I felt it coming...

I bought a new external HDD today to copy all my stuff on too.

Now I can delete everything on my MBP, and reinstall SL.

iTunes account is already charged with enough bucks...

No appointments tomorrow

I am ready!

What exactly is the problem with iWork 09 in Lion? The Apple web site specifically states that it supports the native full-screen feature.

It does support full screen in its current version but not like all the other Lion full screen Apps. iWork will be updated so that it operates like the other full screen apps with the 'full screen' button being moved to the upper right of the window.

There will probably be other Lion interface changes applied, like they did with the recent update to iPhoto.

The Macbook Air will be quicker in everyday tasks due to the SSD drive inside. The Mac Mini will be faster in rendering and processor intensive tasks, so it depends on what you need it for. Storage space will be better in the Mac Mini, RAM likely will be equal, as will the graphics.

The Macbook Air is extremely portable, and I highly recommend one.

I'm looking to purchase my first Mac for developing apps and making music. I think both machines can handle my needs well, it's really a debate between cost vs portability. Is portability worth the extra few hundred bucks?

Still contemplating...

If your iMac is brand new why bother doing a clean install.. just upgrade... Just make sure you install the lion migration tool before hand!

Might want to read about that update once more. It says it is used to transfer your data from a SL machine to a new Mac running Lion. It doesn't apply to single machine upgraded from SL to Lion.

yes it is....

On another note i am curious to see if apple servers will do well tm....

Thanks Apple for the great quarter....

How is Mac OS on launch day in general? Is it safe to grab it right away? This is the first time I'm going to be experiencing a new OS launch as a Mac user so I really have no idea.. though I am skeptical given the failure that was FCPX.

I'm hearing lots of people with GM saying that it's still fairly buggy and I've got a ton of work to do so I don't want to compromise that.. any suggestions?

Arg I was too lazy to go and get an USB key to use as Install CD for Lion...

Still, I'm also hoping for iWork (Numbers update neeeeeeeeeeeded).

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_4 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8K2 Safari/6533.18.5)

It's 7/20 in Paris right now.

It isn't a bug. Apple purposely doesn't support TRIM on 3rd party ssd's. You can run a simple file and enable it though.

It's a bug. A standard computer part thats been adopted for TRIM support 2 years in Windows 7, an inferior OS by apple evangelical standards, as well as the fact that Apple has been selling Macbook Airs and other computers for several years with an SSD drive, but no full TRIM support.

Thats definitely a bug. Regardless of Apple's intention.

please lord let them release the new airs tomorrow too..... i can't wait:apple:

Can't say for certain, as I haven't performed any tcpdumps while downloading from their app store, but I thought many updates were provided for by caching services. If that's the case (and I see no reason why it wouldn't be), then Apple's servers have nothing to worry about and neither do the consumers.

I'd liken that more to an Apple "feature". A bug means something is happening that is unexpected. This is expected behavior per Apple.

It's usually fine.

The GM is fine for general day to day use.

There are no showstoppers. I've been using it the way the average user would since the GM was released. It's good to go.

I don't get why everyone is so convinced this is going to be a disaster and slow down the entire internet. I for one doubt the average Mac user is champing at the bit to upgrade Lion on release day, considering the recent article about iPhone 4 owners thinking they have 4G. Most of them probably don't even know Lion is being released, or that it's an App Store-only purchase.[/QUOTE/]

Good point.

As someone new to computers (bought my first computer 5/10), had I not stumbled on MR 6 months ago (and become a daily reader), I never would have known as much about Lion.

It is true, however, that when you open Safari, Lion will be plastered all over the Apple home page. So even the "average user" will become aware of the Lion launch if they open Safari tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to some fun with Lion. :D

I have the GM and it runs ok for me, but I guess it depends what apps and how you set up and config your mac.
