Add me to the list. The PB screen is falling off, it can't handle safari anymore! iPhoto is the slowest thing ever and don't even get me started on CS3!

This thing is crawling... I want my new computer now!!!

Waiting

Add me to the list.
My 12" PowerBook is getting to be a real beater. The fan gets so loud I think it's going to take off sometimes.
Let's hope for the new chip, touch controls, and most of all, the option of a non-glossy screen (the reason I did not buy an iMac).

Anyone think that a 1680*1050 resolution screen will be in the next 15.4" version of the MBP? It's really not that uncommon anymore... even in low- to mid-end PCs. Out of all the things i'm hoping for, this is the most important...

...

I'm still saving up for a MacBook Pro because curretly I am 11 and my parents said "You can get it if you save up for it" but I am almost there

I have used PC's all my short life except at school and when I first saw Mac's I was in Love

$1,800 out of $3,000:)

no it is VERY incommon, most 15.4" laptops (becides the insanely high end $300+ laptops from alienware & vodo) come with monitors of 1280x800. i dont think i have ever seen a 15.4" with a 1440x900 resolution and the 15.4" that have a 1680x1050 res are awful expencive.
though i would like to see a 1680x1050 res upgrade, that would be nice. i like that resolution.

well since this thread is for macBook pros im going to say that they do not come standard with a glossy screen, i think you want and are thinking of the regular macBook.

well... 70 point drop in stock or not... (of which I own over 200 shares)... I NEED A LAPTOP and can't stand the wait on rumors. What I want to REALLY know is, once this update is announced... how long until you can actually purchase one?

unless they wait until WWDC (which could either be 2+ weeks or immediately), you will be able to purchase immediately.

Well first they are the higest quailty laptops out there, Second I do a ton of school work on my current laptop, third if I do any big projects my teachers macs will be able to read the CD or file, and fourth I can't get a macbook because the screen's too small:)

You may be the coolest 11 year-old alive! I don't see why you would have a problem with the 13" personally but whatever works.

May I make a suggestion though... Because of your age I would suggest the MacBook Air and here's why: weight! Believe me, that kind of weight will affect your back, and if you plan on carrying your MBP to school you will notice it. I have backpacked over 1000 miles so far and have royally screwed up my back from carrying too heavy a load for my size/age, that mixed in with 10-12 years of Ju Jitsu and Filipino Martial Arts can really cause problems. I applaud your drive in this matter, but at your age there is nothing that the MBA couldn't handle. The X3100 will do most graphics work in a snap and you probably aren't using any really processor intensive apps (i.e. Photoshop CS3, Maya, Final Cut, Aperture).

And not to call your parents liars, but I don't know if they will actually let you do it. My parents did the same thing to me with an Xbox, a guitar (I got it eventually) and multiple previous attempts to purchase an iBook and then a MBP, but never allowed me to buy one. I wish you luck, and if you don't mind me asking, what do you do to get the funds?

though that i would have to say that everybody should beable to buy what they want no matter their age, i would have to agree about the weight. even though im only 16, i have some back problems and i think that it had to do with the heavy backpacks that i had to carry in my elementary years.

I agree that anyone should be able to buy whatever they want, but sometimes parents don't see things the same way we do. That's all I was getting at. Hopefully her parents are super cool and will actually let her. If she already has 1800 then I think they are cool.

Thanks For Calling Me The Coolest 11-year old alive! I wouldn't be carring it back and forth from school I just type alot of stuff up and send projects and stuff to my teachers. Also I need an internal drive for movies and stuff like that. But my issue with 13 inch screens are that I alredy have a 15 inch notebook and it is kinda downgrading:)

you know... if you have 1800, why dont you just buy a referb 15.4"?

Add me to the list!

I'm plodding along with a 1.8GHz iMac G5. It's got 2GB of RAM, loads of external storage and I've just gotten a 500GB enterprise drive to replace the 320GB that failed recently (I've yet to install it). I've upgraded it to Leopard and yada yada... it's a really great machine, but the slowness compared to pretty much any Intel Mac is definitely evident. My two main uses for it are writing, which doesn't require much horsepower... and video encoding, graphics work and design, which definitely does! My only concern is that this machine has to last me quite some time and I'd rather get an MBP when Apple give the range a case redesign or a major architecture shift. So it'll be a painful wait, but hopefully worth it! :)

because I Upgraded alot of specs and you cant do that with a refurb

and to answer rsm5068's question I do typical chores and I also get some money to get all A's at school and I just save all the money I get

Just as a heads-up, a $3000 laptop is EXTREME OVERKILL for school work. If you want a 15" Apple laptop, just go with the base model. Trust me, it'll suite your needs just fine. Unless you do a lot of high-end gaming, video editing, audio editing, or some other professional task, I would suggest just getting the $1999 model. Truthfully, the standard Macbook would be the best option for you, but if you must have that extra 2" of screen space, then go with the $1999 Macbook Pro.

I am also a chronic hoarder of the cash. At any given point in time I have no less than $1000 in cash or checks in my room. And that's why I don't tell you guys where I live!

I see your point of the downgrading. Although I do agree with the others, once the upgrades come go with the cheaper model. And don't pay for Apple RAM, buy it yourself and put it in or have a friend put it in for you. Then take the extra cash and buy some sweet accessories, like an iTouch.

Has anyone thought about this: 320 GB HDD in the revision. Dell has them currently and I am sure apple will pick them up, making the 250 standard with any luck!
