Never use it. Don't care for it. Turned it off after the first few hours of picking up the 4S. Almost don't even know why I got the 4S in general. Man....I hate being that guy that has to have every "new" iPhone. Should have saved my upgrade for the 5.

Tried to use Siri today to send a text to my wife "open the garage door". Four tries later and she still couldn't get those 4 words right. Wife and daughter tried it, same result.

Im convinced some people just say the things they say so they dont feel alone about it lol.

"I hate siri, who's with me" *crickets*

I was actually thinking about iphone 4s for Siri to ability to do calculus. That was the only think I was impressed with siri.

So the real question is, do people even use siri for math problems like calculus? How reliable is it?

I use it all the time

In car like most people

Dictate messages

Call people

Set timer / alarm

Even to google things

It's so much faster

Thought I give it try. Siri got the four words correct the first time for me. My guess is the problem was on the Apple side. Sometimes the servers get overloaded.

Not useless.

You can make a sound, then edit it with keyboard.

Tried it and it doesn't understand me so disabled it all good for me

Not sure if you knew or not but Siri does give visual cues when to speak and will always display what you say and the answers to questions such as "What's the weather like" or "Find email from John" or a good selection of other commands. It is definitely worth a try. And the voice dictation can be used just about anywhere throughout the phone where the keyboard is.

Ok I will try again but I know it sucks….

Mainly use it for dictation...sometimes to ask it things for graduate classes since it is easier than looking up scientific things in a book.

Why did Apple waste their time with Siri?? They should have given us a "real" great feature. It baffles me that Siri is considered a strong a selling point of the iPhone. Let's be honest no one uses it, it's wore off.

If that were true, which it is not, you over looked the many posts on this thread from those that do use it and like it.... ;)

Not to mention to those that are having issues with it......You have a short memory or what ? Its still BETA and will be for a while. You do know what BETA means, don't you ??

I wish people complaining about siri not understanding them would post recordings of them talking.

Quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog would be enough

Siri

I was an early believer in Siri, but after Siri has disappointed me so many times, I found that Google has a much bettor recognition system.

I have to admit buying the 4s only for Siri.

Siri was rarely on point. Google accuracy is the best voice app I've had.

Both companies now realize how far behind internationally this long neglected form of interfacing is. I would expect by this time not to have to use an interface beside my voice.

Google's light went on this week when it announced that they would be spending more on their VR system.

If Apple locks Siri up, Google will take the lead in a most significant race. This should have been perfected by now, calling out everybody.

I would never send a message with Siri, nor let it make a call without double checking, Google I wouldn't but would have more faith in it. Nuance works well some of the time.

Because of the Tower of Bable I am extremely disappointed in technology. The world is so far behind. Way before now I think it's barbaric to not have a flying car on my porch.

Haha I know, I never have a problem with her recognizing every word I say. It's always on point. I guess if you had an accent, or a speech impediment, or talked too quickly, she might have trouble following.

I just am curious as to what people expected Siri to do for them. It's only the beginning for Siri. I like it, I think it's a useful tool, and it never lets me down. Sure she cant bake me cookies, or drive my car for me...but I'm not a lazy fat ass, and can do those things myself.

Not so fast cowboy. Do a litle research and you'll find people using Siri to start engine, open boot, switch engine off...even one guy created IBeer with Siri lol

I use Siri and so far she has done a great job on keeping me punctual. I set up reminders and alarms for almost everything that I may need to do that day. I also use the speech to text when I need to free my hands for other things. The occasional google search and mathematical problem comes up too although not as often (dont want to seem stupid talking to my phone in public).

I think most of the dissatisfied people are just unorganized people. Seems like most of you need to brainstorm on why you aren't using siri.

Siri can actually be a lot faster to use in some instances, like finding the weather or even some facts (You can ask how far away the moon is and it will tell you quickly). But I'd never actually use Siri to do these things in public, even with the phone to my ear. I still like that its there though.

I use it all the time!! whole point of buying the 4s lol. The more you use it the better it seems to get. Its amazing and just getting started.

I'm clueless as to why some people don't use it or even turn it off?

anyways thats my opinion

I love Siri! I use it a great deal in the car. It's so convenient to be able to check your texts and send texts without ever looking at your phone.

I've also found it's a lot quicker to set up calendar events using Siri than by actually typing it in. Whenever Siri gets the ability to turn on and off things such as WiFi, Cellular Data, etc., I'll use it even more.

For those wondering, Siri correctly guesses what I'm saying about 90% of the time. And I'm from South Carolina and have a huge Southern accent. For those that can't get Siri to understand anything they say, I'd hate to hear what your accent sounds like. ;)

I use it all the time for texting, as long as you speak clearly and pronouce the words, works pretty well. Only time I might have touble with it is when background noise is high.

Haven't really use it much for the features as of yet.

Another vote for "every day"

  • When walking or driving
  • Multi-taking (way easier to use Siri than interup what I'm doing)
  • There are some things that Siri does just faster (set reminders; text a person; set an alarm)

I'm amazed at the accuracy, particularly dictation. It's really stunning, getting even proper names correct. You can also start seeing the future when more commands are added and the service is opened up to vendors. Siri is simply way ahead of the field, and that definitely includes Android's good, but very limited, command oriented service.

I agree, I use siri often everyday.
With siri, there is no longer ever a reason for my to click home, swipe, click home button again, tap phone, tap contacts, scroll for a number, tap call.
I don't care if I'm driving, or just sitting in front of the TV, I push and hold, then tell siri who to call.

No more sticky notes everywhere, when something pops into my head, click and hold one time, and siri sets a reminder. "Bob birthday january 4th" - "Call Marcie at 4:30"

Finally, never have to turn down the music or tv to listen if the oven timer is going off -

I have already set reminders 1 week in advance for all family member's b-days so I have time to mail something out -

With locations services turned on, siri is never lost and can tell me where the nearest KFC is if I simply ask her, (I can't google search while I'm driving) -

I stopped using the calculator app on my phone, siri now does my math -

If I am sitting alone with both hands free and no distractions, I still click and hold and let siri pull up my contact and type out my text message, (I have no reason to go tap, tap, tap with my thumbs, when I can simply dictate) -

I am a mechanic by trade, do you know how many times in one day I reach into my pocket, push and hold, and say, "Call Napa" -

I live in Chicago and Siri works very well here.
If I lived in the UK or elsewhere with connections problems/and or speech recognition problems, then I would throw this POS iphone 4s off the 1st bridge I crossed, cause it ain't nothing more that a repackaged 4 that I was forced to sign a 2 year contract to get -
I am very dissapointed with the 4s, but Siri definitely makes it easier to swallow. When she has more control in the future to open apps like Facebook, Weather Radar, Pandora, then she will be special -

Yeah thats what I am hoping for. The other day I tried having her open an app, and she said "I'm sorry I can't do that for you."

I'm hoping Apple enables her to do that in the future.

But yeah, I think Siri is useful, just an added bonus.

another vote for "i use siri all the time"

I use her mostly in the car to send text messages, emails or to set reminders

I love the reminders about, when I get home, remind myself to "__________"

but text messages get the most usage out of siri overall.

However, I use her to search google, or search local business I need the phone numbers to.

If you don't have a use for siri, then you probably dont even use your phone that much anyway.
