Value with Siri and the 4s

I use Siri quite a bit I also like the better quality of the camera. And the faster speed

But I really lie the resale value of the 4s over the 4.(sold my 4 for $350. ) Because when the 5 comes out I will get more for the sale of my 4s. And ATT lets its customers upgrade uevery year for $200.

Used it this morning to set a new alarm (LOOONG snooze) and I used voice dictation to update my FB status.

I use it every day while driving. Navigating a music library while driving can be tricky!

"open my playlist oc remix and shuffle"

I believe Microsoft got it right with Kinect, and Apple got it right with Siri.. Now i want to see both being integrated.

I don't want to go up to the iPhone and press a button to say something. Most of the times when i use Siri, it's when i'm busy with something else. For example, I don't want to take out my iPhone and press the home button and ask Siri what the weather is like, before i head out.
I want to be able to say something like "activate Siri. How's the weather like today?"

Now that's revolutionary.

I have to admit that I don't use it anymore either. Siri is a great feature in theory, but in real life I don't really want/need to use it... Operating my phone is just easier and more practical using traditional methods.

I try to use every opportunity I get. It's usually a little bit faster then me manually doing task it can do.

I've learn what is going to be a complicated sentence for it to decipher so I'll just break it down to a few words then check then continue. Works alright

This morning, I told siri to "off alarm" and it somehow interpreted it as "call (name of colleague)".

I do use it a fair bit, mostly for voice dictation, quickly composing messages/emails and accessing contacts of people. Once in a while, I have it set my alarm and set new reminders.

It can be quite useful, only that siri still has some issues understanding my accent, so I am experiencing something like a 50% miss rate. Maybe because I am Asian?

Sounds like my story. I may use Siri to make a call, but it pretty much stops there. Maybe I should use her more.

I guess I will be the minority,

I don't consider the voice texting, using Siri

half the time when I try to use her she says something dumb like "let me think about that" or can't find an answer, so I don't even know why I bother.

the other day, "what is the score to the Patriots game" "let me think...."

Nothing....

I never use her cause she is worthless to me!

If you are willing to jailbreak an application/extension called Hands-Free Control does that.

Like many others, I used it a lot when it first came out.

But now I never use it. Just text/make appointments/look things up myself.

Although it does come in handy when texting while driving.

I can't remember the last time I actually dialed a # or clicked on a contact name to make a call, Siri calls everyone for me. I set my alarm using Siri as well, never do it manually. Other than that, I really don't do anything else with it other than sending a text here and there if driving.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4s: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

I use Siri at work for lists of projects and materials. I also spent most of the day on the phone calling clients and assembling project bids and invoices... I find the voice dial feature a lot easier to use on my iPhone than I did on my Android.

The only people who use Siri are the people who are really bored with their lives and want to imagine they are in some Star Trek future.

I use it quite often. My friends steal it from me every so often and say stupid things, but, I primarily use Siri for hands-free use while driving. It comes in quite handy when I have no idea where I am going.

Voice recognitition is far, far too unreliable to use it.

This is one of the reasons they are still calling it "beta", so much data is needed to try to get the voice recognition right, especially with the huge rage of human vocals, not to mention all the various accents under which the English language is spoken. I suspect this feature will always work better for some than for others - I have a pretty nuetral American accent and it's worked well for me so far.

Myth.

There is an awful lot of data on these things already, but there is absolutely no evidence that Apple is even providing data back to Neuance at all, never mind that any improvement in voice recognition would result.

Siri's voice recognition is basically done. The beta period is about server reliability and some of the messes in it's processing (for example, in the UK Siri quotes share prices back in pounds rather than pence, getting them wrong by two orders of magnitude).

Voice recognition is far from done. Apple plans in quite a few dialects for languages already supported. Not to mention the countries they planned to add this year.

Keep in mind Siri only officially supports English spoken by people in the US, UK, and Australia but very few of their accented variants, German, and French.

For me, English no accent. It understands me perfectly with rarely an error. If there is an error it's usually a result of me using slang or saying a strange name.
