I don't have a credit card account yet, so I can't buy the game. Anyone willing to buy it for me and send it to me as a gift? Of course, I'd pay you in advance the amount needed, need someone I can trust. :)

Ugh. My MacBook Pro at home has an ATI X1600, and that is specifically stated as "not supported" on the OS X requirements.

But on the Windows side, it says ATI X800 minimum, X1600 or higher recommended.

On one platform it is *recommended*, and on the other platform the same card is *not supported*???

Basically, it's saying I'd have to boot up Windows to play the game?

Regardless, I don't do much game playing on my old MacBook Pro, so if it works, it works, if not, then I'll just remove it.

The X1600 only supports OpenGL 2, not OpenGL 2.1 (What L4D2 requires on Mac OSX)

AMD's (Technically old ATI's fault), not Apples.

You can use Paypal, which doesn't require a credit card.

As for performance, I played for an hour and it's totally smooth here at all times with everything on high, but that's a Mac Pro with a 5870, so it better be....

Mac pro 2008

nvidia 8800gt 512mb
6gb ram
xeon quad 2.8 x2

Everything on High = OK
PC = Perfect

seems like os x will never get on par with windows when it comes to games

I run the game on my 2.13 macbook 2009 (2GB ram)(160GB) on the lowest settings and its pretty smooth though the load times kinda suck.

I own this game on the 360 and i'm already liking it better on Mac, just playing it on the computer and free DLC!

I actually do live ON Maui.
Sorry for not being enamored about senseless violence

Life is violent.

Denial doesn't make it untrue.

The game is great co-op fun, and about time it made it to the osx platform. Is there a Mac Rumors steam group?

Apple has only recently started to get serious about OS X graphics drivers for improving gaming performance. Things will improve over time

I play this game like it's my job. If you have even a passing interest in survival first person gameplay, this is THE game to get.

I'm very excited so many Valve games are coming to the Mac. I have a gaming PC and when I upgrade my Mac laptop it's nice to know I can just game on that. None of their games are particularly heavy on your graphics card, so a Mac should be able to keep up nicely.

Very exciting news. This is one of my favorite games of all time.

It requires me to link a credit card to my account.

Great to see the Mac re-emerging as a gaming platform.

That said....it's still a sad state of affairs. Here's how it breaks down:

- Most games only available on consoles
- Those games that are made for home computers are crappy ports
- Those games that do show up for the Mac have already been played by gamers on the PC

Flame away, but it's the truth.

Ah Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead.
You will be missed Bill. Even if you became such a little b* at the end. You made quite the Sacrifice.

You guys are getting such a good deal for both games. I bought both of them when they first came out and they were $44+ each. But it was worth it. Valve does a good job of it. I enjoyed it and I sometimes still do.

I remember playing Left 4 Dead on a private playtest over at Valve a few years back. That was fun. Couldn't even make it past the 1st hospital stage completely at the end. Played till 8pm and the devs were still in their conference room having some take-out.

runs good on low settings on my 13inch macbook pro mid 2010 320m. im going to try upping he settings see what happens. lol

Uh, no it does not. Honestly, did you try it? You can open up your Paypal account with just your basic info and email address. You can link your bank account to it for purchases or you can add funds by buying a Green Dot money pack (cash card) from your local grocery store to add funds to your Paypal account.

That is indeed the sad truth. I'll go weep and play Civilization V, WoW and StarCraft II on my PS3.

There is only a couple of genres of games where what you say is true.

There's nothing to flame about really in terms of your post because you're right, but in the same respect, is it really such a big deal? I'm not rich by any means so I can't just drop $60 on a videogame any day of the week. To be concerned about not having a whole bunch of titles available is not something that should be a big deal unless you have disposable income to buy a lot of games, which I don't. I don't think anyone on here are true "gamers", I consider a "gamer" as someone who does it professionally in competitions, the rest of us are casual game players. If all people here do is sit around playing videogames constantly they need to get a job.

Who cares if the game has been played long before by gamers on the PC? What difference does that make. I didn't know this was a popularity contest in terms of which games are "in" and which games are "out" due to who's played them first. I still play a lot of old Mario games via an emulator. TF2 is an old game that just got released on Mac and I can hardly find an server with enough room for me to join for multiplayer. This just shows me that many PC users are playing old titles. It's never too late to join.

Ha ha, you didn't fully read my post. I mentioned that you can get a Green Dot cash card from your local grocery store and use it to add funds to your Paypal account. :)

The difference is that I (and many others) won it over six months ago playing it on my PC. Therefore I'm not going to go out and buy it for my Mac.

Now if they came out with something first or at the same time as PC availability I'd definately entertain doing so.

Oh sorry, I didn't noted that, wasn't familiar about that. I'm from the Philippines.

Ah, see you didn't explain it that way in your last post which lead to my misunderstanding you. Okay, but in a way your point isn't completely iron clad. Just because the game was available on the PC side first and many PC gamers bought and played the game doesn't mean that the majority have. Remember, people do have to purchase these games on Steam, (unless you guys have a torrented way of doing so that I have no knowledge of) and L4D wasn't $6.79. There's always a first time for everyone and that price will still entice many PC gamers that didn't want to spend full price on the game before.
But still, I agree with you, I want to see more new titles come out for both platforms at the same time.
