The 5C was a complete waste of time and resources. All that could have been put into making a better iPhone 5S - and have more of them available too.

I'm gifting the 5C as a birthday gift to my sister. Upgrading from a feature phone for her.

The 4S would have been great for her except it doesn't support TMobile well.

Well, if no one is interested in the 5c, then why did we have to go to two different best buy locations (and call a third) last night, to find my wife the 5c in the color that she wanted? (Sprint, Blue)

One of the Best Buy's even had a big LCD screen showing current stock/availability of the different colors/carriers for the 5c. About 2/3 of the various models were sold out.

The 5c is selling very well. It may not be popular among the stuck up crowd on this forum, but those of us lowly people who don't base our self worth on having the top end phone like the 5c just fine.

For the record, I'm a computer geek (network engineer). I'm very into tech stuff, even my hobbies have to do with varying types of tech stuff. However, I don't want the 5s. I don't see enough hardware improvements to warrant the extra $100. I will be getting my white 5c next week (couldn't preorder on the company account), but I've been happy with my iPhone 4 for the last few years. While I may be a geek, I'm also cautious with how I spend money. I don't find self worth in the latest/greatest and I don't put down other people for making different decisions than I do.

It's a shame that so many people here on this forum feel the need to degrade others based on their choice of phone purchase. That's just ridiculous.

I think most people are missing what is absolutely wrong with the 5C and don't understand why some of us show so much concern.

The 5C is absolutely the opposite of what Jobs would've done. At least in his best years.

Apple line up has always consisted of: High-end product and a lower-spec convenient device.

Remember the iPods?? There was this big HDD iPod, and then different breeds of more portable, cheaper and with less capacity iPod line.

Remember the MacBooks?? A 13" cheaper policarbonate MB and the 15" and 17" high end aluminium.

Along came the MBA being ultraportable and expensive. Somewhere in the line it became the entry price computer replacing the white Macbook.

Then the iPad and the iPad mini. Not only the iPad mini is cheaper, but it serves a different function than the iPad.

Do you see the patron there? The iPhone 5C doesn't fit in.

Basically what Apple is saying is: We will sell you last year scraps, in a new beautifully colored enclosure, costing 84% of the current flagship while offering 50% the computing power. But not only that!! We will give you technology that we just announced we plan on killing in the mid term because we are moving to 64 bit. Furthermore instead of lowering the price of the 5C accordingly to the lowered manufacturing cost, we will rise our margins, because we think everyone is stupid!!

Why does this bother me?? Because I'm not quite sure people is smart enough to not get the 5C. The 5C will kill Apple in the long run if it is successful.

Instead of Apple lowering prices innovating, just like with the MacBook Air. They will go by the numbers, and rise margins by lowering manufacturing complexity, in which in some cases imply lowering quality. If Apple is successful enough, it will infect the high-end devices as well hindering innovations.

Bottom line is. Apple has suffered a biggest shift in its vision, than I thought.

Job's Apple: We will give you the best product in the world. We will innovate like no other company in the globe, but we will charge you accordingly and a bit more to keep on funding innovation.

Cook's Apple: We will try by all means to reduce our manufacturing costs. But we will still sell you expensive, because you know what? We don't sell cheap stuff. Innovation?? The market is all about iteration.

The iPhone 5C is Apple's first product in a DECADE or more, that brings absolutely nothing new to the table. Absolutely nothing!!!!
One of the best posts I have read in a while here

This thread should be closed. There is a popular thread with people posting great photos of the 5C. The phone has received strong reviews - the Verge ranks it among the best smartphones available, really only behind the 5S. There are reports of people being really pleasantly surprised by the strong build quality. Just give it a rest.

For the user that upgrades every year the 5C has little to offer. For everyone else it's a great phone.

Yesterday when I bought my 5s there was a mom (hot at that) that picked up a 5s for her husband and 3 5c for her and her two kids. And I won't lie, the yellow was pretty nice.

Not everyone upgrades their smartphone every year. Take myself for example, I don't currently own a smartphone but am considering one. I'm looking at the 5C and 5S. I know I'd be perfectly content with probably even the 4S since it's all new to me.

Yeah, I snapped. I figure if I wait another year I would get next to nothing for my iPhone 4. Right now I can probably get close to $200 for it via Amazon/eBay, essentially making this a free upgrade.

I just got an unlock approval from AT&T so I'll be putting it up for sale as an unlocked phone later today, probably on Amazon.

Aweseome! Hope you enjoy your new phone as much as I'm enjoying mine!

Wow I'm beginning to see why some people dislike Apple fans. Go to a store and hold the 5C in your hand. It totally feels like a premium phone and better than just about any other plastic phone out there. Have people forgotten that the 3G and 3GS were plastic? IMO the build quality on these phones is better than either of those Steve Jobs phones.

the C is the same thing as the 5. Just get the 5 at walmart for free or $49 bucks. Tho Walmart also has the 5c for 79 bucks...

issue is you have to go to Walmart and I hate that place. Don't like how they treat their employees and the people who go there are questionable

I got the 5 C and Love it! and for your Walmart Quote,I live in a small town where Walmart is the place to go to get groceries and stuff.
I resent your Comment that people that go to Walmart are "questionable"
There is nothing questionable about me,I have a Degree in IT Technology, make good money and I see nothing wrong with shopping at Wal-Mart.
I didn't want the 5s,been waiting a long time for a colored iPhone .
Some people are so stuck up on here!

