I guess he couldn't get any actor jobs in Hollywood anymore, but the Chinese had seen his "acting-as-an-inventor" potential in the movie and hired him as fake "product Engineer.

-Think about it; you really need a great actor to say the exact words about ipad: "I'm not concerned about it in the least bit."

LOL all night long!! Can't take Lenovo and Ashton seriously XD

"And with the projector, users don't need to look for an HDMI cord or use AirPlay, because there's a "built-in 50-inch screen."

Oh so you mean all I have to do is find a good spot to put my tablet, on a flat, stable surface, in the middle of the room, and pray to god there's not a bookcase, or a fireplace, or window, or painting, or door, or an already existing TV in the room and away I go? Stick to "acting" Ashton

Thank you.

Ashton aside, It actually isn't as bad as everyone is making out. Im sure if it were a standard lenovo product release it wouldn't get as much hate.

I love apple products and own several but the ipad isnt for me. I bought one recently and took it back as it was missing several of the features that this has.

No stand - You can buy a case but it should have a stand. A product of this type shouldn't require more investment to make its main functions more useful. The amount of times i attempted and failed to prop it up to watch a movie was ridiculous.

Speakers - lets be honest the speakers are useless. I want to play music at a reasonable level without external speakers.

Battery life, how easy it is to hold the thing for extended periods of time... etc

If apple fixed these issues the ipad would be a great tablet but they haven't and its not. And why? because people think they want a thin industrial looking device rather than one that works to its full potential.

Seriously? No offense, but those are some of the lamest reasons I've heard for returning an ipad.

You can use the iPad all day on one charge. If the speakers aren't loud enough, you have access to the world's best wifi speakers. iPad also has the largest selection of cases and stands, by far. Oh yeah, and iPad also has the world's best and largest selection of apps on the planet.

I cringe whenever I hear about anyone still using a first generation iPad. That thing is a big, fat antique.

It's fine for email and one tab's worth of browsing. I also like it for watching videos while on the treadmill. The battery life is as good as when it was brand new.

Don't laugh because Apple could hire Ashton Kutcher next or if they can't get him they'll hire Justin Bieber.

I actually quite like the look of this device. Nice that they're trying to do new things, and rethink the product rather than just slavishly copy iPad.

OMG- I had such good laughs ready things one. Like another poster said, I first thought, wow an engineer shares his name with the actor. Then I got to the punchline, but it wasn't a joke. Wow. I hope he's a better engineer than he is an actor!

----------

Ashton isn't the first Actor have have another career.

Master your first career, then move on...

----------

Ashton's a product engineer? I thought he was banging demi moore.

NO!!!!! That was the last version! We got a new major release with Mila Kunis.

----------

CDC director Ashton Kutcher, in a brief statement released today, says we have nothing to fear about ebola. When asked if the American people should have something to worry about, Ashton said, "Not at all. I'm not concerned about it in the least bit. Maybe it will be a minor pandemic. I think Africa has their fingers in a lot of things. We are really focused on bringing the sick to our country and into our health system. I will be really surprised if Africa launches anything that approaches what we have here."

And other news, NFL Commissioner Ashton Kutcher today said...

Don't laugh because Apple could hire Ashton Kutcher next or if they can't get him they'll hire Justin Bieber.

And Jony told Switzerland they are in trouble? Jony better be worried now that Ashton is a brillient design engineer. Hmm, let's see. One day I do x for a living, the next day I'm an engineer. Gee, that's sounds a lot what actors do from movie to movie. Hmmmm.

Sigh, just stick to servers and workstations Lenovo. You do those pretty darn well. No need to waste resources on products that won't be competitive. Most of the people I talk to outside of my group of IT friends don't even know who Lenovo is.

----------

Lenovo may have Kutcher, but Apple has Dr. Dre and Bono.

And god, the icons are literally exact copies of iOS7's.

Oh god, just noticed that. It annoys me to no end how much every other company rips off Apple. From the way their website is designed, their product promo videos, design, and now icons...

Well you guys are wrong.

From the Wiki :

Early life[edit]

[B[Kutcher enrolled at the University of Iowa in August 1996, where his planned major was biochemical engineering, motivated by the desire to find a cure for his brother's heart ailment.

Yep, this board is full of self-proclaimed geniuses who probably had lower SAT's than Kutcher. IT "experts" who don't even know Kutcher has been a successful tech venture capitalist for years who's probably forgotten more about tech than most of you bozos are ever going to know.

Now, don't get me wrong, Lenovo tablets will fail. But don't make weak ad hominem attacks simply because you are ignorant, MS's notwithstanding.

I'm not hatin'. I'm just glad he's a better engineer and venture capitalist than he is an actor.

After reading the title my first thought was, Wow Lenovo has an engineer named exactly the same as the actor? But then I realized IT IS the actor. I guess anybody can be an engineer these days.

Forget about 4 years of BS + 2 years of MS plus years and years of work experience. Just become a famous enough actor, and they will give you any title for free.

I'm not hating on him in particular, but lately it just seems like if you are famous enough and a tech company is willing to work with you, you will immediately be giving an engineering or a consultant title. Despite the fact you probably have no experience in that area.

Say what you will about him, but he does actually have an engineering degree. With that said, he clearly was brought on for marketing purposes not engineering.

Who else saw the title and thought wow there must be another person named Ashton Kutcher?

Oh no, he's doing it again. First he tried to become Bruce Willis by marrying Demi Moore, then he became Kelso again by marrying Mila Kunis. Now he's trying to become Steve Jobs after playing him. Good luck with that. The movie wasn't that good, but then again neither are any of his movies.

A giant remote..basically

I know that sounds kind of harsh, but if the device itself is the projector, the you either a need a remote to control the device, or you'll have to pick up the device "that doesn't need to be portable" in order to change what's being projected.

Yes, that sound alike I am advocating for laziness, but this is one of the things that I love about the AppleTV. I don't have to have a blank wall or a projector screen and it is constantly receiving power. After how long will the battery die when projecting an HD movie to 50" (from an unstated distance away of course)?

I think Airplay is way better for this because with Airplay, you have the AppleTV remote that will still control playback.
