You live in the Netherlands! I doubt a little gratuitous violence would offset too many of you folks.

Legalized brothels and ganja --- HEEEELLLLOOO!?

Pfff, you call that violence? ;)

I was hoping for such a great price. Its taking forever to download tho. idk if its just me? 50kbs. Still <3 you valve

Yeah, 62 avg, max 272... Terrible...
But quite a bargain :)

The price is hard to resist. My friend has been trying to get me to buy L4D2 for MONTHS, but I refused to pay 40 dollars for a sequel to a game I wasn't really crazy about.

Completely off topic:

Well you surely don't like the Legalization of Ganja initiative in California, eh?

Srsly? As a full-priced game is pretty cheap, IMO - even when not on sale. But, seriously, are you really complaining about the $6.79 price? Wow!

My recollection is when it was out originally, it was 50 bucks each. I don't think it is worth $50. It's definitely well worth $7.

I'm new to Left 4 Dead. Is it necessary to buy both the L4D1 and L4D2? The price is great either way but I'm just wondering because if I don't need series 1 I would just rather buy series 2 for $6.79.

L4D1 and L4D2 are standalone games. There's some DLC for L4D2 that brings in some of the characters from L4D1 though, but it isn't totally necessary to get 1. However, I would get both if you like FPS's and zombie survival (especially for the price). Overall missionwise, a single game doesn't really have a ton of content (4 campaigns essentially).

You don't need the first one but it is still a very good game, some people prefer it to the second one :)

Geezz Welcome to 2008... live much?
I am So sorry they have not updated Pacman since the 80's.

The PacMan developers also didn't come out saying essentially "Yeah, we don't have much content there, but we'll get it in with free DLC", then turn around and have a new version for $50 instead...

Awesome! But what's not so awesome is the fact that it says the steam servers are too busy for me to dl it. :(

$6.79 is a steal. but i paid about $3 more for the entire bundle L4D1 & L4D2 + all expansion packs for a total of $10.19 for mac. im so excited to play on 27in imac!!!

IMHO, it's *the best* zombie game ever made. Period.

If you love zombie games and FPS's, then this is a must buy.

As for the question on which one to get? I say get both, but if you have to choose (at this point), I'd say L4D2 is all you need.

Single player is "ok," but honestly (those who are "afraid" of the versus mode), the real action really is campaign co-op. You'll enjoy the campaign *much* *much* more than playin' by yourself. The game was meant to be played as a co-op campaign.

What matters the MOST in contributing to a good gaming experience without lag? Graphics card, memory, or processor? I was thinking about buying this, not sure if my machine's specs are good enough.
Depends on the game, usually GPU but in a game like L4D it's about 50/50. You can have amazing smooth performance until you get swamped with zombies - which is a lot of the game.. Those moments it’s the CPU that needs the grunt.

This is from personal experience running it on a wide range of hardware.. Eg, I have a very strong Graphics card in a single core tower and it runs awfully when things are hectic. :( Runs much better on my MBP with technically worse GPU but a decent CPU to back it up.

As for the question of if people should get both - Absolutely. At this price it'd be insane not to, there's a lot of fun details, gameplay and atmosphere that you'd miss by only having one.

Even with all of the settings all the way down including resolution, it is not playable on my 15" i7 MBP with 512MB of VRAM.

... in OS X.

Works great in Windows. I am disappoint.

I just bought L4D2, cause it said it was only compatible with Windows(L4D1).
I'll buy the 1st one when it becomes compatible and if I enjoy L4D2.

Looks like I just wasted a few dollars... (Mines a 256MB...)

Your 256mb will have around the same performance as the 512mb. The speed of your card is more important than VRAM at this point.

Also, it works fine on my MacMini at 1680x1050, with settings turned up no less.

It seems acceptable with everything on the lowest setting and resolution at 1024x640... until you open a door and there are like 4 zombies there and the frame rate drops to like 8fps.

I'm guessing updates will improve performance. I know they did for Portal. Let's just hope they come out sooner rather than later.

In windows, it works fine at 1680x1050 and everything on high and antialiasing off.

Thank you both. I'm excited about downloading these games and trying them out. You both are right, it makes sense to get them both regardless. :)

Wow that would be incredibly disappointing! Mine's still downloading.. Really anxious to try this out even though I have a custom PC for gaming. The convenience of loading up on osX is so appealing.. If it runs decently.

As with Portal I wonder if there will be some cards it just runs badly on while others it'll be fine.

Thanks guys.
Oh well... I'll go play the 10 day trial for WoW. I still have a few days left.
And it also runs decent :)

Yup. The first game is a lot more tense and precise. L4D1 and 2 are very different games. It's like comparing a tense Hitchcock thriller to one of those modern slasher/horror films.

I prefer L4D1 for that. The levels are also better sized, meaning if you all die there is less ground to retread.
L4D2 is your typical sequel with more of the same, but it really loses the atmosphere.

If anyone is deciding between getting just L4D2 or the bundle - go for the bundle and play through in order (if you can wait that long :p, me? I'm gonna play L4D1 and 2 tonight!).