I kinda like it, I'm thinking about getting the blue or white 16GB version for a work phone :) my intention was to have a look at them when I was in buying my 5s 64GB but with the excitement I left the Apple store without thinking...

Whilst not for me, I think the 5C is going to appeal to a lot of people! People that don't really care about the speed of the 5S or fingerprint scanner will be immediately drawn to the bright colours. People who care about spending $100 (or so) less will care, but that still want a new phone. This is an incredibly intelligent move by Apple, IMHO, but we'll see how it plays out I suppose.

All this "Jobs would never do this" talk - what a bunch of crap. Of course he would. He did! Remember the plastic MacBook? That was fine for him and beloved by many, despite cracking problems. This was a smart move by Apple, IMO. Had they attempted to offer the iPhone 5 at a discount, it would likely have been an 8gb model to make up for the costs associated with the materials and production of the shell. And 8gb iPhones fit very few lifestyles these days. I haven't seen a single review that didn't note the high quality feel of the 5c shell. So Apple is now able to bring us usable size mid-level iPhones. I'm glad, this is what I want and need. I don't like the 5/5s aluminum shell. I can't possibly use the speed of the A7 with what I do. Bring on plastic!

Exactly, every time I see a post with "Jobs,,,blah blah," I quickly leave it. Some people just live in the past...or think they know best. Give me Cook over Jobs any day!!

The 5c is a definitaly beautyfull phone!

The snobbish aversion towards is realy rediculous. It reminds mem of the never ending Android vs iPhone discussion. "But Android has x features more per $" So ********** what?!

In fact, i think the only people who complain loudest are cheap fandroids who wanted to jump on to the iOS train since they've heard rummors about a cheap iPhone. The 5c. And now that they realized, they still can't afford it, they are pissed and try to spoil it to others.

The 5c is just a slightly improved and design variated 5. So why should it cost less than what the iPhone 5 would have costed if it wasn't discontinued. Because plastic is so cheap you deserve an extra discount? Sure..

The ones who dislike the plastic shell, never have held a 5c in their own hands. It's an extrodinary feeling! It's heavy, feels very solid and seems to be prety scratch resistant. It feels like a single piece. No squeaking, even if you realy try to press it. No giving in. The haptics are very nice. For sure, the most pleasant feeling phone I've tried. It feels more like ceramics, like a review pointed out. That's true but at the same time it feels more sturdy and less fragile and never as cold as metal or ceramics can get.

It's a class of its own. And I'm sure it will sell very well. Even more after people have seen and held it themselves.

That's what you got from these threads? It's a discussion led by iPhone users. It's no android user conspiracy to demean the 5C. It's a bunch of iPhone users pretending Steve Jobs never used plastic.

I'm just annoyed that they had 5C preorders and not 5S in the states. Gross. They're obviously trying to push the 5C.

...Go to a store and hold the 5C in your hand. It totally feels like a premium phone...

I played with a blue 5c in Fry's yesterday. It felt like a slab of polished granite. Much, much thinner than I was expecting, too. And the blue looked stunning (not what I was expecting). Can't comment on the other colors as Fry's only had the blue one out on display.

A lot of people are going to be very happy with a 5c. I would be.

I was upgrading from a 4S and decided on a white 5C rather than the 5S. I much prefer the ergonomics of the C and the S doesn't offer me anything I actually need or would make use of, personally. The camera in the 5/5C is completely satisfactory for what I use a phone camera for (I am a photographer and almost always have a m43 Olympus with me if not a Nikon DSLR) and I don't lock my phone now so the fingerprint scanner was a non-starter for me. All my sensitive information is encrypted on my phone via other means.

The additional CPU/GPU horsepower is cool, but since I am not remotely interested in games on my phone, the power is largely wasted. The 5C is quite smooth with iOS7 and I don't use anything that taxes the platform at this point. Computers are getting to be similar as well - any current Mac is more than fast enough for what most people use a computer for, and unlike years ago, the software isn't outrunning the hardware.

Bottom line - either iPhone is good enough from a features/performance standpoint for me and I greatly preferred the 5C packaging. Saving $100 was gravy.

BTW, I got white for the retro Apple look :) I would have preferred a true red (rather than pink) or a dark royal blue.

If this phone were a little cheaper, it would sell like hot cakes. Heck, I'd get one for my wife and one for each of my kids. I'm a tech nerd so I always want the flagship but for them, they just want something that works, has apps, and looks cool. But since it is still priced at a premium there is little reason to get it. Not sure Apple ever cares to lower margin to grow market share though. AT least not yet

Ordered my 5C on Friday after stopping by an Apple store to play with one! My iPhone 3GS was black and white and I loved it so I knew exactly which color to get. I originally had doubts about the phone until I actually held it in my hand. Shockingly the Apple geeks on this website seem to be the only ones trashing the C and for no real apparent reason either but of course the C wouldn't appeal to you when you upgrade at every opportunity Apple offers.

The 5C is going to do just fine. The users of this forum aren't it's target demographic. Soccer moms and teens are the target for this phone, not the techies and phone nerds. I know this is what my wife, mom, and grandma will all be getting. It will really be a bargain next year when it drops to $0 on contract.

If Apple wanted people to buy the 5c, they shouldn't have come out with the 5s.

It the 5c was called the 5s, it would have sold record numbers.

They could've released the iPhone 5s a year later and call it the 6.
