Let’s hope LG’s OLED panels don’t have the consistency issues that the Pixel 2 experienced. Otherwise, I look forward to the side-by-side comparisons with the Samsung OLED panel from The 5.8 iPhone X to the 6.5 X Plus LG panel if true.

I read some where that Apple calibrates each iPhone display individually so color reproduction consistency should be good.

Well Apple shouldn't have done business if they got screwed, Apple let it happen because they needed to rush the X to the market
Samsung is going to screw Apple, any other manufacturer would have done that because when there is no competition they can demand what ever price they want, its just business. Thats why Apple is working with LG to create competition.

What a shame because Samsung has amazing displays as a fan will admit to that
Competition is good for Apple, I don't think customers will see any difference.

Not saying my wifes v30 screen isn't nice, it is, but even she admits next to my s9+ screen it looks shabby.

That is because Samsung over saturates all their colors with their screens and it makes them pop more which makes them look better. And in reviews, they aren't. LGs are more accurate. I wish people could ignore the saturated colors and see the screen itself for how sharp it is and how accurate the colors are.

My wife and I own both phones and it is not color saturation. It is the sharpness and clarity which makes the Samsung screen far better. It is just, well, clear compared to her v30. Her v30 does not look more color accurate side x side.

I owned both a S9+, Note 8, and LG V30 before I sold two of those. And had them side by side. It was clear the colors made the difference not the screens.

If the LG display is better than the Samsung OLED display in my iPhone X, I'd be happy to purchase the next iPhone.

The current Samsung display is my only iPhone X gripe in an otherwise outstanding phone.

The same display that gets rated outstanding by every review site? Your bias is embarrassing sir!!

I actually like the notch. It's more the price. When I looked at the iPhone X, it occurred to me that my phone usage over the years has fallen greatly. I don't need a $1000 phone to look at iMessage.

My usage has also dropped immensely, I really wish they had released an updated SE along with the X. I waited it out long enough but my phone wasn’t performing when I did need to use it, so I had to upgrade. This will be the last time I spend so much on a phone, it is nice but not $1000 nice.

I'll happily spend $1000 on a new iPad because it has become the device I do all my browsing and work on. Having the iPad has meant that I don't need an expensive iPhone any more.

I think buying the 10.5 was what caused me to not use my phone so much. I wish I had paid more attention to how little I was using my phone at that time. It’s completely stopped me from considering laptops as I can do most of the work I have at home on it.

Can't wait to see the bigger version in oled. May have to go back to the bigger size!
LCD screens might be the best way to celebrate the lack of iOS darkmode

You probably wouldn't need pants anymore either as the iPad wouldn't fit them either

I adore it - as much as the Empire State building

Keep those LCD screens coming. A bigger LCD phone, face id and touch id is what I would want to buy.
I second that. But it should come free to existing users.
Why ?
Because Apple spoilt billions in their flawed screen strategy: first with LCD development that went into their own factories, announcing and developing OLED never to materialise (losing more billions along the way with Sapphire), then re-considering going to Samsung and LG, to ultimately buy overpriced Samsung screens, investing in large scale economics to get prices on par with LCD, which didn’t work out, forcing them to restrict overpriced OLED to their top tier, now to switch to LCD again, thereby annihilting the effect of all screen R&D ever. What a lamenting bunch of amateurs.

Can you imagine if other fortune companies were as amateurish as Apple? Billions to Apple is chump change, an experiment. Good for them for keeping both options alive.

Indeed, no other company destroys so much funds in R&D, patents, early prod. development. Because with the massive revenue coming in, there don't seem to be laws of economics or customers that care whether their funding goes into Real Estate, whatever recompensaton, whatever new ventures, whatever whatever. This is not normal economy anymore this is hyper-conomy - where everything is too big to fail. Anyway, the hope for a dark mode for iOS remains...

I own one. Do you?

As a photographer I’m fussy about color, are you?
I'm a colour retouch specialist working in Photoshop for the last 20 years or so, id wager i can tell the difference between what is good and bad colour accuracy pretty well. Can you? Any one can press a button on a dslr

Doubt a color specialist would favor a saturated screen.

Great. I’d love to see some of your work. Simply post a link.

With that aside, again, as you avoided my question, do you own an iPhone X, so you can speak with direct experience as to the display and color issues?

They wouldnt, the basic mode with its natural colours is pretty cool tho..

That said. I like to see colours pop on a photo. When I'm retouching blue chip clients images of poncey food, that's a different matter..

Boy, someones feeling pretty inadequate. Has every comment got to be validated.. just cos daddy bought you a dslr and you like the auto settings, doesn't make you a photographer...

Got it. No work to show, no credibility. And now relying on insults.

And still avoiding my question on owning an iPhone X.
