I simply don't think this should be a thread. I regret even adding to it's post count, but it is my only way to link my discontent. Looking at the count though, I see MR may be more interested in hits, than quality of it's content.

What a pathetic, flagrant waste of taxpayer money. If he can camp out for 5 days outside of a damn store, why can't he work?

I wonder what Judge Judy would say????????

Brush off the haters, iJustin. What's worse: a guy who camps out for an iPad or the people who are lame enough to take it so seriously that they have to bash the guy? Like half of you slugs sitting in front of your computers posting are doing so much more with your lives. Probably less.

I'm super excited for the iPad 2, but I find staying in lines days b4 the launch of the iPad or any product a little too much.

Seriously. Pull up the web page, click about 5 times, done. Go get coffee and wait for it to arrive at your home or office. I want an iPad 2 also, but why do people bother? The dude pitched a tent? Sheesh.

These people are saying terrible things about you bubba!

Didnt any of your mothers teach you if you dont have anything nice to say dont say it at all!

If I had someone to watch the kids id come camp with you, love you!

he will feel like an idiot when Best Buy and Walmart release it before 5 and someone comes by holding one up past him

Does he have a job? If he does how does he spend all his time waiting for the ipad2, if he doesn't how does he afford the ipad2?

In a previos interview during the iPhone 4 launch, he stated he has a "seizure disorder" and hence does not have a job. One would assume part of his income comes from the government, but I do not think such details have been released.

Hmmm

For all the people posting about how awful, lame, pathetic, stupid this guy is, I have to say, it's even sadder that the highlight of your day is going on a forum only to bash someone you've never met about doing something with his own time which he enjoys (and harms no one). Just sayin'.

lol, highlight of my day?

So he is camping out in front of a store that is currently closed for renovation? Odd. There are several other stores in Dallas to choose from.

I have already answered this. My career is in non-profit organizations. It was last year I wasn't working.

You mean the year you waited for the iPhone 4?

I'll just say, you're welcome.

They set up a temporary store down the block, the old one was looking ragged.

I edited then deleted my statement. I live in HP, so roughly 2 minutes from where you are. Lets grab a beer.

Most of the posts here make me worry about the current userbase of Macrumors. For goodness sake, this is not nursery. Why on Earth would you choose to make fun of someone, regardless of whether it is prohibited in the forum rules or not? It's pointless and downright rude. Yes, opinions should be welcome, but some of the immaturity displayed by some members, particularly on the first few pages, is rather worrying.

I think it's common sense as to why he can't get a job; who on Earth will want to employ somebody with a case of epilepsy? Forgive me if I read that wrong, and also forgive me if I get this wrong, but companies in the US tend to offer healthcare in with their employment packages. Why would you want to employ somebody with an illness/disorder? (EDIT NOTE: Just read the above posts, but I'll leave this paragraph in anyway).

To the person who said that it's "attention-whoring." Who cares? Surely if you dislike the article and can't say something nice then you shouldn't comment or dedicate your attention on and to the thread, respectively.

In the future (that is, Summer, when the iPhone 5 is out, or whenever he chooses to do one of these things again), I think that article threads, pertaining to this specific topic, should be closed or limited to members over a certain posting threshold.

Just my tuppence worth.

Thanks for the offer, but I don't really drink. However, you are welcome to come visit if you like.

I'll probably start waiting in line at noon on Friday. Who knows, you might feel generous and let me cut. :D :p

EDIT: I read that the person 2nd in line is selling her spot. Do you have any idea for how much, Justin?

Again, he seems to be doing this as a vacation since he doesn't seem to get out much and would like to put his camping equipment to good use. Alot of people have vices others can't agree with. I don't see this anymore worse than people who smoke or gamble their savings away. I remember the guy who camped out a month before Phantom Menace came out. And remember what a big POS that was?

Now, if he happens to do this publicity stunt to draw internet traffic to his sites or even get a free iPad 2 from sympathy, then I can truly understand how some people would get pissed from all this attention-whoring culture we now live in.

I won't accuse this kid of anything. Let him be. But I'll try to see it in different perspectives.
