Has anyone in Europe had shipping notification or 'unable' to cancel their order on the apple store (usually an indication that your item is just about to change status to shipped)... ?

Crazy, like none of us really 'need' (not like our lives depended on it) Leopard by the 26th but as the date grows closer I really want it :D

Cancelled mine today, as it was still not prepeared or shipped, which meant it would never arrive "on time". Going to a mac-store nearby instead, that took preorders..

I ordered from Amazon, but I see them saying it'll be "released" on the 26th -- my receive date is the 30th, not the 26th.

Anyone else having better dates than this from Amazon?
 
Cancelled - Replaced with new Product??!!

(Perhaps this was mentioned on pp 3-6.) My order was cancelled and replaced with a new product. Any idea what that means? 10.5.1 ? :D

You know I seen that happen before with packages that arrived in my city and could have been delivered, but since the arrival estimate was 2 days away they let it sit in their depot. I was so angry... for darn sakes, if it is in the city, or the night before, deliver it already. I hate that about Fed-ex.

So basically you just need to know that it will arrive on time Friday the date of release. We can only hope that Fed-ex will let a few go through the cracks.

My experience is just the opposite, FedEx will deliver ahead of the date of delivery because as he said, he knew I was panting for the delivery. Nice.
 
Mine just says "delivers on October 26. :(

Why does that make you sad? Would you rather it be delivered on October 26 or simply shipped on October 26?

It says, "delivers." Go sit by the door on Friday and wait for the truck. :)
 
I'm waiting on my UTD package to ship, and I'm getting quite anxious, and not just because I'm eager to get my hands on the newest stuff out there (though that's always nice too). I'm having critical display issues with my mini (mini won't complete boot when hooked to my KVM) which I'm hoping that Leopard *might* fix.

So I'm wondering... since retail orders seem to be following the same shipping patterns as the Tiger release (shipping early, delivering early), what has happened in the past with UTD orders? Did they ship early as well, and with overnight shipping? Just curious if I'm going to have a chance to play with my mini this weekend, or if I'll have to wait until the middle of next week.

I doubt that my boss would like me waiting all day Friday for a package :D
So I guess that I will have to pre-sign and have them drop it off so I can snag it before I go to Ridgedale.

I hope that works out for you however I think that wasn't wise canceling your order from the actual company that makes the product especially Apple.
A reseller most likely won't get it to you before Apple.

In my experience every OS update Apple gets it to your house on the day of release with no extra charge for fast shipping. Apple has to ship it to Amazon first and then to you. Good luck.
 
My little piece of input here...just called Apple US and they told me that the UTD orders are shipped on the 26th and would receive a couple of days after that via standard FedEx shipping, while the retail orders would be delivered on the 26th since they paid $129. There is obviously no consistency here.

Mine says the same thing. Just checked.

Anyone know if there is there a difference between the "full retail" and the "uptodate" version?

I'd say that was a fatal error on your part. You would have gotten it on Friday if you had just been patient. Apple expedites all first new OS X orders no matter how you say to ship it. It's highly unlikely you will get it from Amazon on Friday. :( Sorry.

I think you still have time to cancel the Amazon order and replace your Apple order - I would do it by phone right now 1.800.MY.APPLE if I were you.
 
Leopard status

I ordered my copy first day it was available at 11:45am with overnight shipping. It went to "Prepared For Shipment" a day or two ago....and Apple has dropped the $16 overnight charge.

It still reads prepared for shipment. I remember getting Tiger I day or so earlier than the release date. I was hoping to jump the gun and get Leopard even sooner by throwing that overnight shipping in there....guess they're on to me! :eek:
