add me to the list

I've got a hand-me-down pIII 1ghz desktop that I've had for about 5 years that's about to croak. I'll take any update!!

I'm pretty much in the boat of buying at the end of this month whether they get updated or not.

My Penny X 2 Theory

I will probably be thrown few rocks for saying this right now, but I'm almost glad that it didn't happen today, why?

It gives a better chance to be updated at the 2/26 event, if it's going to be part of a keynote presentation (hopefully), could mean Jobs will come out and make it an event and if they intro the new MBP then (cross fingers XX), it will MOST LIKELY BE a new body style~ and that will be an ultimate upgrade!:D

anyhow~

It's not worth much but giving myself a false-hope, I'm also the one - wanting to do that Virgin Airline Space Travel - will never happen~:(

Wow.

On the one hand, you’ve gone 5 years, so what’s a week or two.

On the other hand, any MBP would be a great upgrade from that.

Dear Brianstorm91:
Now that you have along list of MR members waiting to buy the soon to be released MBP, what is the next step?

Are you going to submit or had submitted it to :apple: already?

Any greedy :apple: salesman may help us push that sale sooner than later...

At this point in the update cycle it seems like Apple is planning a redesign, else they would’ve dropped Penryn on us already, just like other PC manufacturers (even if it was, say, shipping in a week). However, we’ve heard nothing about MBPs that quite frankly need both a design update (keyboard, multitouch) and a hardware update (Penryn). What they’re most likely doing is planning to launch at a special event, so pretty much nothing is going to speed that up. The good news is that a special event seems to be coming up.

newbie

i've been a pc user for over 2 cent.. err decades, ever since i got my first 286 and gave the apple II+ to my lil sis.

but i've only been a laptop user for 6 months now. a dell inspiron. And as a laptop, this windows machine is awful. Lotsa bugs relating to sleeping, turning off... a pain.

Also, I'm getting heavily into editing and am dying to have my own Final Cut, so I'm making the switch, jumping the pond, and getting me a top o the line 15" mbp.

I've been following the update rumors since early january, and so, here I am, with you, waiting.

and I'll keep waiting until a new mbp pops out. I mean, I didnt heed the advice on the buying guide and got an iphone 10 days before the 16 giger appeared. Thankfully, i was still within the return window...

So I'm patiently waiting for my 1st ever :apple: computer.

another post that 's going to keep me hoping.. haaaay!:D

I totally agree at this point. If they were just gonna bump the specs, they would have done it a while ago. By now we can probably assume they actually are changing the design and, most likely, will release them along side the iPhone SDK in the 26th event.

Clues of new MBP in released 10.5.2 update?

Hi,

Has anybody analyzed the 10.5.2 update for signs of a new MBP? Previously it was reported that the developer seeds of the 10.5.2 update contained the "MacBookPro4,1" identifier, thus proving that there was an imminent MBP release. That news was posted here: https://www.macrumors.com/2008/01/30/evidence-for-new-macbook-pros/

I am curious if that has changed in the publicly available 10.5.2 update. Also, are there any signs of new hardware support in the 10.5.2 update that may leak details on the upcoming MBP? This has happened in the past with other unreleased Macs.

I have downloaded the update package DMG with the intention to rip it apart and get the details. However, after some unsuccessful attempts on my PC, it seems to me that the 10.5.2 update DMG file could only be viewed or analyzed under OSX. I do not own a Mac yet, so am pretty bummed with no way of getting all that info for now.

You're right. They can just stand by and watch the legs they're standing on be cut from under them. Computers aren't that important anyway, right?

You need to seriously lay off the kool-aid if you think the current MBP specs are a "great value". I'm cool with paying the Apple premium and all, but not for outdated hardware.

At all honesty it's not really that outdated, there's just no Penryn processor option at this time. I don't think the current MBP will show any wear even after 2 revisions have passed it and the next couple of revisions won't show any real performance boost to the naked eye. If you are all about measurable specs that really mean nothing than it's all good but if you are talking about noticeable performance boosts you won't see it.

Honestly, besides the Penryn CPU what's so outdated about the current MBP. Please leave out the GPU because Apple is notorious for keeping the same GPU throughout several revisions so the new MBP may have the same 8600GT.

I follow the forums since December. I am using a pc (with Fedora) but I would like to switch to mac and buy a MBP. I prefer to buy the latest model so you can add me also to the list. Although I can only wait until April then I will really need the computer, so I will buy it no mater if it's updated or not.

Yup....I am waiting...and waiting....something better happen by the end of Feb otherwise.....i'll just wait somemore...arg..
