i'm waiting.... as usual

Every day I check MR for updates...

As soon as it's out i'll be on the first flight to the States to get a nice "discounted" one ;)

My PBG4 Titanium is on his way to retirement.

Mbp ...

I'm still using the first gen 1 GHz 17" aluminum powerbook (with a later upgraded HD) bought online at the SOHO store on the day they were announced at MWSF 2003 and delivered either in February or early March ... so long ago that I forgot! It's a workhorse and still plods through all my PSD, NEF/RAW, and other cumbersome files - but I have gotten very tired of the spinning ball. There are only so many times a year that one can run Disk Utility and Disk Warrior.

This is pathetic to write, but I'm waiting for the new MBP like it's the second coming. Sad but true. :apple:

Be careful, or you may find yourself having to live in some dingy hotel in the lower Bronx for a few weeks. Just because they're "out", doesn't mean they're in the stores that day :D

Here's my predicament

I'm in the market for a new MBP...however I don't NEED the computer until early August when I go back to school. I was considering buying one whenever this next coming upgrade comes (which I guess most people feel will be soon). However, what are the chances that, should the MBP see an upgrade let's say sometime in February, that it will be upgraded again before early August (perhaps with Montevina)? And should I just wait until late July/early August to order?

I was one of the lucky punks who bought a MBP in March only to discover that a new one was released in June. I got a killer deal on the thing so I didn't fret! :)

You can add me to the list, too. I'm waiting for a revision before buying a replacement for my aging 1.25GHz Powerbook G4 (FW800). (That's my *newest* machine. My Wintendo is even older. So, I want something that can play the newest games reasonably well.)

MBP List

I'm ready to buy the 17" MBP the second it's refreshed! Been waiting since September when it was first speculated the MBP line would be updated with Penryn in Q1 2008. An LED on the 17" would be great too, but I'm not holding my breath on that since 17" LED laptops appear to still be a rarity.

Yeh, I had thought of that. I'm thinking of flying to Boston. 34 miles north is the Rockingham Mall in New Hampshire , where there is an Apple Store + there's a Holiday Inn not too far away. New Hampshire = 0% sales Tax :D)

u can put on this list too... a MBP 15''...i need one now for school and can't wait to get one!! it's gonna be my first mac but i've been in love with them for more then a year!!

One more

Can you add me to the list? If they don't come out soon, say... next couple of weeks, I will murder the dell I have right now. Can't wait to be Microsoft free. Almost there. Last windows computer in our house is ready to go bye bye.

Thanks!

Add me to the list, I have been waiting since last fall when I decided to make the PC -> Mac Switch. Add to that the number of apple giftcards I got for Christmas. Comeon next week!

I was in your shoes 2 years ago. I ordered the first rev intel MBP the day after the keynote, got it in late feb and got a full 6 months out of it before I even went to school and I loved every bit of it. The machine I have now is more than powerful enough for anyone I know and the average school stuff. I'm starting to do a lot of video production work though, so I need to upgrade.

I have never regretted my decision to purchase early.

What I do to pass the time until I can buy my first (updated) Mac:

:apple: reading this post at least ten times a day
:apple: checking and crossreferencing apple rumor sites
:apple: checking apple's homepage
:apple: playing with the actual Macbooc Pro at a local store
:apple: eating apples

Yep, that's where I shop.

First post here.

I have been lurking around MacRumors for a while, and I'm happy I came here.
For a while I have been looking for a new laptop, I even gotten so far as to hand my old Sony Vaio to my Father in Law, so I have no laptop now.
I decided I wanted a MacBook Pro, so I can Tripple boot, OsX/Ubuntu, and some WinXP for Gaming.
I'm looking to get something to use both at home and on the road, so will probably get the 15", I almost ordered it, until I came across our buyers guide, I would have been so pissed If I ordered it and a month later a new revision came out.

So you can add me to the list of people waiting for next revision.
My biggest hope for next revision is Penryn CPU for the extra battery life.

Regards,
Brian Levinsen

Ok, so I really need a laptop. I've always had a PC desktop, and it's getting down to the wire. I was hoping that in my last semester of school that I could get away with not having one, but no dice. I need something that can do 3d modeling as well as menial computer chores, but I'm getting tired of waiting for the mbp to update. I've been drooling over macs since 2002, but I've always been told to stick with pc's for engineering work. I'm finally telling them off, but I've gotta wait for the new batch. I'm almost considering buying an Eee to tide me over.
