What's your situation in relation to a MacBook Pro?

Waiting for the MBP. The Air just didn't have the guts for me. It'll be my first mac.

Same here. Ive been needing a new computer and have been leaning heavily towards a macbook pro. I was gonna go for the new laptop when it came out, but its too much for not enough of what I need. Im in the graphic design business and need something that can run all of the programs needed.

Course, now that I know that replacing the RAM doesnt void Applecare, I may just go for a macbook and put 4 gigs of RAM in it.

decisions, decisions...

MacBook Pro Update!

Hi All,

Mac user sense 1986 (Mac SE30) but first time user of this forum. Currently I have a MacPro 2007, iMac 2007 and just sold my MacBook Pro on eBay. I usually flip my laptop every 14 months. I will get the new MacBook Pro as soon as it comes out.

Based on the last 4 years track record. Apple likes to launch a HIGH Profile product / updated once a month and minor updates weekly on Tuesdays. I personally think that the new Macbook Pro will come out week 2 or week 3 of Feb.

If the MacBook Pro gets a processor update, hard drive and a multi-touch track pad update then I can see a Tuesday launch. (Minor Update)

However if the MacBook Pro goes through a major design change then I would think that Apple would want a “Launch event” in form of “Save the Date”. (Major Update)

I consider the MacBook Pro a high profile product for Apple. I am expecting a (Major Update) for the MacBook Pro to follow the MacBook Air’s design and possible color change.

I think they would want to create as much media hype as possible. Therefore I would say that a launch event is most likely week 3 or week 4 Thursday or Friday 6PM.

The guys from TMO's Mac Geek Gab called on Apple to release a 12" MBP, so hopefully that does the trick ;). They have a good track record of getting what they ask for. Otherwise... I'll be buying the next version of the 15". I'll be putting my MB up on ebay soon, so heres hoping

MacBook.

either waiting to untill Febuary 8th OR the end of the month (all depends on my wages). THEN im buying my MacBook. :DDDDD .

I hate you because you're probably somewhat right.

The waiting is the hardest part! (ode to Tom Petty)

You make me sad with your reasonable logic.

Add me to the list. I was about to pull the trigger on a MB a couple weeks ago but saw the new trackpad and read some of the features that are possible on the MBP and decided its better off to wait right now.

Come on apple!

It appears that others are reading up on our pain: this thread's nearing 15 000 hits!
I wonder if anyone can downright ask about the MBP in the webcast tonight?
;)

either waiting to untill Febuary 8th OR the end of the month (all depends on my wages). THEN im buying my MacBook. :DDDDD .

me too...or im throwing in the switch to mac towel and buying a dell or other pc laptop...or moving to linux :|:|

Add me to the waiting list. Last month I conviced my fiance that we needed to spend £1300 on a new laptop and have had the money burning a hole in my pocket ever since! I was sure there was going to be an update at MWSF. Think I will have to go for the Alienware m15x if the wait continues past end of Feb :p

is it possible that the folks at Apple are holding up the release of the next MBP till they seed 10.5.2 ?

just thinking.

i have been holding out for this for longer than i can rem... I am just itching to get a new one !!!!!!

Somebody ought to email this thread to Steve ;)

Does anyone know his email? I know someone has to because I have heard that he gets personal emails from alot of apple customers. Soooo I would like to email him.....anyone know how?

sjobs at apple.com ? That's the one I see quoted in places..

I'm wondering about this bit.

http://www.appleinsider.com/article...om_apples_q108_quarterly_conference_call.html

Says near the bottom:

The MacBook Air is seeing "very strong" pre-orders, but it's too early to tell whether the system will cannibalize existing MacBook or MacBook Pro sales.

Not sure if these are AppleInsider's words, but from this it seems like an updated MBP would probably help keep the MB Air and the MBP customers more separated? Thus perhaps they're not really waiting for the MBAir to "blossom" or whatever, before updating their pro line? I dunno. It seems like they should actually release a newer MBP as soon as the MBAir hits the stores, to make sure the MBP sales don't decrease since it's starting to seem outdated next to the Air.. at least for the regular customers.

I'd say the lack of an updated MBP is cannibalizing MBP sales more than the MBAir, according to this thread :p (Yes, I know MacRumors doesn't represent the general Mac user population)

His e-mail address is: steve dot jobs at apple dot com or sjobs at apple dot com

Add me to the list too, I want a MacBook Pro with Penryn!

Thanks

waiting!!!!!!!!!!!

I need a 17" Macbook Pro!!!! But i don´t wanna buy the current model, i think is too old. I wanna see new keyboard and trackpad, more hd options and video cards. (And Penryn of course) i´m fed up with the way of Apple in the last years, i think thy are going in the way of Microsoft, just caring about get money and forget about users. A lot of gadgets, but what´s happen with hardware and OSX? Leopard is full of bugs, (more than 100 fixes in 10.5.2), and mac pro / macbook pro have the same desing of PPC models, just speed bumps and mor BTO options. Leopard was delayed and they told us, sorry, but we have to finish iphone, now it´s the same stuff with the useless macbook air and the true update of the macbook pro. So Apple, give us our brand new macbook pro now!!!!!
