well Let's TALK iPhone is obvs about the new Assistant feature no one will ever use, just like the facetime camera. a feature u use once and never again lol

it just depends on what assistant can do. if i can tell it "set alarm for 8:30am" and it does it faster and easier than standard ways I'll be all about it.

"send text to xxxx, say blablabla" would be awesome when driving, same with searching for places and getting directions

I would love if it is aware of your activities and you could program it to make sure you got out of bed, yell at you when you're about to eat junk, motivate you when you're feeling down, give logical advice, etc..

No one uses FaceTime because it relies on Wifi which is a fault of the carriers, and not Apple.

Hey, be happy with what you get. Here in Australia we still have internet caps because our a**hole government actually took the telco's word for it when they said "you need caps."

I'm on one of the best plans with our best carrier in Australia and I only get 1.5GB, for $59 a month! How crap is that!?

Remember the last Macbook Pro Update ?

Remember the last Macbook Pro Update ?

It had been well over a year since the last update, rumors about apple replacing the 3 year old unibody shell to some thinner liquid metal body everywhere. And what did Apple release?
The same looking MBP with a Sandy Bridge Spec Bump to close the gap to the competition. I got it anyway since its a great Laptop but Apple just isnt too focused on hardware and not as disruptive as you all might think. They release new stuff when THEY think the time is right, not when competitors do.

Gee,

Vodafone's prepaid cap $49 gives you 3GB of data.

Here's to the iTouch 3G.
It's being tested in any case.

My feeling is that one of two things is going to happen -

1. Apple releases a faster A5 chip "iPhone 4S" which will be officially known as iPhone 5.
2. Apple releases a cheap (perhaps unlocked prepay) iPhone 4S first, followed by the release of an iPhone 5 with the new teardrop design, larger screen.

There is NO way in hell they are going to release an iPhone 4S (and call it iPhone 4S without there being a higher class product) and shoot themselves in the foot marketing wise. Imagine their flagship phone being called an iPhone 4S when there is no reason for them not to call it iPhone 5. The only reason for there to be a 4S is if there is a 5.

Besides it would confuse the numbering sequence for the next iPhone - would it be a sixth gen iPhone 5? - it would make no sense. Also following that logic - iPad 2 should have been called iPad 1.5 or iPad S.

I bet my bottom dollar there will be an iPhone 5 tomorrow - the big question is whether it is a major redesign or not and whether if there is - there is also an iPhone 4S released alongside a redesigned iPhone 5.

how about a place where the cell phone companies dont have to lie to the government and just collude with each other to keep prices artificially high? i pay the same amount for a third of your bandwidth.

canada is hard to beat when it comes to the worst place to own a mobile phone

4s, 4s, all I see is 4s. Ain't gonna happen folks (except in the unlikely event they release two phones)

Apple will release the iPhone 5 today. I will be shocked if it looks identical to the 4. Of course the evidence doesn't support a redesign and a 5, thats the beauty of it! They've kept it totally secret.

If it looks like the phone in the Sprint article, I'll buy one for sure, that thing looks amazing, simple, sleek, no ridiculous stretched home button! It looks a little thin, but we all know how much Apple loves to flatten their devices...

I live in Australia and I'm with optus, Im on a $29 cap and I have to pay an extra $17 for the phone each month and I only get 200mb :(

I get a sneaky feeling that IOS 5 will be released today. :D

On a sidenote, with Steve Jobs gone; will there be a "one more thing" and if so what will it be?

Based on the latest WSJ and BGR rumor, my take :

Don't care to read through 26 pages, so don't know if this has been posted yet. What if (and I am getting down voted here I'm sure), just imagine this, what if the redesigned "iPhone 5" is actually the new Sprint iPhone 4S.

The slimmer teardrop shape with the internals of the iPhone 4, shrunk to fit. A4 processor, 5 MP camera on front facing VGA camera, bigger lower PPI screen, same 960x640 resolution (4", 280 or so PPI) all packaged up and called the iPhone 4S, with the S meaning Sprint.

The iPhone 5 is the iPhone 4 look-alike with A5 processor, 8 MP camera, voice assistant thingie, more RAM, more storage, better than ever battery and the same IPS 3.5" screen we all love.

Now that my friends would be a hoot. :p All this time, the "redesigned" iPhone was the low-cost option and Sprint is getting an exclusive on it. I'm saving this to quote myself tomorrow if this comes true.

Yep, going against the crowd and betting the iPhone 4S is the "redesigned" model with the iPhone 5 being the same case as the iPhone 4 and the much better internals.

Of course, they might surprise us with things like the "iPhone Air" and the "iPhone Pro" and drop all these stupid numbers.

Speedbump = Who cares, only geeks and developers, iPhone 4 is fine.
Bigger Camera = Who cares, MP mean *****, images will still be grainy
Assistant / iVoice = Won't use, great for loud Americans, taxi drivers and the bluetooth headset brigade, same people who wear socks with sandals and bums bags(fannypacks)
World Phone = Who cares, Americans don't travel or get holidays anyway and I have travelled to 30 countries with my iPhone and never had an issue.
iO5 = full of features that have been around with a Jailbreak forever. WhatsApp > iMessenger.

What me really want:

Larger Screen
Cool Redesign
Better battery
NFC
LTE
Better headphones
Beats Audio

Nexus Prime > iPhone 4GS

How the hell does it make sense to give a speed bump to the iPhone 4 and then call it the iPhone 5, while a new design is called the 4S?

Do you understand how Apple names things? Apparently not.

Problem being the Vodafail incident. To you guys who are unfamiliar visit vodafail.com

Again, in either melbourne or sydney optus ain't really an option if you want to, oh, i don't know, want to use your phone, even more so if you want to use data. Telstra is really the only option for higher end phone to get decent speeds with your high end phones.

Let's for a minute imagine we're back in 2009 and you're saying this :

Speedbump = Who cares, only geeks and developers, iPhone 3G is fine.

Looking at it now in 2011, we know the following :

- Every iPhone gets 3 iOS revisions.
- iPhone 3G managed to slip in a barely functionning iOS 4 (it's 3rd revision) with no multi-tasking or desktop wallpapers. A crippled last revision if anything. And it was barely usable on the phone, making the thing crawl and lag.
- iPhone 3GS, the "Speedbump" only geeks and developers care about is now getting iOS 5, it's 3rd revision of iOS. It will be a fully functional release. It also runs quite adequately according to developers who have tried it.

So I think speedbumped phones are more than geek and developer attractions. They are pretty much future-proofing. If whatever comes out this afternoon doesn't interest me enough to pony up 600$ (and my CC is ready), then I know that my 3GS can last another year with confidence. The iPhone 3G owners couldn't even say as much.

Hindsight is always 20/20 and Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it... words to live by.
