Arghh. My install is going painfully slow.

Seeing the same here. Installer reckoned it would take 33 minutes but after half an hour it still thinks it has 24 minutes left.

Also noticed that it has "Examining available disks..." and a spinner running in the bottom right hand corner even though it's also telling me above the blue progress bar that it's 'Installing Mac OS X on the disk "Macintosh HD"'.

I'm wondering if it might have been confused by having a bootable firewire drive attached when I started the install.

just don't understand why mine and others aren't working. did you buy your online? also, for the date did you use the date you bought it or the shipping date?

I bought at a currys store on the 6th July. I registered the machine then but checking my account it wasn't there, neither were my 2 Ipad so re-registered them all. Then clicked the link, it came up with a box to to put machine serial number. I was given a redeem code to place in the Lion order but still had to put credit card No in before it would allow me to download even though the receipt was zero payment.

Yay !!

Download, burning to disc, and installing.

OS X Lion: -
--------------

Check for Software Updates before continuing.

1. Find downloaded pkg file in /Applications/
2. Right click pkg file 'Show Package Contents' \Contents \SharedSupport'
3. Use favourite burning software or Disc Utility (Drag and Drop image to window) to burn InstallESD.dmg image,
4. Upgrade, or clean install from disc

For those who wanna make USB bootable drive, make sure you format usb stick under Disk Utility as Mac OS X Extended, and drag .dmg image into empty drive.

Reboot make with USB in place and, if all goes well, you'll be up and running Lion soon.

oops :D Got 900MB over my cap, now downloading the rest from my iphone :)

registered the machine? i may be being stupid here. Where can i check my account? my itunes account says 4 computers authorised, do you mean that?

I hope I don't get kicked of my internet server, the size of the download file is bigger then my limit for the month which is 2gb.

Lion runs great on my 2.66Ghz Core 2 Duo April 2008 iMac with 4GB Ram. I think Lion runs quicker than Snow Leopard.

The only think that's going take time getting used to is scrolling as it is opposite. Up is Down and Down is Up WT... did they do there?

Its 1.21 am here in OZ so I'll be playing around with it more later this morning, I'm going to bed now. need some zzzzzzzz.

Oh i did have a Java update for 10.7.

Lol just go into settings and change the scrolling back to the old way

Finished.

Installed and working fine.

The three finger gestures are a bit tricky to get used to.

By the way, don't worry to much about the "Download additional components" Its doesn't download anything, as there is no network traffic.
