i don't really picture linkin park playing at an apple event, but i'm looking forward to it either way
While I'm a huge fan of TMV and not so much of Linkin Park, I think TMV would be an even worse choice than LP for an Apple event. Their live shows certainly are "different" and I doubt many people would be too big of a fan of 10-15min long solos they usually have during their liveset.
I seriously think that the point to the whole rumor being posted on MR is being missed. It's not that Linkin Park is playing, or whether or not they are good. This is lending (some) credibility to the rumor that Apple's hosting an end-of-February event. That's all it was meant to do. Let's not drag personal taste into this and make it a 200 page flame war.
If I remember correctly, Steve Jobs recently played a Linkin Park music video at Macworld for the AppleTV demo I think. Not sure.
At least the artist in question is not 50 cent. That thread was an ordeal.

i don't mind linkin park. It seems as if apple is trying to get more "hip" bands. instead of these old farts to attract more the youth...

Nah, a techno show (although it would be cool) wouldn't work well either.
All I care about is whether they release the MBP finally...
I gotta say that I do personally like Linkin Park, some of their music is amazing, but I will agree they're musical talent isn't exactly up their with the greats. I just find them fun to listen to when I'm in the mood, you know?
And secondly, Linkin Park has been in with Apple for a long time now. Their DJ, Mr Hahn has used Macbook Pros exclusively for triggering samples, loops, Vinyl controllers etc etc. ever since I can remember, and every song they've ever recorded has been on a Mac, when either in the studio or at each member's "home studio" (Mike has pointed this out on numerous occasions)
And yes, I realise I know WAAAY too much about Linkin Park, haha. I just digg their sound & am a studio engineer so I have to research into these things

which is ironic considering the main points raised on this thread are whether people like the band (!!!!!!!?????) and not what event could it be and why would they have that style of band for it.
I always read these threads hoping they stay on topic but they never do.
main questions it may raise I think are - what date could it be if they're performing at it?
and
what products would they have any possible relevance to that could be announced?
