@ brianstorm79 Why not send uncle Steve a link to this thread, and make him realize that theres about 1million USD waiting to be spent on this particular product. ;)

Send it to him, see if you can get an answer!! Would be funny!

hahaha oh yes please do that. i wonder what he would do then??

Hi all, please put me on the list as well! I've been cruisin' this forum numerous times a day for the last few weeks, and have felt like ripping my own hair out many, many times! I've been a mac user for years, but this will be my first - and very long overdue - laptop (i've got a powerpc g4 which is now on it's last legs).

come on, bring them out, PLEASE!!! (crosses fingers and prays for a gorgeous redesign ;-)) :D

I have downloaded the update package DMG with the intention to rip it apart and get the details. However, after some unsuccessful attempts on my PC, it seems to me that the 10.5.2 update DMG file could only be viewed or analyzed under OSX. I do not own a Mac yet, so am pretty bummed with no way of getting all that info for now.

Convert the dmg to an iso (I’m pretty sure there’s programs to do it). Then you’ll need something to extract a .pax.gz file (I don’t know if there is a program that does this on the PC).

Dear Brianstorm91:
Now that you have along list of MR members waiting to buy the soon to be released MBP, what is the next step?

Are you going to submit or had submitted it to :apple: already?

Any greedy :apple: salesman may help us push that sale sooner than later...

Personally I think we should find a way to purchase through MacRumors as a business and get the coorporate discount :D

hahaha oh yes please do that. i wonder what he would do then??

Maybe to tell me to calm down and that it's being worked?
Something ambiguous like that I'd guess!

EDIT: What do you guys reckon about adding a poll?
What should it be about, what should the options be?
Ideas wanted :)

bring me to the list as well...

I'm looking to this forum since weeks, especially the last three weeks :D

Ugly ugly ugly

Just did a quick mockup with the white keys.

Here's to hoping for an update today, altough I have a feeling I'll be dissapointed yet again.

If they do white or black keys, I'm going to be pissed!!! They've got to keep some premium look to the MBP! The same keys as the lower end is wrong! Sorry, but in the words of Simon, it's hideous!

i agree! silver keys in the style of the new wireless keyboards would be perfection! they should def. match the casing, whatever colour that may be...

well I just ordered a stick of RAM to go in my ancient steam-powered powerbook G4 to bring it beyond the minimum spec to run aperture really, really slowly so now I'm good for a few weeks or months until this update finally comes out, whatever it is.

Of course the ram will probably arrive the same day the new MPBs do but that's just life

funny, I was just thinking of jacking up my RAM on my ol' 1 GHz G4 as each projected release date comes and passes. Oh spinning ball, how I hate thee!

I was almost tempted to go to the :apple:Store today with giftcard in hand and buy the current MBP. I have to say I hate this waiting game and I've been using my iPhone now for six weeks as my primary computer right now.

100% nothing wrong with the current model. I have a fundemental issue with buying an old chip when intel (almost has) a new chip out in the market. I would be 100% happy with "Comnig in two weeks" and order it today. I just hate the waiting game.

Damn you :apple:

I'm driving to the :apple:Store on the 26th. If they haven't released it I'm buying the SR version.

Gotta love those classic steam powered laptops. I still have to have coal delivered to my house to fuel my TiBook G4-667.

Yes please do add a poll, and link to it in this thread and tell everyone to participate. The questions should be:

1. Are you buying the new penryn macbook pros as soon as their released?
A: Yes or No
2. If they announced that the mbp won't come for a long time would you buy the current one?

Maybe if we got everyone to click yes on the first one we would have something to email steve!

I agree with the above, although I would argue that the current technology and the price of the current generation MBP is something wrong (especially when I can get the same specifications from a PC laptop for about 800 dollars less. Without bringing the idea of operating systems into this equation, it's hard to argue that this current technology and price of the product isn't something that is a little off balance)

I'm not sure that everyone would be thrilled about having to wait for a pre-order, but for those of us who have been following the upcoming MBPs since last year (for me it has been since September), it would be a sweet relief from the waiting game that we've had to play for so very long.

Supposing that Apple releases new MBPs at the rumoured special event on the 26th, do you thin here will be a long ship time? MBA, TiBook, original Aluminum G4s, and the Intel Macs all took a little while to ship... But those were all aver major keynotes. What is the precedent for special events? how long did it take the ALU Macs to ship after they were announced???

Well, after thinking about making a Hackintosh I decided that I wasn't thinking clearly.

I'm really glad Apple didn't release the MBP because I would have bought one and really my needs only require a Macbook. So, I'm getting a refurb white MB this afternoon. Thanks for saving me $1000, Apple!

I think the purpose of Apple waiting this long to announce this thing is so that they will be ready for shipment the day that they are announced. If you take from the rumors that the MBP was supposed to be ready for MacWorld, but then was delayed because of problems with the Penryn chipsets and the problems that Apple had with the development of 10.5.2, (and that MacBook Air was supposed to be tacked on at the end), then it would make sense that MBP is going to be ready for shipment (the Air wasn't because as aforementioned)

This is of course only a theory that I have created based on the rumours and the seemingly credible information that has been made avaliable throughout the various orifices of the internet and the rumor community.

Kinda back to the original topic:

You can take me off of the list. I'm writing this on my new 2.4GHz MBP. Couldn't wait anymore. If they are released in the next two weeks, I'll bring this one back, but either way.. not going to stress any more as to when they are coming out, and it's still a screaming machine.

Good luck to everyone! I hope they arrive soon.

Well playing this waiting game is the worst part about it. Just tell us in Feb 08 MBP refresh. I've had Cash in hand for two weeks now and want it to be over.

But Yes I agree the current MBPs are overpriced based on the technology as apple keeps a fixed price point so they don't have to re-raise the price for the same model. Its great when its new and sucks when its old. I have to decide weather I want to wait for shipping on the 26th if nothing is announced and save $200.00 USD or get instant gradification and go pick it up at the local store.

I heard from a 'very reliable supplier' that the 19th is the day and shipping the 21st, cant say anymore, but its happening next week.
