BUT there's still money in the states budget to buy this guy an iPad. This guy who is able to make a website, draw publicity to himself, blog, give news interviews but somehow is unable to work, and therefore the state decides he requires unemployment, which he uses for this. This is not a personal attack, these are all facts and why I hate the system.
I'm gonna work some extra hours this week so I can help pay for this guys entitlements. After all, how else can he afford to buy iGadgets if the rest of us don't work harder and pay more taxes? Also, I'd like to help pay for his health care. /sarcasm

Please tell me this whole thread is going to go down the he shouldn’t be out there camping for an iWhatever because he gets gov assistance route again.

First off its none of your business but he both works and gets help, WTF, are you envious? He has so little that getting an iToy is a HUGE deal to him, he saves up for them. His “vacation” is an ultra inexpensive urban camping trip. How much did you spend on your vacation?

I have talked to Justin and he is a very nice guy, I have family members with mild disabilities and like him they are able to make it work, it a lot harder than it seems but the worst part is jerks like the ones posting.

What is your solution? Are you saying people that have any kind of assistance should never ever take a vacation, eat only bread and water spending their free time sending you shameful apology cards? Thats kinda sick to want to constantly punish someone for something that is not their fault.

Um.... no they still deserve to have a life, it may not be one you would chose for your self but who cares? I get that what he is doing is odd but so are people that risk their lives to climb a mountain or swim with sharks. To each his own.

__ Stay safe Justin, I hope you enjoy your urban camping adventure :)

I prefer the female iJustin:

Much hotter

Yes hot until you start to actually watch one of her videos, then the hotness quickly goes away when you realize how annoying she is. ;)

17 pages in and only a few mentions. Why did you bring it up ? Seems to me the thread was doing a good job not bringing it up until you did. Maybe you want to discuss it deep down and it was troubling you that people weren't bringing it up ?

First off its none of your business

And there we go, the flame proof vest is on and Chewbacca just launched the first salvo. You heard it here Texans and Americans, your tax dollar is none of your business.

This is nothing short of pathetic that this was a post on macrumors.com! I have been checking this site numerous times a week for many years now, although I never registered. I was always the type to just read opinions and tips in forums and never really added to the material. This is the first time I really felt inclined to register with the forum and give my two cents! But let me say this is absolutely pathetic this was a post on the front page! I now do not consider macrumors.com my go to for apple news. As of today I am blocking myself from viewing the website on my parental controls to remind me about this incident. Goodbye everyone, goodbye macrumors.com, and get a life Justin!!!!!

LOL

This is probably Justin killing some time in that tent.

No. I'm basically saying that if you're spending time at the office reading and commenting on posts then you're being disingenuous when complaining about somebody else not being "responsible" and "working."

Look, if you work swings or are on your lunch break while doing this, fine. If you're doing this on company time, then you're no better than the camper.

You would be correct, however no one ever mentioned what job, at what time, with what responsibilities. Furthermore, no mention was ever made of accessing this forum while at work. You're reaching for assumptions, none of which are correct at this point.

The fact is, anyone with a stable job cannot take a full week off simply for "waiting in line," that is, without using said vacation days, if given. Given the apple product and release cycle however, I would venture to say that he's probably running a tad low on vacation days, if he ever had any at all...

Most of the posts here make me worry about the current userbase of Macrumors. For goodness sake, this is not nursery. Why on Earth would you choose to make fun of someone, regardless of whether it is prohibited in the forum rules or not? It's pointless and downright rude. Yes, opinions should be welcome, but some of the immaturity displayed by some members, particularly on the first few pages, is rather worrying.

I think it's common sense as to why he can't get a job; who on Earth will want to employ somebody with a case of epilepsy? Forgive me if I read that wrong, and also forgive me if I get this wrong, but companies in the US tend to offer healthcare in with their employment packages. Why would you want to employ somebody with an illness/disorder? (EDIT NOTE: Just read the above posts, but I'll leave this paragraph in anyway).

To the person who said that it's "attention-whoring." Who cares? Surely if you dislike the article and can't say something nice then you shouldn't comment or dedicate your attention on and to the thread, respectively.

In the future (that is, Summer, when the iPhone 5 is out, or whenever he chooses to do one of these things again), I think that article threads, pertaining to this specific topic, should be closed or limited to members over a certain posting threshold.

Just my tuppence worth.

