A lot of people don't see the subtle advancement Apple does. A lot of apple product is not just beautiful on the outside but skin deep.
People generally tend to look for things like more RAM faster CPU more megapixels and even screen size. But nobody notices design advancement and reasoning behind it at all until they take it for granted.
Much like this case. Bravo.

I have an uncle who works at apple but left recently due to illness. Uncle Steve let on that a bigger screen was not kn the cards but the total package of iOS 5, a boosted new iPhone 4 and some other special sauce would blow me away.
I don't want to say where he ranked in the company as it might give him away.

At this point, I couldn't even articulate for you what my personal definition of "blown away" would be, but it was an interesting exchange, and part of me doubts very much that anyone could expect to be blown away by the 4S. Then again, another part of me doubts that he knows much (if anything at all) about it, so I revert to my previous statements: this has been an agitating cycle!

There is still a lot of people waiting for the new phone not to get it, But that the older model gets cheaper so they can afford them.
Not every has $199 in free cash to spend on a phone let alone $499 and upwards.

In all seriousness how old are you. I ask this not to be offensive but to get an idea of what sort of demographic is more concerned about form over function to such an extreme degree.

I'm 25. It's not necessarily that i have anything against the 4/S form factor, it's just i'd prefer a bigger screen not to mention just a fresh look.
Of course I'll be happy to have an A5 processor and 8mp camera in a 4S because my 3GS is crapping out on me.... But a 4S model alone just does not keep Apple on top of the competition in my opinion.

If the 4S rumors are correct the new iPhone will be a major leap forward.
To anyone running benchmarks (to see if they own the fastest phone) or who like having conversations with a machine like they're an extra on Star Trek -- yes, it will be a major leap forward.
For the rest of us, iOS5 will work fine on 3GS and iP4s while we wait for a real upgrade to come next summer.
Praying it is a 5 with a bigger screen

Possible 3D is very unlikely!
Not so sure about the 3D think there might be a surprise there, Apple lead where others simply follow, assistant is just a gimmick tbh, get weird stares in the street for using it so I don't see it being this years game changer like "retina display" was last year, 3D capability without the need for glasses would be a game changer
