Samsung is dying from envy right about now
Either that, or they're shooting a new commercial about iPhone X launch lines
Samsung Semi is probably very happy as they make money off the OLED displays Apple is using. But it’s a safe bet to think Samsung Mobile is not happy at all. Unless you think companies are happy when competitors are selling record numbers of devices that compete directly against your best devices.
Looks like MacRumors got bamboozled by the "Instagram user". Hope they correct the article soon, because this makes them look like they're intentionally hyping the X.
I'll be amazed if it beats the sales records set by the iPhone 6.
Or a full page ad somewhere.
I don't think a competitor "dies with envy" when a predictable product launches. There are no surprises here. New products are announced each year, so why would Samsung be "unhappy". If I were them, I would actually be happy for the following reason:
- recognizing that we are ahead since this "new" product is just catching up with a lot of things we already have.
- the competition wasn't able to update their whole product line... no plus size or competitor to the Note line, and most of the lineup is old designs.
- they are struggling to produce high volume, so potentially an opportunity to sell more through holidays.
- the new "big" feature is FaceID which is proving to be controversial, and can be a product differentiator since we already have it plus iris and touch (remember an average consumer will see facial recognition checked on both products.
- Android and iOS continue to converge in ability/stability
- We are still selling many more than they are
- Oh yeh, they are buying more parts from us now for their phones... so win-win
So no, I don't think Samsung is mad and dying with envy. They are busy readying their next round of products.

Well you here aren’t you?
Why? They make the screens so when Apple makes revenue Samsung makes revenue.

I agree 100%. Everyone says the S9 will copy FaceID. Uh hello? They’ve been doing facial recognition. All they have to say is “we’ve made our facial recognition with Iris Scanning even better with 3D capabilities, and you still have a choice between facial or fingerprint.”
Depends how you look at it. Samsung make oil-rigs and bulldozers that they consider best in class. How are Apple stacking up against those devices?Samsung Semi is probably very happy as they make money off the OLED displays Apple is using. Incredibly stupid if you ask me! Why anybody would wait days in a line to buy anything is beyond me.iPhone X sales are going to break all records. This is incredible.
It is amazing. Despite all of the hate and negativity towards Apple, what other company has people camping out to buy their products? Only thing that comes to mind are sports venue tickets for certain events.
What other corporation has multiple "Rumors" sites with people hanging on every shred of information?
Walk by a Microsoft store someday. I actually feel sorry for the lonely people working there and often spend a few minutes talking to them.
As someone who used a 1985 vintage Macintosh, watched Apple sink into the depths of irrelevancy, product launches like this are astonishing.

Now, I'm wondering if the Singapore one is from this year as well or an old one like the Covent Garden one. The other pictures seem to show that there's not that much interest in lining up. Admittedly, a line could be said to 'swell', if it goes from 2 to 5, but from here, it looks like people aren't that interested. Guess one man's glass half full is someone else's half empty.
Do you really think "Samsung Mobile" is an autonomous, not linked to, nothing to do with the great big bad Samsung? Perhaps you do and that's how you justify Samsung parts in iPhones because that's "Samsung Electronics" not heaven forbid the "Samsung group". I love the way fan-boys can compartmentalize the competition in their minds so not to affect their "believes".I didn’t know Samsung Mobile made oil-rigs and bulldozers.