I think most of it is jealousy. People with their meaningless middle of the road jobs and middle of the road lives are envious of someone who is not bound by normal convention.. I don't get it either.. What is there to make fun of... Clearly it is fueled by jealousy. I could do the same thing if I wanted, yet I make a lot more money than most people here running my own businesses... I choose not to do so, but why ridicule someone else who chooses to do that.

Do some of you think the ridiculous arguments we all participate in here are somehow more cool than what he is doing? They are not...

Apparently you didn't see or read my post earlier. I'm on my spring break week...

Jealous ? I'm being paid in overtime right now for maintenance work on some servers. Yet here I am. ;)

Of course, I'm waiting on a server reboot at the moment, so not much to do other than twiddle my thumbs.

I miss the guy who waited in line for the iPhone back in 2007. The fat schlub was okay to make fun of.

I think iJustine is pretty hot, not all chicks need to have huge boobs to be considered attractive.

Yeah she probably has a nice butt or something (let's hope ...).

Also doesn't justin have aspergers or something that doesn't allow him to hold down a normal job? I thought I remembered something like that from the iPhone 4 launch ... if so seems like a bunch of computer geeks on this forum are wasting their time calling him out.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

I never understand why people camp out to get that. Are you seriously hurry to get that? Then what? This is totally pointless. Do you have really that much time to kill? I have no time to do in my life. I'm so busy to work. Every year I spend 4 months outdo home for working. Get it? Seriously get a life, man.

These aren't exactly selling like hotcakes, I'm sure he can walk in some where and buy one when they release.

I'm sure if you could save a little on taxes you would invest all that in some business to "trickle down" the profit to your new employees. You could hire him! LOL. So tell us about the business you will create when your taxes are eliminated. I bet you'll just buy something with that money instead. But then that would prove raygun's philosophy was a sham!

The irony is that this guy might make a business out of his blogging if he does it right and gets some ads.

Of course since the value of the dollar is propped up by nothing more than a belief that its actually worth something, should everyone get their tax money back, the value of the dollar would simply drop and the buying power of your annual income would be the same anyway.

Yeah you took the words right out of my mouth.

If you guys want some real reporting, check out iJustine's gaming channel ahhaha:

I have no problem or even care that this guy is camping out queuing for the iPad 2.

Only problem is he is constantly leaving the queue, therefore forfeiting his place in the queue.

The whole point is that you have to stay there, not pitch up a tent and then go for a wonder. Otherwise we might as well put up a sign saying I'm in the queue, then go home....

Its not unheard of to wait in line at the ihop for some hotcakes. Especially on a Sunday morning when the christians are getting out of their weekly ritual and looking for some breakfast.

I do spend majority of my time outside inline, but do admit I do step away once in awhile for a meal, showering or when nature calls. I have a friend who lives just 2 blocks away from the store and I charge my iPhone inside while the store is open.

Since I'v been first in line for many Apple product launches over the past 4 years, the employees know who I am and help watch my spot during those times.

I also have security from the Dallas Police during the nights when I'm asleep to keep me safe.

Never understood the concept of camping when you can walk in the store the day sales begin. Except for the attention side of it.

Anyways, I'm eager to see how disappointing the iPad 2's camera and memory are going to be.

Just my opinion but when Apple hides tech specs, they tend to be lame like the Mpixel of the latest iPod Touch.

Pretty sure it's going to be exactly the same as the iPod touch.

Not having a go at you but...

Correct queue etiquette is;
You come along and take your place in the queue and stay there for the duration. You get people to bring you food and drink.

the only time it's acceptable to leave is to go to the toilet and then you get someone to stay in your place.

I know the staff know you but it shows favoritism if they hold your spot for you.

The whole point of coming days early and getting the number one spot is that you did the hard slog to get it.

Why don't you go home and wait for the iPad there? That way the police can actually do their jobs keeping the community safe rather than having to babysit some geek with a publicity fetish. Can you understand this selfishness at all?

Then how else would he become famous? of course I use famous lightly, he's known around 2 D-list blog sites (which show about a 95% disapproval rating) and his own FB page which has about 23 fans, but it's worth it.

The security is not only to keep me safe, but also keep a eye on the store. They do this for every product launch and usually have more than one officer during launch day.

It's a new page I set up to keep everyone who wants to follow me updated during the time I'm here. It's now grown to 74 fans and continues to do so as time passes.

When I was here the last time when I unexpectedly made myself a public figure, I didn't have any pages to begin with and keep my supporters and other fans updated, so the page was launched before I began this weeks stay to serve that purpose. Same goes for the website, Twitter and Ustream pages.
