Has anyone looked at the Macbook Air pics on the banner? It appears that they might be the new version. Look at the screens... they appear (at least to me) to be wider than the keyboard nearest the hinge. This could imply that the screen size has increased on the new laptops.

Looking at Apples website, the pictures of the Air show the current gen screens are the same width as the keyboard.

Here's the exact picture you are questioning on the banner- it's already on Apple's Lion website of the current 13" Air. No difference in screen size.

Not likely. The focus today is on the earnings release at 1:30PM Pacific time and the analyst call from 2:00-3:00PM. Perhaps after that, they will announce the availability of Lion.

I'm not setting my heart on anything until i see the official announcement from apple.com

Some people like to start fresh when a new OS comes out. It is not necessary but some still prefer to do it (myself included). As long as you're up to date on your current installation of Snow Leopard then you too are all ready to upgrade.

Thanks BillyBobBongo...all up to date. I am bit particular about keeping everything up to date so no problemo on that front. While a clean install sounds great (an I am sure I did a clean install when going from leopard to snow leopard) I am not so keen on reinstalling all my apps etc. Just had a sudden thought there was something I had missed. All set and ready to go!

It's € 23,99

really? guess you're right ... it's even cheaper than I though it would be.

isn't it 29 USD in the states?

I just can't believe an Apple product is less € than USD for once ... I'm just upset that it's 99 USD vs. 129€ for an Apple TV.

i dont understand why Apple is promiting multi-touch gesturing as a new concept with Lion.
Its been around for a couple of years now, and I love it, and use it everyday.

Does a clean install really makes a (noticeable) difference in performance?? I haven't done a re install since 2008 and it still feels as speedy as it came out of the box :p

I just got an iMac 2 weeks ago and I've installed some Apps and stuff...but I'm all up to date.

I don't need to "clean" install anything do I?
I just hit the Lion DL button in the AppStore and I'm all set...right?

(Btw, I have Office 11...that's working good with Lion right?)

Software is always cheaper, $1 apps vs 0'79 €

Aye, Apple really need to adjust their hardware pricing.

Every time I read back to the states, I pick up new equipment because of the price difference.

Now we have a Blackbook with US keyboard, MBA 11" with US Keyboard, unbody macbook with Swedish keyboard, iMac 20" with Swedish keyboard and a white MacBook with a German keyboard (other iPods/shuffles/apple TV with different languages in the manuals and stuff)

movement of all the little extra symbols really pisses me off. Now, I only use the Swedish computers and she uses the US machines (even though she's German).

lol ... we are so messed up.

Excellent. I'm long overdue for a new laptop (assuming MBA refresh will coincide w/ Lion release).

What's the best approach to getting new Apple hardware on the day of release? Go in early? Mid-morning? Or in the afternoon after the crowds die down a bit? Are there usually people waiting for the store to open? Anyone experience this?

Easy folks.

Take a deep breath.

Yes, it's fun to have a new OS, but we're not curing cancer here.

Enjoy Lion. I'm looking forward to it, too.

But maybe we need to dial down the intensity. I doubt if it will change your lives THAT much.

Don't mean to be a buzz kill - just saying...

I actually don't think a minor refresh like a Macbook Air would get so much attention and sell out. That happens more with iPads, etc.

i love dutch such a mixed language i can nearly read it all with my german skills ^^

i predict its coming either tmrw or on thursday, does that make me an analyst now?
