I wonder what apple means by, "The next generation of MacBooks" in the MacBook air website.

I really hope apple doesn't kill the MacBook, as is the best for intro level student like me :(

Steve Jobs was pretty clear what he meant when he said it last Oct:

"We really see these as the next generation of MacBooks," Steve Jobs, the company's chief executive, said at the event. "We think all notebooks will be like these someday."

So, yes, the MB will go away. Whether it's tomorrow or next year I can't say, but the clock is ticking.

Up to Date or Don't Wait?

Really looking forward to this OS update. I am excited to flex my new internet connection at 50Mbps.

I am just having a hard time deciding if I should wait for my up to date or buy because it's just $30. Must practice self discipline.

No, I anticipate that Lion will sell and perform well. I have heard from most people that it's pretty stable and ready to go.

How sure are we that Lion will be released tomorrow? There is still no mention on the Apple website and I would think that they would want to make a big fuss about this new OS.

Yes... to avoid the download rush, or the servers will go down! :)

It's 20th 1pm, in the past Apple have launched it on the date they have said regardless of world times. Australia has always been one of the first to see OS X releases. Why the difference this time.

Well it's about time. I wonder how lion will affect performance compared to snow leopard. Also I'm looking forward to seeing allnof the exact changes and improvements, both big and small... As well as associated upgrades... Like MacBook airs and iWork, and soon, hopefully, some ofnthe other hardware... :)

Cool, thanks. I wonder if Lion fixes this in Bootcamp and allows for USB installation? Actually, I haven't heard anything on that, but I always wonder why this isn't possible on SL.

+1

It's really a pain with my optibay drive and no CD drive.
