Has anyone else had an issue with actually getting the monitor firmware updated? I successfully updated the LG Screen Manager software, and it prompts me to update the monitor firmware. The monitor update just hangs at 0% complete forever though. I've tried reinstalling, restarting, everything in between, and nothing has made a difference.
I had a bit of weirdness with an error message at the end of the update when I had other peripherals plugged in. Have you tried unplugging absolutely everything (from the Mac and the USB ports on the display) except for the TB3 cable for the display?
Say what? I have a 32" Eizo 4k running at 3840 x 2160, and initially everything was so small I could hardly make out text without a magnifying glass. You must have x-ray vision. I was able to adjust my programs with Preferences values to increase the text size, but some elements still remain very small. I do love this panel, though. I think 36" or so will be the sweet spot for 4k, when they become more available. 32" can be made workable @4k.I thought Dell made a 5K display, but the best I could find on their site was this 32" 4K. It uses Display Port and Mini Display Port and only supports a resolution of 3840 x 2160. That's just not high enough for my taste on a 32" screen.
Considering my 15" laptop has a resolution that is more than half that... and my 27" iMac has substantially higher, I just can't justify it. I have no problem seeing anything... including Adobe InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop's infamous "tiny" interface.Say what? Received my monitor 3 weeks ago after multiple calls to LG, asking them to hurry up.I sent my monitor for service because of a serious image retention problem on May, 22. Today a LG representative said that they would get a "detail" to fix my monitor in August. I will never buy anything from LG again.
My maxed out MacBook Pro TB feels super laggy/slow. I just noticed that is only when docked in clamshell mode to the 5k LG monitor. It is as if there is a very slight latency in my mouse movement and the on screen update that honestly is driving me nuts.
Anyone else having issues? Is this just too many pixels?
Honestly considering either a) nuke and pave machine to rule out any odd software glitches (I tinker too much) or b) selling this and downgrading something that is not going to have lag.
Are you running at 3840 x 2160, or pixel doubled 1080p? Is your 27" iMac a 5K? Then it is probably running pixel doubled at 2560 x 1440.Considering my 15" laptop has a resolution that is more than half that... and my 27" iMac has substantially higher, I just can't justify it. The ONLY advantage to Retina (for me personally) is the increased pixel real estate—so yeah, I run at the highest scaled setting. I don't care about pixel doubling, scaling, true resolution, perceived sharpness, blah, blah and blah. Are you running at 3840 x 2160, or pixel doubled 1080p? Is your 27" iMac a 5K? I run my 13" MBP at its maximum resolution, (scaled), which is 1580 x 1050, and this is about the same size elements as my 32" running at 3840 x 2160 (true 4K).
You must have Superman X-Ray vision, then. I find 4K on a 32" monitor to be difficult until I start making changes to program preferences. Native apps that I cannot change still require me to lean forward and use the reading portion of my bifocals.Well that, and the text is so much sharper... but that's secondary for me.
Anybody see lines of stuck pixels? I have two vertical lines of pixels stuck that suddenly appeared in the last few days. Currently waiting to chat with LG, but wondering if anyone had experience with the outcome.
So I am planning on buying a pc for VR purposes. I want to be able to connect the pc to this fine monitor. I dont care too much if i get 5k, i can satisfy with 4k or 2560 res.
Most new pc graphics cards seems to have hdmi or DisplayPort 1.4. How on earth will I be able to plug it in the LG monitor. Will adapters work? Have anyone here tried?
You need to buy a motherboard with a Thunderbolt 3 expansion card. Even then the experience would not be optimal since the display has no hardware buttons and is controlled by (Mac) software.
