Huh, I had been under the impression that the intent was that you'd be able to order them at that discounted price at any time through end of December, even if they were out of stock, and they'd just fill orders as stock came in. Apparently this isn't so.

I would likely have tried to order one, but they apparently don't do portrait mode, and I haven't been able to get definite confirmation that they're non-glossy, so nevermind.

Conspiracy theory:

Wait until just after Christmas and everybody is completely spent out and then put it on sale for a few days.

(Not being entirely serious about that I should point out!)

I'm beginning to actually doubt there will be any (more) to purchase before the offer runs out.

Can imagine the moans if it suddenly becomes available en-masse in the first week of January!

Though the they have always said december even before the sale was announced, think it will come within a week

I'd keep checking... I don't know how many times I've looked at picking up an Apple product in-store only to see the availability out a few days and then suddenly have it pop-up as available when store stock updates.

Hmm, I don't know. They all say Dec 29. That seems to be the "street date." Delivery seems to be the best option and should arrive a day or two earlier.

Nah that's not the street date, that's just a conservative ETA for your particular shipment to store. It varies by country by a day or two.

And the discount has been extended until March 31. Perfect - that absolves my of my dilemma of wanting two of them for the next iMac update, but the discount ending this month.

Now the discount is perfect timing for new iMacs!

With Tim announcing that they haven't forgotten about desktops yday, it's interesting to decide whether to use 27" LG's with new TBMBP or new iMac / Mac Pro replacement, but that'll likely be in 3-6 months...

I had a delivery date of next week and after I refreshed the page 2 min later, it got pushed out to 1 more week. Just how many people are ordering this? But at least I was able to get it at the discounted price and its not being delivered 2 months from now. So now I'm in the between Jan 5 to Jan 19 window.

wow that sucks sorry to hear, I got a call about 2 weeks ago to attend an in-person Apple Business meeting at 830am - 930am before the store opened at 10am, it was nice to see them getting people involved.

UK here, ordered 2 of them!
Delivery date set: 2-4 weeks, between 10 - 23 Jan.

(all in store pickups for London were: from 23 Jan — hence me getting delivered!)

That's what I did... but I know when I went to order my MacBook Pro it was similar.. in-store date of X, but I kept checking and it became available much earlier.
