Why would it cost more then the Studio display? It isn’t Apple after all.
The LG 6K will most definitely cost more than the US$1600 base Apple Studio Display. It's a 6K monitor with Thunderbolt 5 after all.

I think looking at the Dell which uses the same panel it’ll be around 2500, I hope. Otherwise it’ll be a lot of saving for me lol.
If it's US$2000, I may buy. At $2500, I'd have to think harder on it. I'll be looking at the other 5K and 6K 32" options too.

When using Thunderbolt, hopefully the LG 6K doesn't NEED Thunderbolt 5 to function. My M4 Mac mini is Thunderbolt 4. I didn't "future proof" by purchasing an M4 Pro Mac mini with Thunderbolt 5 since I predicted the new slate of 5K and 6K 2025 32" monitors (including the LG 6K) will function just fine with Thunderbolt 4 (or HDMI or DisplayPort), and I have no other need for Thunderbolt 5.

I totally agree as I have an M3 Max MacBook Pro so it only has Thunderbolt 4, but Apple stere it can support up to 6K at 60HZ. My works laptop 'should' be able to push it too over display port.
So fingers crossed it'll support older machines.

Because it doesn't compete with Studio Display. It competes with Pro Display XDR as it's 6K. Not so many 6K options on the market.

So do other 6K panels but they don't cost over 3k. I don't think it will cost that much.

The 6K 32" Asus is US$1199, but it doesn't have Thunderbolt 5 nor IPS Black. That's why I'm faintly hopeful for $1999 for the LG 6K, which includes Thunderbolt and IPS Black. That is US$800 or 66.7% more than the Asus 6K. And if not $1999 retail, then $1999 on sale, perhaps Black Friday.

Note that while the Dell 6K with IPS Black is usually considerably more expensive than $2000, it has been as low as US$1849.

As LG's stunning new 45" curved 5K OLED has been priced at 2000, would it be safe the say the new 6K Ultrafine will be around this price too?

I’d say no. That LG is super low density at 123 ppi.

I'm not sure I'd want that. Not for office work on my Mac at least. Curve is too deep. PPI is too low at 45". For games on a PC with a super high-end gaming GPU, it would be great.

Why? It's a pretty unique panel so I'm thinking it might reflect the 6K monitor being 2500 ish. As OLED costs more to make. Although I know some principals can cost a lot more.
I'm being hopeful here lol.

Oh no I agree, it's for gaming really. Just used it as an example.

OLEDs don't have to be super expensive these days. For example, you can buy 48" 4K LG OLED TVs for around US$500.

Anyhow, I believe its pricing in no way would reflect the pricing of a 6K ultra high density IPS monitor. That OLED is a completely different technology and a completely different pixel density class. Meanwhile, Asus will be selling a ProArt 6K 32" monitor for US$1199.

$1199 is making the rounds on twitter and reddit, but I havent seen Asus confirm this anywhere. Do you have a reputable source for this beyond reddit and twitter?

On one of Linus' secondary YouTube channels, their reporter attended CES and reported $1199 from there.

EDIT:

That YouTube video is SPONSORED BY ASUS. I had forgotten about that.

So consider the $1199 confirmed!

Thanks for passing this along, hopefully that price holds. I wouldn't be shocked if it was affected by tariffs somewhat, but even in the ballpark and this is a massive win.

If LG price their new Ultrafine 6K 32" monitor at around 1200 I'll be ecstatic!! A LOT cheaper than I thought it would be.

I've nearly finished my desk setup change, got some laptop arms arriving today and just have to install them. Then I just need the new LG monitor and the relevant cables long enough to cable manage.

If LG or ASUS prices those 6k 32" at 1.200$ I will have a very hard time choosing between this and their upcoming 5k2k 34" OLED at 2.000$.

I do find it extremely unlikely they will hit those low prices though.

The LG will definitely not be $1200. It’s a much higher end unit than the Asus, so the LG will be considerably more expensive.

The LG has IPS Black, Thunderbolt 5, and a much nicer form factor.

I can see Asus hitting that claimed US$1200, or at least close to it, depending upon the effect of tariffs. However, I’m predicting the LG could be US$2000 or more, excluding additional tariffs.

A 5K2K 34” OLED is probably off the radar for me due to the 163 ppi pixel density and the necessity for non-integer scaling which my M4 Mac mini may or may not properly support on such a monitor.

I actually am using a 163 ppi monitor now and it’s fine, but I would prefer to stick with 184+ ppi this time around. For a 5120x2160 monitor, that would mean approx. 30”.

Hopefully not more than 2000, or my 2500 prediction. And YES it has a MUCH nicer form factor lol, its design is partly why I want it. High quality screen I can use for work and anything else without risk of burn in, good PPI, and it looks extremely stylish.

I don’t understand why Asus designs its ProArt monitors to be so ugly.

It is cheaper.
Not necessarily. You can still have a relatively cheap design that doesn't look so bad. My Huawei wasn't expensive and it looks OK.

Also, from what I gather, the menu system on the new 6K ProArt appears to be similar to previous ProArt monitors. I purchased two older ProArts, and the menu system was horrid. The more I think about it, the more I think I probably won't buy the Asus 6K, and will lean towards buying the LG even if the LG costs $800 more (at $2000), and even though I don't own a Thunderbolt 5 machine. (I'm assuming the LG doesn't require Thunderbolt 5 for full display functionality.) We'll see how the LG is priced though, and how bad the Acer 5K 32" is in reviews. The Acer is also pretty ugly though, and it's a gaming monitor.

BTW, for the 4K 32" open box ProArt I bought from Amazon, I received a 1440p model. Some @ss returned a different model in place of the 4K model. However, the units looked exactly the same. Same exact monitor design with the same stand and same bezel, and same awful button placement. There was no way to tell the difference aside from reading the model number on the back or turning it on, so I'm not surprised Amazon missed the fraudulent return.

lol I have that monitor currently, must have similar design tastes. It’s a great monitor design wise, not a bad display, and I love the USB ports on the side of the stand for charging things. I was going to add a second one but they stopped selling it in the UK anyway, probably just as well as I think going to a 32” screen is better for my desk space.
