It makes sense to release it at 8:30 on a wednesday instead of at midnight. While many of the so called fanatics will download lion the second it appears on the app store, most of us will have to go to work tomorrow morning. An early morning release would ease the tension on Apple's servers. I'm actually surprised they announced the release date. They must either be extremely confident in that new data center or intentionally want the servers to fail to create a media buzz.

It actually makes sense to let the enthusiasts download it at an obscene hour late at night while normal people sleep. It spreads the load. If you launch it during the everyday EVERYONE will be trying to grab it at the sometime.

It has already been confirmed on Twitter Lion launches at 12:00AM EST. But it's not as simple as pressing a button it takes time to rebuild App Store pages. Everything is cached for performance reasons.

Apple does not have a Twitter account and nothing they have said officially has indicated a time. In short, nothing has been confirmed.

::confused::

seen it confirmed for 12:00AM and 8:30AM (both EST) on Twitter.

Interesting.

Maybe it's coincidence (or just my connection) but the App Store is now failing to load banners and about 1/3 of the app icons are missing...

I just really want to download it before I go on my 10 hour road trip tomorrow.

Just playing with the new OS would keep me company for about half of it :rolleyes:

Just let me at 'em... that phat Lion :) Interweb-speed at my house in small town in the danish mainlands. A fiber connection, also running my TV and our landline phone. 30/30 Mbit in the danish countryside - Nice!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Where is it?!?!

For the 8.9% of americans who are unemployed it makes sense

Most of us however will be at work or on the way to work. As excited as I am for a new OS I refuse to skip work to download it.

Apple isn't on there officially. But connected people are. I trust them, they've made the call and I'm waiting to get me some Lion in the next few minutes. I encourage all the doubters to go to bed so I can download faster when it does. I know I'm going nowhere until I have downloaded.

Lots of people have remote desktop software (lol), can take their MBPs with them, or school, vacation, etc.
