September 2040: Apple introduces a self-powered RedTooth subdermal implant for its direct visual cortex interface. Now THAT’S what I’m waiting for.

Developers snubbed the Vision Pro because they are so anti-developer with their policies. It's sad - I really want one and will consider buying this but they need more killer apps to make it worthwhile.

Meta Quest 3 is killing it - and they even allow you to use games you bought from Steam!
Steam games? On AVP?

They wasted years by not releasing the lighter cheaper version sooner. They mad a massive mistake making it have all the belles and whistles that no one really needed and just made it bloated and heavy. Now they’re years behind.
Yeah, just like they should have introduced the iPhone in 1976 and not wasted all that time with those bulky and heavy home computers in the 20th century. It was silly of them wasting all that time waiting for the technology to arrive to enable it.

I don’t understand why anyone would think lighter and cheaper is easier than heavier and more expensive.

By the time this air version comes out, the original pro will probably be about three years old, so I would expect the air to be more powerful and overall better product.
It 100% should be which is why I never understood the first product being called “pro” it shoulda just launched as Apple vision the same way all of their new devices have launched as just one level

Apple plans to release a lighter weight and more affordable version of the Vision Pro in 2027, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The upcoming device, which he refers to as the "Vision Air," will supposedly be over 40 percent lighter than the current model. The Vision Pro weighs in at round 1.375 pounds, so a version that's 40 percent lighter should come in at under a pound.

Kuo also says the Vision Air will be over 50 percent cheaper, which could make it much more attractive to prospective buyers. The Vision Pro costs $3,499, which means a half-priced version would be $1,750. That's still more expensive than an iPhone, but it is closer in price to a higher-end Mac and could be priced similarly to the upcoming foldable iPhone.

Prior rumors about the "Vision Air" suggest that it will have an internal structure made from titanium to reduce weight, along with a thinner design and a new battery enclosure.

Kuo thinks Apple could sell one million Vision Air units in 2027, up from 400,000 of the Vision Pro.

We are still a long way from light and fully functioning HUD display glasses that work properly and have a full day battery life that are also affordable.I don’t think this is a priority for most people. Even then people hate wearing glasses. This will be always be a niche product. People are struggling to put food on the table.

This is a failed product and it won't reach any mass adoption by most consumers. It's a beta hardware product meant only for techies with plenty of cash to burn. Such a shame. But seriously, who the frak wants to wear any annoying uncomfortable headset on all the time? Frak that noise.

Even with a price cut, it's still "Pay us the equivalent of several iPhones, and your only use case is Watching 20 minute movies made by us".

When did Apple become a company that's making toys for millionaires?

Absolutely not the case. I use mine single day. It’s hard to put a price on having a movie theater experience anywhere you are. I have literally gone to the movies and said to myself “it doesn’t look as good as my Vision Pro at home”. And that isn’t worth the price of an iPhone? Yeah ok
Not going to the movies ten times is most of the way to the cost of the AVP. 😁

Two iPhone 17 Pros cost more than this rumored AVA.
and your only use case is Watching 20 minute movies made by us".
You can watch full length movies.

Apple has always released some things which were expensive; feel free to google the price of the Mac II FX, the Twentieth Anniversary Mac, or even the Newton 2000.

Because they used heavy premium materials instead of lighter cheaper ones. They used the goggle eye feature that they will inevitably remove including additional functionality to power it. Wasted time in the engineering of all of this. They over complicated and over engineered it. Im not really sure what any of your points have to do with any of this. Do you actually know anything about R n D

There is a rumor that Apple is going to release a new, improved version of Apple Vision the year after next. How do you get from there to "VisionOS remains as Apples main focus, Apples primary passion"?

As an AVP owner and daily user, I see this headline, and think "Yay, news, or at least vague rumors of possible future news about Vision OS devices. Sometimes it seems that Apple has totally forgotten it". You see the same headline and think it's the only thing Apple cares about.
The source of my comments come from personal experience with a full complement of Apple iPhones, iPads, Computers, Apple Vision Pro and other devices.

As an early adopter and frequent user of AVP, it's understandable that Apple and many of its users have a love affair with the "Liquid Glass" experience. In that environment I find it quite interesting.

However again, in my personal experience with Liquid Glass beta versions as implemented in iOS 26 and others, it simply doesn't translate well. Visually disappointing, questionable readability, and a barrier to efficient productivity.

Lagging behind the competition "Apple Intelligence" seems to be a challenge they find quite daunting.

This video was very revealing: WSJ's Joanna Stern sits down with Apple software chief Craig Federighi and marketing head Greg Joswiak at WWDC 2025 in Cupertino.

At the end of the day, there are a vast number of people who accept and endorse absolutely anything Apple without question. That's the power and influence of this hugely successful company.

100% agree on all of this
I just flew back from a place that was having an important international film festival. I know that a lot of great directors are lamenting the fact that people don’t go to the cinema anymore, but unfortunately the theaters are terrible experience. Between people looking at their phones kids, screaming, and the filth it’s really hard to enjoy a movie with people misbehaving. In contrast, putting this device on your head is so immersive that I think it actually will let people enjoy movies again.

my experience with movie theaters is that they're already just ghost towns. there's barely anyone there and they can't afford to upkeep the places so the vinyl seats all start falling apart. would much rather just put on the vision. Plus sadly the sound systems in many theaters are lacking compared to a simple pair of AirPods.

Nah, developers snubbed the Vision Pro because there’s at most only a million out there. In the end, devs, just like everyone, want to make money, and they don’t see themselves able to make money on it. Once more are out there, they’ll be thinking less anti-developer and more “there’s money to be made.” :)

I think still too expensive and limited uses.

If it could just work with PCs normally them I could see it capturing gaming and other (ahem) markets.

With the Apple reputation for usually good quality they might be able to make life difficult for the other VR headset makers.
I don’t think so. Apple hasn’t captured any markets in years. Pretty much every market segment they’re in, they’re focused on the people with money who want to buy what they make at a price that’s profitable for them.

In fact, I think the viewing experience with the Apple virtual cinema is astonishingly good

As a fellow owner, I really don’t understand how anyone could keep this thing strapped to their face for 16 hours a day. I get tired after an hour.
A cheap, light, flexible head strap from Amazon made a massive difference for me. Now most of the weight rest on a soft cushion on the front part of my head. It’s acceptable for me to use, but I would eagerly welcome a lighter device.
