apple's new phone based on zack's phone + the inclusion of a mini fusion reactor to power your house.

Anyone from Melbourne or atleast Australia? and knows what site I can watch the replay of tonights "let's talk iPhone" ?

In Melbourne its Tuesday 23:26, in California it's Tuesday 05:26.
You still need to wait 4,5 hours until the iPhone event begins :).
Cheers from Austria/Vienna where it's 14:26 right now :).

I find it hard to believe that Apple would screw ATT customers for Sprint. admittedly money is money, and that is what Apple is in business for.

Agreed, my only concern is that Sprint doesn't have a proven track record when it comes to marketing it's products. While they didn't drop $20BILL USD on the Palm Pre they did secure exclusivity for the first 6 months, but did almost nothing to promote it which ultimate allowed Android to get stronger, and eventually take over. I'm sure this is nothing but a rumor here. We will know in a few hours, I'm pretty pumped!

If you have a true partnership, then you discuss all major purchases, especially electronics.

Yeah, right, I'm going to ask my girlfriend if she's okay with me spending a couple hundred bucks on a new phone  What the hell, dude? She'd probably give me a puzzled look and tell me "it's your money".

Or do you think a "true partnership" is one in which the partners don't have control over their own funds? Holy hell.

As others have Said. I have a true partnership. I am married, kids, joint mortgage, shared bills. So yes when spending several hundred pounds out of "our" money it is right we discuss these things. Clearly you have a different personal situation. That does not make me pathetic.

It's a paid app? I have FaceTime on my iPhone 4, iPad 2, and my 2011 MacBook Pro, all for free, never paid for any of them.

Only works on Apple products? Well I thought that one was a given, considering it was created by, and for Apple products.

The Wifi issue is likely set in place due to carrier data restrictions, and not one Apple is too fond of I'm sure. Just like MMS, and tethering that took forever to actually come.

Yes, it is in Australia (Looks like we got ripped again!!! WTF do people keep on insisting on ripping us off??). It's not much, only 99c, but why would I pay that when I can use skype on everything?

The telco issue is a big one. Australia's Telco's don't allow skype, or charge for the data outside the cap at 25c a MB.

My partnership is no less true than your own and while it does not make you pathetic that you bow in slavery to your wife, I do not have to discuss anything with my own consort. If she's not happy with what I do with "my" money, the door is there for her to walk out of.

I don't do joint accounts, we keep our stuff separate and thus there is nothing to argue about as long as the expenses are covered.

True relationships are all different. Your mileage may vary. Do not presume to say your relationship is truer because you lack freedom of spending.

Now, that being said, ATT has a few problems, 4G/LTE, I am looking forward to the new iPhone!

He's got a girlfriend and has no idea so don't even bother. The fact that he called you pathetic should be all you need to know.

When you're married with kids it gets a little more complicated. Kids need new clothes, shoes, toys. Who pays? My wife is a stay at home mum. Looking after my children. I'm not going to leaver her penniless cause she doesn't have her own income. We share everything.

It's a long wait during these days in the UK. We've got a full day to endure first :(

Dang, I didn't know that. :(

I really feel we are on the brink of something special, a momentous moment in Apple's history that they have succeeded in keeping under wraps, a product that is going to shock the rest of the mobile phone community to the core, maybe it is the pre keynote excitement I dunno but I think in 4 hrs 22 mins something special is going to be unveiled.

I think apple's successfully tricked us all. All this 4S hullabaloo the past few months is just Apple toying with our rumor reading minds as payback to the lost iPhone 4 that was found oh so long ago.

- You don't wait 16 months for just a speed bump.
- You don't let your iconic ceo step down and have you're replacement, which everyone in the tech industry will be harshly judging, launch your next, and most anticipated product being only a speed bump.
- You don't release iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5 with a product named 4S.

They also need to redesign it just to shut people up about the antenna. If it has the same form factor everyones just gonna be complaining about their cell reception when the thing comes out regardless if there's a problem or not.

Anyway, I bet those at Apple are just grinning thinking about how well they have kept this thing under wraps, and can't wait to hear Cook say up on stage "one more thing..."

