Lion may be the ideal kitty kat for those newbies out there. They won't know any better. The "gee whiz" eye candy will thrill them.

Conversely, we have the exemplary performance, power and productivity enhancing SL 10.6.5.

Happily, it has no apps store, no time wasting 99 cent impulse buy fart apps, no sex position apps, no pandering to your Visa Card. Just 100% Real Mac Computer Operating System.

Speed, functionality, stability, and refinement. This in combination with my 2010 15" fully loaded core i7, 8GB, SSD equipped MBP, already Roars with great authority.

It's distinct lack of whimsical iToys aura, is ever so satisfying. A stellar example of Apple's ability to deliver a professionals machine of choice.
So you like the latest and greatest hardware, but not so much software?

As a person who's just switching to Mac OS now, I'm looking forward to Lion namely for the 'refinement' part. I like the (idea of) improved UI, gestures, Versions.

I still use Windows XP on my PCs cuz I'm not a fan of 7 (similar reasons to yours), but with Apple's stuff I want the latest software.

For those that care. Lion is by far the best OS for hackintosh so far. Really easy to install and works on most modern non-amd machines.

Oh and for those bitching about this being dumbed down. I find myself being a lot more productive on Lion than SL, then there is the rather major upgrades to core components, most notably xserver which improves things a lot.

1:03 AM CST and no signs of the freaking lion, I feel that I might as well wait until I go to class and download it then. :plain:

As did I. (past tense)

Now that Stevie Boy has "invented" the Post PC Era to include "upgrading" into a hybrid iToys OS... No Thanks.

promo stuff

Just saw the Apple Store employees putting up Lion promo signs at the Apple Store! Didn't see any new hardware yet. Hopefully they are waiting until later.

Very surprisingly, this time I don't feel any excitement for this release. And especially no urge to upgrade.

I just can't find any good reason to do so. ICloud may be the only thing that tempts me...

I love Adove, especially Photoshop CS5, and Acrobat x pro, Acrobat Pro x is my most favorite App of all.

Omg you must never use it on Windows then. IT guys will give you a mile long list of why they hate Adobe, especially Acrobat.

(But maybe your just kidding I'm not sure :p )

So how are we going to do a "clean" install when we are downloading the software from the Mac App store?

I'm looking forward to Apple's XI series of operating systems.

I hear that the 11.1 release will be called Mac OS XI Spoon Worm.

Actually, 11 will be named after reptiles. I'm looking forward to 11.2 'Trouser Snake'

And how does improving a multitude of core features, combining server for an extra $50, introducing a slew of productivity features make it an "iToys OS?"

Geeze people just can't ever be happy with anything.
