that the CPU is Fine , The only problem is the GPU , And I realy hope that they will change it , maybe for a gforece 8----? (God pleasssse!)
LED screen?
SR is not a major revolution , and a 800mhz FSB is not very very impressive!
If they are released next tuesday , with good spec , I'll Buy one!
Can you hear that Steeve?

The color gamut is the range of colours a display is capable of rendering. NTSC is a standard which defines a range of colours, there are also other standards... some screens are even capable of having a colour gamut that is > 100% of NTSC.

Nah, I don't think David Blaine could hold his breath that long...even if he's a time traveling demon.

It's 3 weeks until WWDC 2007 and they've just released new MBs. I bet my right arm on new MBPs during the keynote. I hope new iMacs - maybe a quadra CPU - for pro's.

why release two weeks in a row? Just wondering, ... need a MBP

Why not? Nowadays Apple usually releases products when they're ready; but this time, they have a possibility to build WWDC hype by releasing stuff every week until the keynote –– for example, MB 15-May, MBP 22-May, (i)Mac 29-May, and the Mac mini 5-June. And then Steve could drop the bomb at WWDC and say that retail Leopard version will run on certified non-Apple hardware.

How cool would that be ;)
