so, when's the next anticipated date for the mbp? Don't tell me, 'next Tuesday'. Iwent into a store the other day and he levelled with me and just said, "Don't listen to rumor sites, if you need something go and buy it." I'm just confused/emotional.
Of course he said that.. They make way more money on the last sales of a rev that the first ones..
I wouldn't trust those words too much, no matter how sincere he looked (as he of course might have been).

I'm also itching to buy a new 15" MBP, but I've so far resisted the temptation to get my plastic out. I'll definitely be all over it when an upgrade appears. I'm hoping that its just some minor improvements like a speed bump, magnetic latch and possibly multi-touch trackpad. I'm not that keen on the new MacBook style keyboards though.

The Buyer's Guide is all I'm going off of. It's been way too long between updates, Penryn's already in competing laptops, Montevina being due out in May (I think), and March being too far off, I'm guessing early/mid February.
I need a new MBP and I can't wait longer than mid March for practical purposes. Here's hoping it's out next week. I really hope they put Blu-Ray in the thing. Personally I'd rather have that than a multi-touch track pad.

Does the next update really look all that great? From the rumors ive seen the multi touch track pad and LED screen (17" only) are the only really attractive improvements.
The next Mac Book Pro won't catch my attention until its running dual processors of above average spec and a serious graphics card. Something real from Nvidia. A $100 video card for a PC runs better and smoother than ATI. Also the size and weight need to be addressed, just not to the point of total usability sacrifice (MacBook air)

please don't start the wednesday rumours
it's been bad enough going from Tuesday to Tuesday without starting to get my hopes up for a wednesday.
I remember going through this back when they added the faster processor option to the MBP line .. what was that, november or something. I was ready to pull out the plastic at that point expecting it to be a free one, ie all the machines moved up one level of speed for the same cost. When that didn't happen, I started waiting again.
I hope my poor old G4 powerbook can hang in there. There's dust inside the screen, the 768Mb of RAM which seemed so much back in the day isn't enough for me even to try out aperture and Safari is just not the snappy little browser it used to be.
Anyway - I'm joining the camp here, I figure they have to update it one day.

i had stated earlier than a mbp release combined with a new house episode would make it the best day ever.
however, there is also a new house episode next tuesday, so possibly then?
also crazy apple reference in tonight's episode. if apple does one thing really well, is that they get their products placed everywhere on television
probably means more people are sending theirs back or getting rid of them because of all the rumours going around about the updated MBPs coming out soon (these rumours are evidently lies.... yes I am bitter)
Not on Monday because I called and asked the difference between the 2 (glossy vs matte) and I wanted to find out about the return policy. That was early Monday.
I am not trying to start any rumors, I just wanted to see what the regulars thought.
Count me in. It's time to bump down my 1st generation 2GHZ MBP to be my backup computer. I can't wait to get back FW 800... oh, and a LED screen, faster processors, and at least 4G of RAM will be nice too!
Rumors are only shocking when they turn out to be true;otherwise they are just rumors...thus the name MacRumors
