Breathe. If the Vision Pro isn't for you, that's fine. I like it, I know many others that like it and I know plenty that would buy it at a lower cost. Don't discount that want a product because you don't. Furthermore I stand by my earlier statement that price is the reason most people (key word "most") shy away from it now. Have a wonderful day.
Yes, key word “most”, which is what made me react. Do you actually believe more than half the consumers would buy a Vision Pro for 200 bucks? I don’t. “Most” shy away from it because they don’t have a use for it. Not because of price or the quality of the product.

Not gonna lie, I really want one of these. Honestly don’t care about its PC capabilities, I have a great M1 Mac I barely use. It’s still plenty fast. But I would love to use this for media consumption. I’m sure I’d find other uses too, but I’d really love to see some HD content on these.

I am incredibly sensitive to weights on my head. But I find AVP no problem at all. The only big thing I find missing is an IR camera(s). Apple seemed to think I would sit and watch a movie with every light in the room on. That is not ever going to happen.

That's why you're going to want a lighter version. It's currently uncomfortable wearing for longer than 20 minutes.

At least as an option: Apple Vision Pro not requiring prescription glasses. Not for useless spatial computing. Just to watch 3D movies. And connected to Mac using USB cable. No batteries needed.

Great, but that's still the Vision PRO, not an Air. A POUND on your face is still not comfortable. Honestly this whole device is flawed. VR will always be niche. Smart glasses will be more mainstream.
Maybe… it’s just smart glasses don’t provide enough value. At least with the vision pro/air i can use it for computer privacy.

Just make the pro lighter and better optics for cheaper
Apple: Sony, good job on the Micro-OLED!
Sony: Thanks! Sorry we can’t produce more than a million a year, but we’re happy you like the quality.
Apple: Absolutely. The black levels? The contrast? Top tier! Now, can you do better?
Sony: They’re already industry leading but… Ok, we can do bet..
Apple: And cheaper?
Sony:…
Apple: So, can you make that happen?

HD AND 3D content. It’s impressive. The weight is really on a case by case basis. I’ve watched hours and hours of content at a time, drinks handy (with a straw, of course!) and have even fallen asleep with them on. I do feel a little for the folks that find them uncomfortable or need extra gear to use them, because AVP with the Solo Band is really a unique experience.

I think the issue is even at $50 it won’t sell well.

Because nobody wants to strap a pair of goggles to their face to compute.

I say this as an owner of the vision pro. View attachment 2542884
I want one for a TV replacement. If this new one gets rid of the stupid external battery and adds 120hz, it’s an amazing price for a superb tv watching experience

Still seems like a miss. I think a lot of people would prefer a $500-ish device that looks like glasses and simply plugs into an existing phone or other device to display an extended screen.

My theory is that by overcomplicating this, Apple has blown right past something that many customers would find tremendously useful.

If it improves Mac Virtual Display resoluition, I'll get one for myself.
If it supports software image rotation to correct ocular myasthenia gravis, I'll get another for a friend.

I love love love my Vision Pro. I use it for 100% of my work now as a video director/editor/mograph designer (as virtual display). I can have my notes and reference in different windows, and resize and reposition them as needed for given contexts. I also use it for media viewing, which it is unparalleled for in home entertainment. I think when the price and weight go down, it will eventually become a very popular product. The experience it offers is simply unlike anything else, and I believe when more people experience it, it will be something many find value in.
They wasted years by not releasing the lighter cheaper version sooner. They mad a massive mistake making it have all the belles and whistles that no one really needed and just made it bloated and heavy. Now they’re years behind.

This is stange. Usually you have the Pro models which leapfrog in design and thinness while the air is older design.

How come they will release an air version that is far lighter than the previous pro?

Something is not right. The Pro line should innovate in thinness, lightness and power! Not the Air!
If you think about it, the pro launched with an incredible number of features. This new device would probably strip down some of the less needed features. For example, do people really need to see my cartoon eyes while I’m wearing the device? Do we really need such a high resolution pass through camera?

What I like about this is that I suspect that the new vision air will have most of the current features of the Vision Pro but in a better design. That would then pave the way for a Vision Pro 2.0 to the same physical space but more features.

Unsure how they will make it lighter and cheaper without any tradeoffs (none mentioned?) compared to the Vision Pro. The mention of titanium may help in weight but is titanium cheaper to source, mill and finish than aluminum?
My very first portable computer was a COMPAQ portable. Itwas like carrying around an old electric sewing machine. By the time Apple came out with its power book everything had changed. That’s the nice thing about enjoying technology. They do get cheaper , lighter, and better with time.

They're like 1/10th the price and has games and adult content. Can't possibly fathom why they'd outsell the AVP

That's not the point. The original comment was about how even at a $5 price point , the VP still wouldn't sell because people don't want to "strap goggles to their face".

Of course the VP would sell a ton if it was as cheap as the Quest ( i own the Quest 3 ).

This is purely anecdotal, but we also own a Quest 2, and my wife has a Quest 3S. The Quest 2 also almost never gets touched, and the Quest 3S is used only for her Supernatural workouts for when we don’t feel like going to the gym. My sister’s kid’s also have a Quest 2, and it is also rarely used.

Now the question probably is, “Why do I keep buying them then?”….I like to try new technologies, regardless of how frivolous it is. Vision Pro was that as well.

And even if the VP was as affordable as the Quest, without the apps to back it up, for which right now there is still barely any, it will sit there on store shelves collecting dust.

I would love to see if Meta would release actual user numbers, vs. just sales numbers. Because many people buy it and then just play with it for a few days, and then boom, it sits there forgotten about.

The MacBook Pro is heavier than the MacBook Air.

I swear this company is in shambles would anyone be surprised if it’s pushed back to 2028 2029? Seriously it’s like they were sleeping for five years and have nothing new ready or finance people are just saying screw our customers.
