I'm getting the top end model (64gb wifi+3G) so i'm about 99% confident they'll still have a black one when I get in line around 4 and wait for a couple hours. I'm not leaving without one!

What's considered a 'huge' line? There are about 150-ish in front of me and I'd love to be out of the store by 5:30 or so.

If you think about it, 150 people at 10AM means there will be ~1000 by 5PM at that rate. I would consider that huge.

Do the math though. Numbers do not lie. Too many chain stores will be stocking in addition to Apple. BB has publicly stated each store will have no less than 100 units and larger stores 150-200. Add in all the other chains. There is a lot of stock out there.

Um you picked an article from March 1 that I was responding to so lets not play that game. Last I checked March 8 is more recent than March 1. And again online order has zero to do with in-store stock TODAY. But I tell you what lets just let the day play out and we'll see if there is a shortage or not. One of us will be right.

However I did pick the most recent article which was from today. Throw out the March 1st article if you don't want to read it. Give me an article written in the last 24hrs backing your position.
 
Anyone to think there wouldn't be huge lines is naive. We are still 4-7hrs from 5pm and lines just keep getting longer and longer.

This might be true. However, I think it's stupid to wait in line. Maybe for iPhone 1 it was worth it. I waited in 70 minute line for that.

This is not a big deal. Honestly, I say try to get one 1-2 hours after 5pm or on Saturday. If they are out of stock, try back, or have a backup one ordered like me.

We really shouldn't encourage this line waiting thing. It's pretty stupid.

Honestly, we could use the time to all develop a great iPad app!

Time is money. If I spent 5 hours waiting in line, my Ipad would cost me way too much. It's amazing how so many people have nothing at all to do but spend a day waiting in line for a $500 item.
 
there is literally nothing but employees at bestbuy here in brentwood, CA. the target across the street said theyd have it too, im not worried at all.

Not only that but, time is the only commodity you can't get a refund on (see: I wish I had those 2 hours of my life back!). If I were planning to get one I'd swing by around 7PM. There shouldn't be a line then. Whether or not I get to buy anything at that time is different story but at least I'll be able to check one out without the "hurry up, you're holding up the line!" factor.
