cool off guys... I believe at this mature market, I've yet to see any special design link band from any watch marketer also imho.

Let not compare others but just as per the topic Apple link vs Milanese

I was underwhelmed by the milanese loop too when I saw it in person (aesthetically), being that it was a lot less shiny than I had imagined and much more of a duller mesh.

However, after trying it on, I was really impressed by how well it fit and felt on the wrist. Out of all the bands available, it should be the best fitting given that it is infinitely adjustable as opposed to every other band which relies on incremental holes/links.

Between the two, I would say it is a no-brainer when cost is factored in: the milanese wins. Not considering cost, it just comes down to personal preference, mine being milanese.

However, I would take a nice brown leather strap (not OEM) over any of the above options.

I preordered the loop as it was the band that jumped out at me when they did the keynote. Just knew I had to have it.

Then I went for my try on appointment. I still loved the loop, but fell in love with the link bracelet. They took a few links out for me and the fit was perfect. I love the clasp. And as someone said above, the watch looked more complete... more of a finished product with the link bracelet over the loop.

Yes, clearly out of touch....

You'd have to blame Marc Newson as the link bracelet, Milanese loop, sport band and leather loop were lifted directly from his design.

I tried both on at the Apple store

The Link bracelet looks good until you put it on and realize it is not as heavy as a Rolex or Omega watch band. I can understand this if it was marketed as a light, strong, titanium band but for a steel watch band not to have a good weight behind it left a "cheap" impression on me.

The Milanese Loop is thinner than I was expecting to the point that it's almost transparent. It feels like fabric like others have pointed out and the magnet is pleasantly much stronger than I anticipated as well.

FWIW if both were the same exact price I would have gone with the Milanese Loop anyway.

You would think they would want him to maybe come up with fresh ideas... Some are still unique with magnets/clasps/etc but they basically just copied old ones apparently

Well considering they're new to 99.99% of the population who has never heard of him or his designs, I don't think that really matters.

If price is not a factor, which one would you prefer and why?

The problem is that money "is" a factor. If money wasn't a factor I would just get both. But when one is $150 and the other is almost as much as the watch itself that makes a huge difference. If they were both the same price I would get both. But at $450 you really better love what you're getting. I value money way too much to throw it around needlessly even though I can "afford" to. In other words as fun as it is to take money out of the equation, it's just not possible.

They both look great, and both are winners, but the Milanese is more unique in looks. So I chose the Milanese. My absolute favorite though, is the black link bracelet.

Cost was not an issue for me.

I like the look of the link more than the Milanese loop, but the link just does not fit me well. I have tiny wrists, and by the time I take the links out there won't be any left and it's just not comfortable. The Milanese loop was my 2nd favorite, and it fits me well and is comfortable....so it wins for me.

Would Milanese band demagnetize credit cards?

How long would the magnet stay strong so the watch does not fly off my wrist while exercising?

That magnet is very strong. Unless your form of exercise is violent arm flailing, I think you're good to go.

I really liked the Milanese Loop when I tried it, but the one with the 42mm watch is too long for me - the magnet end goes all the way around to the other side of the watch and just looks "wrong".

Milanese Loop on the 38mm fitted perfectly, but I found the watch itself looked to small for me.

Gone with the Link.

One advantage of the loop is the easy adjustment to an almost infinite number of settings. I have a couple bracelet style watches, and I end up keeping them pretty loose to compensate for wrist size changes if the weather heats up or if I am excercising. With the loop you can adjust so easy!

Could you please tell us your wrist size? That is an interesting observation that I haven't thought about. Thanks!

I'm definitely going to get than Milanese Loop separately if I don't end up exchanging my Sport Aluminum for a Stainless Steel.

Yeah speaking of the hair ( just look at my pic I posted on how hairy my arms are)...never once did my hairs got tugged while trying on the Milanese Loop. Love it

I thought my hair would catch too. It felt more like a cloth material rather than metal. Looks great, very contemporary!
After I placed my initial pre order I placed another pre order for the Milanese Loop as an accessory. (Ship date of "May")
Definitely excited!

I think when my hairs got caught (when I tried it on), I think it was between the bands, not in the metal itself. I think I was just rushing when putting it on. So, I think if it pulls, all you have to do is make sure you hair isn't between the layers of the band.

I really want the link band, but at that price... I like it WAY better, but not at that price.

~155mm circumference, ~50mm width.

The Milanese Loop for the 42mm case has a range that starts at 150mm.

I loved the feel of it, but it just looked "wrong" and untidy having the magnet end so visible on the other side of the case.

It it had been just a bit shorter...

Mhhh i have nearly the same measurements.
150mm circumference and 50mm width.
I am still undecided between the 38 and 42mm with Milanese Loop.
I noticed that Problem too. On my tryon the Magnet endet arround 4mm before it would touch the Watch.
But after waring it arround 5 Minutes I noticed that I strapped it too tight and endet with arround 7-10mm before the it would touch the watch.
