How could someone possibly vote negative for this? This is great news. Apple will be introducing/announcing something...how could that possibly be negative? Are people voting negative for the sake of voting negative? Or are people who "hate" Apple on this board and voting negative? I don't get it.

Haters

This is why people can't read the forums, cuz a bunch a so called "experts" on everything know what is best for everyone. Linkin Park sucks, the MacBook Air sucks, the 2g Shuffle sucks, and on and on.

Give it a rest already, who cares who performs. It not something anybody is forced to watch. Just be happy Apple is working with a major band, instead of throwing Randy Newman out there. They don't have to have any artist and people would still be interested. But even with that said, I don't listen to Randy Newman, but I could care less that he performed. Good for him.

Get excited when its a band or artist you like, get over it if it isn't. Enough said.

The timing and location just doesn't sound right. MiraMobile, which was the basis to the original rumor, is based in Oregon, and while Apple uses them in San Fran, why would Apple truck them, literally, all the way out to NYC when there's no doubt mobile production companies in NYC they can use. I know that when Apple still had MacWorld in NYC, they used a company called Masque Sound based in New York, so why wouldn't they do the same for video?

History of music is equally subjective in choosing what is included, what isn't, what is deemed important, and how each period and artist is characterized. Wind is music. So is silence.

Not really. Wind is certainly not music, it has no sense of human expression or emotion. Would you really put Linkin Park in the same ballpark as Mozart or Bach? It has nothing to do with a timeline, there are plenty of bands in the past fifty years that I personally would, but of course that's my personal taste as well.

But I think we can all come to that conclusion about Linkin Park. And that is why they are terrible.

Linkin Park wouldn't suck nearly so bad if that lead singer wouldn't scream like a little kid in every chorus of their songs. Otherwise they are pretty good.

ugg. i know i shouldn't bite, but genre specific personal taste aside, if you honestly compare the two artists in question, randy newman has linkin park beat in lyrical depth, social message/impact, musical composition, and instrument proficiency.
not saying everyone (or anyone) has to like the sound of his voice or agree with his views, but the man is an extremely skillful and talented writer and musician.

Word-up!

Who cares about LP ?

Haven't we lost sight of the real reason this event is occurring?
I dislike Right Said Fred but Im not gonna make a big deal about it on a forum for :apple:

"I'm too sexy for my iMac"

Well, there will certainly be plenty of screaming...Linkin Park has that down pat!

In all seriousness, who cares? I mean Linkin Park does suck, but so does John Mayer and just about every musician Apple trots out there for these events. Just show me the damn products already.

I don't normally do this but in this case I am going to have to say "You sir Suck" Besides you get to see the product before the artist ever goes on. If you don't like it don't watch.

Appreciation of music is subjective, but history of music is a science.

And your point is?

Some of the greatest musicians (e.g. SLASH) still have to admit, they can't read notes, therefore won't follow scientific rules.

Music may have some scientific phenomena to be discovered (like harmony), yet still the best music is improvised.

And Nu Metal is part of the music history, though dead now. Just like Grunge was in the 90s. Or Hard Rock in the 80s.

My point is: I liked Hybrid Theory, I adored ReAnimation (as it was much more industrialesque, which I liked) and since then...well Linkin Park innovated contrary to my style of music. So be it. My taste, their decision.

And back on topic: Maybe they should've chosen Nine Inch Nails, as Trent seems to be a very dedicated Apple user - those Garage Band tracks for remixing were a real cool marketing ploy!

Finally (just like posted some hours ago by me and another user): It will be a bloody session they record for iTunes. He is talking about a show in conjunction with Apple. Ever heard a show consisting of one or two songs?

I agree with this. The Apple/Park thing in NYC has nothing to do with any product announcements.

It's more than likely one of those special iTunes concerts.

I always thought that Linkin Park was a silly name. But the guys in the band probably laugh about it too—while basking in their platinum hot tubs filled with Evian, being fed faberge egg omelets by their nubile fans.

You have bad taste in music

Linkin Park is a roller-coaster, Linkin Park is a roller-coaster, Linkin Park is a roller-coaster...
Because like a roller coaster, Linkin Park may seem dangerous or appear rebellious while in fact it’s perfectly safe for family fun, the danger is an illusion, and they’ve been duped by marketing hype.

Dont you mean a Cadburys Cream Egg?
I think you'd break you're teeth on a Faberge Egg...

nothing new around here, is there?

You are voting negative because of the associated BAND???

You should be voting POSITIVE because we have another confirmation of an Apple event in the next week!

same old crap from you folks.

I see no reason to put either in a ballpark. Mozart was a genius who created music that I find wonderful. Great. But I also get chills every time I hear the You Never Give Me Your Money reprise or listen to Jagged Little Pill. Comparing them is strictly subjective.
