I'm waiting for the small MBP. My PBG4 died last week and I don't want to get a MacBook because it's plastic. I can't get a 15" MBP because it's 0.2" larger than the PBG4 and it won't fit in my briefcase.

I really hope they keep the aluminum case, as it's probably the most important aspect of a laptop. Plastic just seems cheap. It'd be nice if they kept the standard MBP keyboard for the small MBP.

Oh, and Apple better as hell not make the glossy screen standard.

Count me in too. Going for the 17inch, I hope with nice upgrade! Though I might miss my 2 22inch CRT iiYama monitors, which I have connected to my PC now... Maybe if I have good new assignments (I am webdesigner freelancer) I can sell my PC and buy a Mac Pro also later this year...

Hoping for a 17" LED hi-res screen, decent battery life, and no burnt thighs after using it for a while!

Been waiting for a couple of months to buy, so just waiting for the Penryn. Hopefully with a 2.8GHz processor option.

You will have burning thighs.

I have a new 17" 2.6, with 4gig ram and 200 gig 7200 rpm high res.

The new 2.8 Penryn puts out nearly as much heat as the 2.6. I doubt Apple will be changing the case to a less conductive materials.

I think burning thighs are here to stay, but I could be wrong.

The current MBP's may depreciate dramatically. The new touchpad
and flash drives will make the old models look like model T's.
This could be a huge move to a new plateau.

in response to the title of this thread, wouldn't it be a good idea to put an actual list of usernames in the first post by editing of those who have said they will buy on the 15th?? that way those that may be interested in getting one but want to wait can follow the progress of early adopters of the new mbps and monitor how they get on.

just a thought

:apple: forever!

While it's possible, the likelihood is that only the ultra-portable MBP will come with a flash drive, they're just not big enough for a MBP, which is a professional laptop.
Also, we know little to nothing about this "new trackpad", and until something substantial surfaces, we should regard it as mere speculation; especially when advising people to sell their beloved MacBook Pro's.

Very good idea, ibizarocks.

yeah it would be cool we could see who actually got one and such and give reviews

it will be like an internet club

definitely me. I'm gonna put the MacBook in my sig up on eBay, and the marketplace. then get an MBP..

I'm on the fence right now as I am perfectly content with my first generation MacBook. The problem is the fact that I have some money to burn and a new Apple would be awesome. I don't know if I should jump on the latest and greatest Mac train, go for the current iMac, or just buy nothing all together.

Maybe I'll wait it out longer since my MacBook's extended warranty (AppleCare) runs out next year.

I would for sure jump on a new Mac Mini though - that is if Apple doesn't kill it.

I'm buying on the 16th.

If it's available same day, I'm gonna go down to an Apple Store and check it out. If I don't think it's worth shelling out $2000+ for, I'll buy one of the current ones (the ones out right now) for a lot less.

However, I really hope they come out with a brilliant new MacBook Pro shipping the same day because i really need one for school and I've been waiting for too long!

I might. I'm waiting to see what they introduce and then I'll make up my mind. I'm still debating between the MBP & MB.

Im waiting until about next september, If the subnotebook can match or beat the performance of my current model, which will still be top-of-the-line for another week:rolleyes:

I went down to my Apple store after Christmas to get a MBP and the guy there hinted to wait for the new one coming out. So I am definitely waiting, but when will it be out? February 15?

People were hoping for it at January 15th's Macworld keynote. It didn't surface - we could be waiting another month, maybe even more!

I gave in and got a 15.4" 2.4 GHz C2D MBP. I think people are freaking about a new one so I got this for more $700 off the MSRP. I am good with that and would have waited longer if this deal didn't drop in my lap! :D

I am definitely waiting on the new Macbook Pro. I know it may seem like I am a fresh new member here but I have been following the rumors closely on the site and I can't wait for Apple to release the new MBPs. My old Toshiba A20 is taking a beating (I've had it for at least 4 years, going on to 5th) and I need something new and updated. This is going to be my first time getting a Mac computer. Ever since I was small, I was brought up with PCs (dad is a computer programmer so I had access to a computer early on :p) but he was quite surprised when I said I wanted a MBP as my next laptop. The thing is, I am done with Windows, I've become too frustrated with their OS and while XP is decent, getting a new laptop would mean I would have to deal with the crappy Vista (I worked on a Vista laptop and it's just horrible), so Apple's the way to go. :)