While anything is possible, I don't think it's unreasonable to think they spent the extra time between releases perfecting the killer software features (Assistant, other things we may not know about). Remember when Apple released a new version of OS X that had hardly any new features for the user and was almost exclusively under the hood optimizations? After what they did with Snow Leopard, I don't put it past them to take the time to really optimize iOS and update the software features to better compete with Android.

Don't you think that Apple has had it's product road map planned out for much longer than the last 6 months, and that it was entirely possible that Steve hadn't decided to step down as CEO before they decided what iPhone hardware was going to be released? At this point, its likely that Apple is well into the testing and development of the iPhone 6 and thinking about the iPhone 7. I think it's safe to say that whatever Apple is releasing today has been in development since before the iPhone 4 came out. They could have an iPhone 4S and an iPhone 5, but it's not like if they only had an iPhone 4S Apple went "Oh no, Steve stepped down, we need to release an iPhone 5!"

Finally, do you really think that Apple needs or has to release an iPhone 5 because there is iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5?? I've seen that idea somewhere once already, and I think it's as absurd now as I did then. Did Apple have an iPhone 2 when iPhone OS 2 came out? Is there something wrong with the iPad 2 and iOS 4?

It's what I call the "Australia" tax. 'Oh, you live in Australia? +130% price for you!.'

I recently imported a guitar from the US, $2925 USD (about $2700AUD when I bought it), and yet if I were to import it here, the best price I could get was $6000. Same with Apple things. iPad in the US is $499 for entry level, whereas here it was $570, despite the Australian dollar being 1 AUD buys 1.06 USD at the time.

We get ripped in everything :(

Not as much as us Brits get ripped off, we were the only major nation that got an App Store increase this year, basic apps went up from 59p to 69 and 4.99 apps to 5.99 etc so there is a UK premium charged by Apple, I am happy to pay it as it is Apple but the rest of the world get off lightly compared to us

Funny reading these posts

Amazing how soooo many people get worked up over a phone!! Apple has done its job well!! I mean seriously losing sleep over a press release!! Funny thing once the new Iphone release comes and goes then its back to wanting more for next year. Cycle starts all over again. Thats why apple banks on this. My wife works for a major marketing firm in New York City and Apple is one of there clients. She has amazing stories some days on how they operate.

Needless to say I have an Iphone 4 heavily jailbroken without one glitch and operates amazingly daily. Unless apple releases a new device that has a bigger screen I will most likely stick with current model. My processor is just as fast with clock up. I already speak text for messages and so much more. I would say my Iphone jailbroken is equivalent to and Iphone 10 once apple catches up with all the tweaks!

A bigger screen with an IOS jailbreakable 5 would be great but not holding my breath.

As for sprint getting one phone not likely as instructed by my wife

In fact, the Mywi tethering app alone on Cydia will make me wait until the new phone is jailbroken. Even if it does have a larger screen.

How did the Pound compare to the USD? Thing is that australia got a minor price improvement on somethings (base cost of an iTunes song is still $1.69, compared to 99c US), but our dollar had major gains against the USD. I didn't follow the pound, did it do the same? If so then that sucks too :( I think apple should adopt universal pricing.... but why would they when Aussies and Brits will pay the higher price?

the thing is Apple has NEVER released two products of the same kind within close succession. This is due to the fact that, no one will buy the first released product, if they know the second released product is right around the corner. And why release the iPhone 5 AFTER christmas?

However, due to the lack of evidence that no iPhone 5 has leaked onto the net, it is a sad indicator that apple is releasing it at a later date.

That or they will have pulled off the greatest bluff the industry has ever seen.

Bravo either way Apple, you continue to astonish, confuse, and intrigue the masses.

It is only a paid app for those devices sold prior to it's release

Any new apple device it is free (and has been that way for a while now).

That doesn't make your relationship any truer. It just means you gave away your freedom. That doesn't make you pathetic.

I'm pretty sure the GST is responsible (at least in part) for the price difference.

I'm also from Melbourne btw, you planning to stay up for the event in another 3 or so hours?
