Now, I'm wondering if the Singapore one is from this year as well or an old one like the Covent Garden one. The other pictures seem to show that there's not that much interest in lining up. Admittedly, a line could be said to 'swell', if it goes from 2 to 5, but from here, it looks like people aren't that interested. Guess one man's glass half full is someone else's half empty.

My guess is people know they are unlikely to get one. Who wants to wait in line all night if the store only has a handful of phones?

Samsung is dying from envy right about now

Either that, or they're shooting a new commercial about iPhone X launch lines

I've literally just walked back from the Apple Store in covent garden (circa 10 mins) and there was no such cue? I don't believe this photo is from today...

LOL... seriously? I don't think that Samsung is dying of envy. They are probably thinking ... finally Apple is joining the AMOLED minimal bezel bandwagon. If there are big queues, which remains to be seen, its because its been a very long time since Apple produced a new design following the 6sss.

I did the lines a few times, but never 24 hours early. I just went in about 6 hours before the store opened. It was kind of fun and exciting, but been there done that... not interested in doing it again.

Or there could be a handful of phones in stock so Apple has to turn most of the crowd away in disappointment; that's good PR isn't it?

Or (tinfoil hat on here) all those in line get exactly what they want meaning "constrained supply" or "X weeks waiting period" was a ploy all along to guarantee lines at the store so news outlets can run stories like these.

Take your pick.

To each his/her own, but is it imperative to have the latest iPhone (or any gadget), on day one?

For some, it is. I personally can wait. I see it just as another piece of tech that I will eventually have at my front door. But there are some who are truly passionate iPhone users that are possessive to have this device immediately once it becomes available.

And then there are also those Who don't care about the iPhone itself and want the new iPhone on day one strictly to sell it for a profit.

Actually, historically the lines have been much longer at this point for other iPhone launches. I have no doubt the iPhone X will sell very well but perhaps enthusiasm for the iPhone is waning a bit.

As the price goes up people look at the purchase more critically. People here on the forums will buy them, but perhaps not on Main Street.

I’ll just wait until my order arrives sometime between 11/17-11/24. My company needs to test it before they let us access our corporate email on it, which hopefully will be done right around the time my phone arrives.
Or about two years later knowing some IT departments.

Wait... why do they have to test it? They’re referring to iOS 11 that may not work. The phone itself isn’t the issue.

Don't let this be you!!! Buy my extra iPhone X and avoid the lines

Samsung Semi is probably very happy as they make money off the OLED displays Apple is using. But it’s a safe bet to think Samsung Mobile is not happy at all. Unless you think companies are happy when competitors are selling record numbers of devices that compete directly against your best devices.

I would love to sit in one of these lines sometime, just for the experience.

Even Steve Wozniak sits in these lines sometimes, and he gets the phone hand delivered by Tim. /s
